The stadium next to the one that used to be called Highbury is absolutely plastered with corporate advertising for Emirates and even named after them (whatever next !) and it's one of the best looking arenas in Europe. Just sounds like a few Newcastle fans being up their own arse again about how special THEIR stadium is. (Which of course it is)

I thought nufc.com got it spot on in their match report about Shearer's MOTD comments and analysis as copied below. Disappointingly and inexplicably, Alan Shearer and the Match of the Day chaps seemed to find the whole Barton episode hilarious. Well, Big Al and his chums may have been giggling on the sofa but there didn't appear to be too many chuckles among the travelling fans or players as they witnessed the assaults. Had McCarthy's plans been successful and Barton been dismissed or hospitalised, United would have left Molineux defeated and facing the next few Premier League games without their most influential midfielder. Side-splitting stuff eh...? You would have thought that our former number nine, of all people, would appreciate the value of every single Premier League point.

Just posted in the "Henry" thread but probably more relevant here. Totally agree and I quite like watching hard robust players. David Batty for example was a great player - hard but always fair. Henry and Cattermole however are being systematically requested by their managers to go out and target and hurt specific opposition players. There is no place in football for that kind of club policy. I haven't seen that much of Cattermole, but over the years - whoever he has played for - I have not seen one game where he should have stayed on the pitch if the referee was applying the laws of today's game correctly. Now that quite literally seems to be the case. Sunderland should do themselves a favour and sack him, he can then work as a bouncer on Stockton High Street or Linthorpe Road which is what he is probably cut out for

Cue sensational newspaper headlines about Newcastle supporters being sickened by the forced sale of their favourite player so the money can be given to the Joey Barton national socialist party war fund.

Good riddance. Never a particularly good defender and if we have to lose one CH I'm glad it's him. Not sure his ego will fit into the current NUFC set up either. Behaved the same way when his father made the last set of outrageous contract demands so it was probably to be expected again this time. However I expect he will have to lower his demands and will probably end up staying. If that happens expect the "didn't want to leave his home club" spin we heard after relegation. Truth is when it came to the crunch Everton or no one else really fancied him that much and I can't see it being much different this time.

If we'd been beaten on Sunday and he didn't score he'd have "not been good enough for the premier league" as it is he's "England's future centre forward". Either way the macum slag will find a way to put a negative slant on all things NUFC. She's a shameless liar who hates Newcastle and will write anything in the hope it damages our club. No wonder the Guardian is going bust and is no longer taken seriously by anyone when they've sunk to employing people like her. -
A wonderful TEAM performance. Thats what I love about this Newcastle United - no superstars - no one bigger than anyone else - just a team of totally commited players standing up for each other. While some of them were always Premiership standard - some we were'nt sure about and although one swallow doesn't make a summer three players I liked but had doubts about, Williamson,Barton and Carroll went a long way towards eliminating any concerns yesterday. Hughton will keep their feet on the ground I'm sure, but this team can get better and with sensible investment will get better.

Decent article about St.Pauli with a few of the usual ciches attached. Still probably one of the best places in Europe to spend a weekend watching football, mind the toon's not that bad either ! http://edition.cnn.com/2010/SPORT/football/08/18/football.st.pauli.punks/index.html?hpt=C1#fbid=1M1-BbZVjAB&wom=true

That looks like a pretty expensive but ordinary squad, in such precarious times, for a club who normally have to pay over the odds to attract players yet will never be one of the leagues big revenue earners. Maybe Bruce really is the "Geordie agent" they feared.

Aston Villa appoint Alex McLeish as new manager
Benwell Lad replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
If true then that is much the same way as Brian Clough went about his job. What a surprise. -
Come on man, if you were from Albania would you be able to settle in a dump like Sunderland ?

It's almost impossible to hate them when they make you laugh so much. But I'll keep trying.....

The Guardian: Newcastle fans held racist protests about Andy Cole's signing
Benwell Lad replied to Paully's topic in Football
The responsibilities of the new head of communications (or some board member) at NUFC should include monitoring and where necessary challenging any lies, libel and mischevious innuendos written or aired about the club. Certain lazy newspapers, journalists and radio stations use such mis-reporting about Newcastle in leui of proper jounalism but seem to do so knowing that there will be no come back whatsoever. Some like Louise Taylor just have a huge chip on their shoulder and delight in spreading any lie or rumour which will tarnish the club or city. Being the cowards they are, most opinionate behind un-named and probably non-existant sources, but whenever possible they should be challenged and sued. -

Ditto. IMO it has had the best sports coverage for some time now and tends to report the news rather than just make it up as it goes along. -
She is well known for writing absolute tripe but this latest offering takes her to a new low. Louise, as often pointed out on here, you are a main protagonist of the lies, half truths and bandied rumours you talk about - usually intended to cause unrest and problems at Newcastle United - a club you so obviously despise. The only difference is you have found a "newspaper" stupid enough to pay you a salary to do it, while most other idiots have to do it for free on internet forums. Do us all a favour and go back to Beirut or wherever it is you come from. Preferably in a non-journalistic capacity.

See old puss features beachball head was whinging on telly tonight about bad luck and cheating. Get over it Steve you were beaten by a better team over the two legs.

Steve Wraith? Ryan McKnight? probably. http://www.playersincevents.co.uk/index.php/20090702230/players-inc-magazine/current-issue/current-issue.html is his magazine. Never once bought it. For some reason he's build up a rapport with sections of the media and they always look to go to him ahead of Mark Jensen or Michael Martin. I find Steve Wraith ok, at least he's one of us - although he does seem to be the media's darling rent-a-quote for some reason. -

Steve Wraith? Ryan McKnight? Yes, Ryan McKnight thats him - what a prick. Is there any reason he gets asked about NUFC ? Always seems to have some smarmy negative answer. -

Who is that prick they keep dragging up for an interview on the local news nowadays - editor of some magazine no one's ever heard of ? He always seems to make snidey negative comments about us - has he got any qualification to speak publicly about football in general or Newcastle in particular ? -
If we don't win the title Hughton should go.

I'm genuinely not arsed. Ultimately, we're finishing 21st in the league pyramid. Woop! If that really meant anything then it would be worse than finishing 18th,19th or 20th. But it doesn't and it's not.
