  1. Thank f*** for that! Experience in the lower leagues is vital for him at the moment, and not a job back here where he can rest on his laurels being a Geordie anarl Totally agree.
  2. I think Coleman would be a great appointment if we could get him. Right now he'd bring a lot more to the table than Shearer would.
  3. Wish people would stop saying "it was only Stoke" - they are chasing promotion and have an excellent away record which can only be achieved through good organisation. Last night was a big game for them with their biggest away following. Last season it was ONLY Birmingham and look what happened. BTW has anyone ever seen a side down to 10 men for so long play such good adventurous football. Sometimes 10 men hang on and grind a result but I thought last night was exceptional. Much of this was down to Zogbia playing the role he prefers in CM. It's a long time since we've had anyone who justified the title "playmaker" but he certainly looks like one.
  4. Yeah. We've had one dream appointment to get everyone excited. The next one should be a sensible one to temper the mood, get serious and get down to business.. The press circus surrounding Shearer would be unbearable.
  5. Although he wasn't my first choice I'd have been happier with Shearer as a boss than a No.2, something about him as no.2 just makes me feel very uncomfortable. Look at the best assistants - they are generally unselfish people who like to work quietly behind the scenes and don't have big egos. That is not Shearer. Shearer needs to be the main man and would probably court more (unwanted) media attention than the boss. Nigel Pearson and Derek Fazackerly are good examples of the personality required to be a no.2.
  6. According to the popular (and not so popular) press it seems everyone on Tyneside is clamouring for him. Funny but most people I speak to are very wary about him getting involved. Keegan was not my first choice, but hell I'm warming to it - the best ever years of being a Newcastle supporter was when KK was around - we always loved him and this morning a lot of us feel 20 years younger. But hold on - this HAS to be Keegan's gig if it's going to work. Bringing in Shearer would put enormous pressure on him and many think he back stabbed a previous Newcastle boss in order to preserve his own status. Also in the new Ashley era would he want someone who was ( is ) so close to Shepherd ? There was little love lost during the takeover. If Shearer does come I'll support him too, but I would urge the powers that be to think carefully if the fans really do want him, or whether it's just Sky and the tabloids telling us the fans want him.
  7. Owen is our best forward player by some distance. We always knew he was the best in the box striker around but watching him first hand (albeit not often enough) lets you see how good his hold up play is and his abiliity to bring others into play. Dredging up lines from his autobiography is today's little press stir. Keegan will love Michael Owen and I'm sure Owen will love playing in a Keegan team.
  8. As long as we don't pretend decent performances against s**** makes the likes of Carr etc good enough....... Still can't stomach the idea of Roz inthe midfield, after he was found so badly wantng in defence. Been a bad day all round for you Monkey eh ?
  9. Also talked about Newcastle having 8,000 gates before Keegan came first time, tonight on Sky. Alan I've been watching Newcastle for 40+ years and we've never had 8,000 gates. Where DO you get it from ??
  10. Yeah - and apparently Sir Alf Ramsey was seen drinking in the Diamond in Ponteland last night as well.
  11. The two games before they beat Villa 2-0 & Brum 1-0 & have not scored 5 or more against any other team*. It would be intresting to see if they people finding positives in the result are the same people who couldn't work it out that we are s**** when we got beat off Derby away. *=They humped Shenzhen FC 6-0 in a pre-season game. Aye, but they didn't play half as well against Villa or Birmingham as they did against us. They wouldn't have got 4 or 5 against most other teams. Look at their results this season. How many times have they humped teams 4/5-0? They turned the SMB over at the SOS and could have had 10. Against us they got 6 - in a very strange game - the 2 first were gifts and a couple at the end when we were waiting for the whistle. And if the linesman hadn't cocked up and cheated us and we'd been 1-0 up at HT it would have been a different scoreline, not saying of course that they wouldn't have gone on to beat us. Their victory over the macums was a far more accurate result though - don't you think so ? My question was, in response to the typical NUFC blinkered comment that in the mood they are, they'd have scored AT LEAST 4 OR 5 AGAINST MOST OTHER DEFENCES, how many times, after 20-odd games, they had done so against these other defences, as they have played them all at least once. The way we played in the second half, we deservedly got battered, lets not allow a few days of excuse making blind us to how little we coudl keep the ball, etc. The victory against us was a VERY accurate result, because thats what they scored, its simple fact. I can't rememebr many times this season they've got "at least 4 or 5", but clearly we were robbed, and didn't deserve it. After all, we're Newcastle United, we're ace. Their victory over the macums was a far more accurate result though - don't you think so ?

  13. He was honest, and as normal spoke a lot of sense. However at this very important time when the club may well be in delicate negotiations, I don't think his style of grabbing headlines in the Sun will be appreciated. If he upsets Mort/Ashley he can probably forget about ever having any involvement in the club and then the "shadow" will be gone. Shearer may be a Tyneside legend but that will mean nothing (although they would not say that publicly) to hard business people like them.
  14. how do you know he had a part in it? Someone told me. Bobby preferred a Kluivert/Bellamy partnership. Shearer got upset as it threatened his Mr. Newcastle dominance. Shearer uses press to get at Bobby. Bobby suggests Shearer is sold. Shearer goes to chairman who idolises him. Bobby goes. Shearer's mate Souness comes . Shearer is main man again. Bellamy and Kluivert go. BTW if Shearer IS appointed I will support him fully as I will any new manager. I just think it's unlikely unless it's a last resort appointment.
  15. Shearer's part in the departure of SBR and introduction of Souness (look where that got us) has to raise serious questions about his judgement. Also his close relationship with Freddy will not be lost on the new regime. I reckon we can forget about Shearer for now. If things don't work out with their preferred choices then they may fall back on Shearer as a last resort.
  16. Having been beaten 6-1 by ajax he's probably gonna need a job soon
  17. I'd like to be excited but quite a few of our French connections have failed badly. Somebody please convince me that this will be different to Rangers who were also excited about Le Guen.

All things considered and being realistic, me too.
  19. Welcome back Joey - now get out there and help us to win some matches.
  20. Shame he didn't turn out like his mentor John Gibson. May be as mad as a hatter at times but was a real pro who DID know what was going on in Newcastle.
  21. Clemett's a proper odious little inbred t***. Jeff Brown's a nice bloke for a mackem though tbf, sometimes gets in my local. I'm sure he is a nice guy - certainly comes across that way - but someone in Fenham is putting the boot into us for whatever reason.
  22. That's the very reason why this dream ticket duo is so unlikely to happen. Keegan would never work under a shadow of anyone. One would have to be boss and both are unlikely to accept 2nd in command, so I reckon it's EITHER/OR or neither.
  23. See tonight's Look North with smoggy Clemett and Mackem Brown showed manchester united's near misses as well as their six goals while not showing nor even mentioning Owen's "goal which would have put us 1-0 up at half time or Zoggies run or shot. Whatever happened to regional bias ?

There really isn't much in the Premiership that is different to "Allardyces Newcastle side", bar Arsenal,Manure and Chelsea and we've no hope of getting their managers. After that it's made up of the other teams who have their moments, the perennial strugglers and the yo-yo's. Hughes is probably the best (realistic) bet.
