The Official Alan Pardew Excuses Thread
Benwell Lad replied to WarrenBartonCentrePartin's topic in Football
Agreed. His use of the single word "right" was reactionary, excitable, volatile and frankly uncalled for. -
Anyone read the "Planet Football" section in the latest copy of Private Eye relating to a vague BVI registered "offshore football financier". I wonder if this is what our esteemed manager may have been referring to in his recent "can't compete" quotes ?
-
I'd say call the bast*rds bluff. Sick to death of this deal. Tell him to go **** himself Unfortunately that may well be exactly what the agent wants to be told. As the final year of the contract wears down transfer fee will decrease and signing on fees increase. He probably sees the (alleged) 2M as a fee to expedite things and forgo future pay offs. Frustrating for everyone but this is the mess football has created for itself.

I don't think anyone was impressed with the appointment of JFK, but some of the apocalyptic doom posted on here (and indeed just about everywhere else) was canny funny like.
-
JFK may be a bit of a nutter but he's a hard fucker and that's something we've been lacking on the football side of things for a while now.

The thought of Brown and O'Shea being their central defenders against current PL strikers, no proven full backs, a hotch-potch squad of new signings and a fascist loony in charge of it all would have me a bit concerned if I was a mackem. What's the best odds for them to be relegated ?

I know. Supporting NUFC, whether physically or just in cyberthingy, has become such a chore. We really should have a "martyr of the year award" to acknowledge the poor soul who has had to endure the most.
-
True. See post above ref Germany. However I would agree that their is a lot less "hunger" at street level in working class areas of the UK than there once was. Nowadays it tends to be a more self indulgent lifestyle regarding diet, exercise, drinking etc. Being working class once meant a diet of meat and vegetables and lots of outdoor games, it's more likely to equate to convenience food and endless Sky TV nowadays. Watching kids playing football etc on squares and beaches all day and night around Catalonia is in stark contrast to the way it is in the UK.

Dunno. My recollections are that, although the "enemy", they were generally a decent bunch who endured their plight with a resigned kind of humour and grudgingly accepted that they were of no real interest to anyone outside the NE. I think when their attendances doubled/trebled overnight, after the SoL was developed, those old timers were overwhelmed by a new generation of idiots who seem to have a huge chip on their shoulders about life in general and Newcastle in particular and many of the old timers just gave up on them.
-
Should be banned for that alone. Still when you think about it rationally, for them to have had that brief, fortuitous moment in the sun after two or three decades of participating in Britain's most one sided local derby, it really must have felt like "Heaven".

Height. 1.W 2.T 3.M 4.C Ability. 1.C 2.M 3.T 4.W I detect a pattern.

Good point. Unlike Campbell and Sammy did not look out of his depth when he got pitch time last season.

I've always found Sunderland fans fawning worship their owners/chairmen/managers to be quite unusual, almost unique and certainly in direct contrast to the way Newcastle fans view theirs. Even after ditching Wearside legend Quinn, Short's popularity remains intact. It's not like he's moved the club forward since.
-
Sky would have to give us our own dedicated news channel.
-
we couldn't handle the truth. Was almost welcome post-Freddie and the Sky relayed drama of our transfer dealings during that era. Polar opposite nowadays, nobody really knows anything, not even journalists close to the club, and all we get are a few one sided comments from the other club or agents. Mind it doesn't seem to stop some punters passing off their theories as hard fact and claiming detailed knowledge of the financial ins and outs of transfers past and present.
-
Best news for ages.
-
The problem becomes when our managers and coaches are of the level of some of the crap Sunderland have bought. Never takes long to turn any statement on here into an anti Pardew tirade Recent comments from Caukin, who in fairness is close to the action and pretty impartial would seem to contradict your view, but who knows ? Anyway the point is that of all clubs, people are upholding Sunderland's recent recruitment policy against ours which is ridiculous, even laughable.
-
Whilst far from perfect, even under Ashley our recruitment has been infinitely better than theirs whatever sums of money are involved. Players like Debuchy, Santon, Colo, MYM, HBA, Sissoko, Cabaye, Haidara, Marveaux, Bigi, Anita, etc, etc are testament to that. Despite the guff being spouted in the media right now we're still way ahead of them and most people in football know that.
-
Best and most optimistic part of the season for them is normally June/July so it will all start going down hill from here.
-
Always been the most excitable and bipolar of fans, following what has become a boringly predictable sequence. Ecstatic pre-season, depressed by Christmas and suicidal by Easter. Aye. I'd agree to an extent. However I've realised that expecting shite in the first instance generally makes me happier as the season progresses. So often an optimistic pre-season turns into a shite season and vice versa. It's generally been like that for decades and very much for the last few seasons. Using this warped logic we must nailed on for a cup or something this time :-)

What the odds on Cisse running to the adoring Newcastle fans kissing the Wonga logo on his shirt after his over head scissor kick from a Cabaye floated corner seals victory away to citeh in a few weeks time ? Would a quid on win enough to buy a new Sunseeker ?
-
Come on lads, got to do better than this every third post. sums the forum up nowadays tbh.

Latest article continues along the theme of the previous one and three sentences in particular :- "Because of decisions taken at the top of the club, it can feel like Newcastle is a haven for crisis, yet the reality is different. So many experts, so much professionalism, people getting on with it. Fine people, too".
