  1. Alles in allem war Emery das Ziel Nummer eins und ich denke, er ist in dieser Hinsicht Favre sehr ähnlich. Es sollte also kein riesiger Stolperstein sein? All that said, Emery was the number one target and I feel he is very similar in that respect to Favre. So it shouldn't be a huge stumbling block?
  2. Bring it on. I am ready for seige mentality if he is hired.
  3. I heartily disagree with that statement about not having the tools for free flowing attacking football. We absolutely do. To do it effectively and not get abolished in defense, that is definitely a problem! To be fair to Jones, we have seen improvements in the defence the past two games, we shall see how we look at the weekend. It is the central midfield and LB especially that is an issue. On their day some of our midfielders have the capability but they look too far gone, we wont see instant improvement for sure.
  4. I agree, regarding Favre. I think maybe the PL experience is still a niggling problem for the owners. My concern would more be his fit as a character with the general public and whether there is anything in the ASM rumours. Like Emery will he be able to communicate clearly with players/the media/fans? I think we desperately need someone with class and dignity (which Favre has) but also some real charisma that can excite and inspire. I don't get that as a fan as much from Favre but he clearly has managed it with players. In terms playing style I think the concerns about Howe and our defence are very similar from what people that have watched Dortmund regularly have said about Favre. I think he would be a really solid appointment though if we went that route but can see the broader appeal of Howe as a communicator publicly.
  5. Yeah but we are saving that for Jude Bellingham.
  6. Would have thought we would know if Howe was in Newcastle today by now. Press are always all over that. Can't see him making an appearance at training in an hour lol. Maybe the owners are so embarrassed they have gone on total leak lockdown lol
  7. Life's not about the destination.. all about the process... trust the process. Oh wait we are over that now. I don't agree with the outcome assessment though. Absolutely nothing wrong with taking the time and assessing all options, trying for the best options. We were obviously close with at least one big top tier managers and many conversations could have been, "not at this time" and might pay dividends later. I don't think anyone would want us to have picked a 10th choice without asking and going through checks aiming for better, nor should that have happened. That's truly limited thinking imo and a proper ? If anything it has given the owners more links and contacts while giving them a true idea of where and how the club is viewed by managers/agents etc. Noone was getting radically different results from our last two fixtures. I expect none of us (owners included) really knew exactly who would be interested, we are where we are and hopefully whomever they get is the best available and we all back that. I just hope they get it sorted this week either way.
  8. Love that a fair few of us have gone Full Howe. He will likely turn us down tmrw or we will appoint martinez instead!
  9. Howe is a student of the game, whether it's all talk and bluster is a different matter but I simply can't see anyone sharing videos from Gerrard, Lampard or Terry talking in depth about the game like the ones about Howe. I echo @ScottishMagpie 's earlier post. I don't think these players will react to a coach that isn't a people person. They absolutely need structure and organization but large parts of the "leadership group" have since slowly leaked out disliking rafa's methods, I think they might have totally switch off to Emery or someone that is strict. Howe is a happy medium but obviously a downgrade. I am confident it will work with these players to January, when attitudes can be shipped out but remains to be seen who we can attract with Howe in charge.
  10. More than anything else I am just upset for @Unaited, we hardly knew thee...
  11. Howe will do great things with the club, will unite the fanbase and play the type of football we want. Have faith.. He will turn us down tomorrow in a huff because he is 10th choice.
  12. Channers got dis to be fair. No panic.
  13. Found it interesting we "apparently" approached Joachim Lowe too and were turned down. Against the narrative of Premiership experience that seems to be key from all the noise that has been leaked out. Probably whats keeping them from Favre and Fonseca. I am assuming AVB simply isn't interested as he has been screaming out at me the last week and a half. Think he would be beyond perfect, especially if we get Henrique as they are good friends. Whatever happens we need someone in for Monday. Preferably before the weekend.
  14. Wouldn't inject life into the players as we desperately need.
  15. Going to say this will be Brightons biggest Premier league win.
  16. Would anyone be happy with Simon Jordan as DOF and Souness interim?
  17. To be fair I think howe is more likely to inspire the masses than Emery communication/charisma wise. Certainly the type of supporter that doesn't frequent message boards. Emery never seemed a good fit personality wise.
  18. Doesn't look like his info was wrong. It's the club that seemed to have shot themselves in the foot at the last minute. We need to move on and fast.
  19. Best case scenario right now imo. Would take him over any of the other names left that are linked.
  20. Tbf Emery has come across a bit of a cunt in this too. Clearly talked to us and came close if not verbally agreeing, now doesn't want to be the bad guy. Fuck him, we need someone that wants to be here and we need to get on with it. I also ojt know he would have been the Just a huge gut punch.. SSN/Downie say Howe or Martinez over Favre or Fonseca. If that is true I hope it's howe. We will end up committing long term to Martinez, not that a payoff matters I guess. Martinez isn't that bad either but we won't get him prior to the international window. Feel this ownership will still want to go for someone with a bigger resume than Howe. We could end up with him saying no at this point.
  21. It's done. SSN I'm in the minority with Howe. As a stop gap to the end of the season he will he will be OK imo. Knows the league and some of the players and has used the time off to better himsef. It's quite the come down unfortunately and a kick in the gut for all but Howe, that is presuming he doesn't turn us down
  22. The problem is hope and the UK journalists that broke it likely got the info from the club. Ballague is getting the information from Villarreal, their chairman and likely Emerys agent. Not expecting good news when I wake up lol
  23. Fair point... now it's Ake on loan. Trippier, Ings and Harry Wilson. Wilshere on a free if we are really lucky.
  24. It's a very odd situation if this is all true. Fingers crossed it isn't. Either way we have to get it sorted, hire someone and move on. We need change and to back the new manager to survive. We simply need an interim at this point. Huge embarrassment for the ownership if the uturn is true. It felt odd from the start it would be leaked the day of an import CL match. If it was supposed to stay water tight until tmrw I can understand Emery being annoyed and having second thoughts. Guess we will wait and see. Prepared for howe or a panic martinez play. Favre suddenly seems very attractive lol
