Guys, it won't be cheaper. Construction costs are through the roof, coupled with the availability of skilled construction labor globally. Our only benefit is that we probably are lucky enough that PIF could likely fund the entire construction of a new stadium or expansion with cash where as our rivals had to go into the debt markets to fund. Now, if the PIF do it their institutional way, they may get debt from their preferred lenders....which would be intersting as well. It's an expensive project one way or another. Do not look at what stuff cost 1-5 years ago or 5-10 years ago. It doesn't compare anymore.

My guess is we have our eyes set on RCB, LB, RW and #6. RCB seems to be the largest priority for Eddie Howe. If a deal is to be had for any of those positions, they'll switch the order and make an opportunistic purchase (see Gordon in Jan). I'd venture to say we will fill all of those positions come end of next summer. In 3 windows we'll have made those signings (Summer 2023, Jan 2023, Summer 2024)

Yasir is such an interesting guy. So many layers and levels to the guy. He's so welcoming and open, but he's steely as well. The correction on how big PIF would be had me in absolute stitches. Amanda and Mehrdad are just such loveable people but their coordination and savvy is really impressive - both are tremendous operators - excellent conduits between PIF and the club executives and management team.

I enjoyed it very much. As always, I think those who don't like it need to really set expectations for this sort of thing. this is it for me, you could get Thuram and Lavia for the cost of Caciedo. And Lavia you sit at the base. Thuram can play in double pivot or as an 8. He’s as Gini Wijnauldum as you get who was crucial to their style of play.

110m = you better be world class for an entire season and be the best in the world at that position. That is title challenging fee. Anything less is a waste of 30-50m they overpaid them.

There is also the issue of rising costs of materials (and assuming labor too) in construction today. In the past, a new stadium may be be cost effective over a simple expansion. As @ponsaelius noted, the additional complications do not help with metro and listed buildings as clear roadblocks and potential pitfalls to an expansion. I won’t attempt to speculate the actual cost but whatever it was 5 years ago, it’s probably 30-70% more these days, especially the materials.
