Odd bunch of people to be so grossly critical of someone who they’ve never met or know well performs in a tense cross examination broadcast on the internet over what might be a massive sum of money. Even odder that football journalists would try and wind up people for or against it as it relates the takeover. Some really just overall, weird sad people out there. Get a fucking grip on reality. What seriously is the point of getting people all angry and fuming at you?

Fuck these papers. Praying on our desperation.

I think this deal hinges completely on a compromise on KSA through PIF influence. Would be nice if the Reubens just said fuck it and tapped in for the PIF and just took it down themselves, but obv that ain’t happening. Again, think this entire thing right now is working through how quickly PIF can get MBS to agree to quickly make some changes. My mind says it gets done, the whole KSA vision 2030 stuff and losing to Qatar in this would be massive egg in the face for MBS and his old man’s view of his + “rivals” in KSA and in the region. Further, I think the PL have the leverage they finally needed to alleviate the piracy concerns in the region.

This place is always quick to fucking have a go at somebody or immediately correct an error in a post with this matter of fact “I’m smarter than you because I know this obscure factoid” and its fucking trash form. People seriously across this place need to take a step back and have a word. Just be nicer to each other. We all support the same club.

I think this will happen, still but I think it’ll be part of a few announcements. Saudi working with Qatar or announcing their own Pl rights for SA. Full cooperation on ending the privacy concerns, etc.

I gotta say, I really do appreciate the soft spot Henry Winter has for us fans. I'll say this, if this somehow does fall through (I still believe they will be our new owners) then a swift transaction with another group will be fine by me assuming it's not a MA crony. I want a clean break from MA and I honestly don't want to think about that cunt ever again.

I thought he looked good when he played winger in one of the later games he played before the pause in the season. sorry for some reason i confused Southampton away with Burnley away and further i thought he started that game and didn't come on late. You lot are a bunch of bullies. Anyway, I thought he's looked decent.

i wonder what our pattern is going to be

with everything going on in the world this really has dropped down my list of major concerns in life...but i can't help but feel fatigued by the sheer length and public nature of this all. lord.

I like Lazarro, looked good in that Burnley away match.

Yorkie[/member], good post. I've probably said this many a time on this thread that I'm a huge fan of the Athletic - I read coverage on all of my favorite teams, and then generally read interesting stories about other clubs, leagues, sports etc. I get this sense that the Athletic for Caulkin was a break for him to get away from writing for a major paper, which he has done for so long. I get the sense that this is him really just writing about what he wants and how he wants to write it - in jest or not. Now, it's up to subscribers to digest or not, but I ultimately think it's been liberating for him to get rid of the traditional stranglehold and freedom he gets from the Athletic. I also get the sense that he's probably one of the top and higher regarded folks in the stable and probably relishes in that. In any case, the podcast to me has always been light-hearted and I never take it all too seriously. I much prefer the Orstein and Chapman podcast for general news etc.

George writes back because he sympathizes with our fanbase who are desperate for Mike Ashley to leave our club.
-
he knows that they are still answering questions. why do people continue to attack him? jesus christ the man hates MA and has built a decent relationship with our potential new owners and answers questions he doesn't have to all the time to try and be transparent with people.

It's just a podcast, it's not meant to be serious investigative reporting. Its 3 blokes with fuck all to do during a lockdown discussing stuff.

You could still sign Matty and loan him abroad to get that type of football in too. But of course not.
-
it's not even comparable though, such backward logic from the club. i'd be paying him just about what he wants because he's a proper talent and he should be staying at his hometown club. but if we're owned by MA and he's got a chance to go abroad and do it for himself, good on him. no grudge at all with Matty.

Al Jazeera BeIN and their ubiased take.

it's been said by many for months that it takes 2-4 weeks, and that it would likely be 4 weeks factoring in COVID delays. many are confused as to why an approval would take 8 weeks given a company like the PL likely has more than enough resources at its disposal to juggle many things at once. it's absolutely incredible to me that anyone could find the PL CEO's comments about there being "no timescale" an acceptable answer to a business transaction. that is just unacceptable. you would never in a million years be OK with someone telling you "i have no timescale on making my decision to approve your purchase" if you were the one on the side of the table. Like i said though, does it really matter who said 4 weeks if it wasn't from the horses mouth? They've said there's no timescale, which I personally find understandable. I can't understand why anyone would put a timescale on a deal like this when they most definitely anticipated numerous complications, which is why the PL haven't given one. To me it seems all the 4 weeks stuff has been plucked from someones arse and people have rolled with it. I think it's been said the league gave this timeline to MA and PCP at the beginning.
-
That isn't an acceptable answer to the people involved in the transaction. The answer however was to Dan Roan of the BBC and I think is perfectly acceptable given the NDA's connected to the deal. Yeah I think it's more what he's able to put out there in that interview rather than how they're actually approaching the whole thing behind the scenes. Personally felt he should have just said no comment can't discuss instead of rambling on in both interviews he did. Right, "I can't comment on the proposed sale of Newcastle United and will not be able to share any detail on where that deal stands" or something like that.

Robster[/member] and Carlito[/member] Agree 100% - but the messaging out in the public seems to be "we have no time frame" - so if that was little more clear!....

Look, I've spent the better part of my entire career on m&a over the past 15 years....the time it has taken the league to exhaust it's forensic review of this deal is a bit of a joke. If you're PCP/PIF/RB or Mike Ashley - you've every single reason to be pissed at how this has played out publicly. If you're told something takes X time and it's taken double that and the league comes out with comments that say they'll handle it on their time (essentially) that's fucking ridiculous.

Saul Niguez is announcing a new club in 3 days per his social media. Obv coming to us.

Absolute nonsense thread. Things like this shouldn't just be accepted and rushed through just to help the mental health of Newcastle fans Absolute nonsense post. No it wont change nowt and they won't be concerned about nufc fans mental health, but they should be concerned with an owner taking fans money for no reason and not giving them any clue about whats going on. I understand your reasons behind not wanting it to happen etc but not everything the 'pro takeover fans' say is bollocks. That lads most definitely bringing to light a few things that need to be said with regards to staff and refunds. They should be concerned with the current c*** of an owner taking the p*ss out of fans and staff. 100%. This is nowt to do with being anti or pro the takeover. Takeovers of companies take time , you can't just rush things through especially when possibly important information has just come to light, regarding the piracy thing. If they give a timeline of say 2 weeks, then what if more information becomes available in 13 days time that could affect the decision? But you are anti-takeover by PIF, let's get that out there just to clarify. I don't think anybody needs that clarified but thanks anyway have you ever been involved with an acquisition of a company?
