  1. Perch has the passing of a defender. With Cabs & Mous Tiote will play it simpler than he has been. He's played most of the season with Perch/Bigi/Jonas. Although Bigi is great, Tiote is the senior man.
  2. He probably thinks signing things for fans is him being some kind of false idol and that Jesus (to him, everything) is better than his signature (meaningless, to him). Shows humility at the very least.
  3. Their "golden generation" were all 12 year olds by then. They're doing well now, gelling as a team and their players are proving their potential at far higher levels. They have to get over the hurdle of actually qualifying for a major tournament before you even begin to rate them higher than Italy, Holland, France or Argentina. Insane levels of football hipsterness the Belgium bumming. They're not even as good as England. Behave. World Cup QF we'd lose on penalties.
  4. No doubt in my mind a 22 year old Mario Balotelli is a better player than RVP was at 22.
  5. Easy to forget he's only 22. The fundamentals are all there. He's faster than Cisse. Stronger than Ba. He hits the ball so cleanly without much backlift. When he gets it right he's a machine. An effortless machine. It's debatable if he can ever hook it up. At 22 he's a better player than many of today's top stars including RVP. Don't think he's over-rated at all.
  6. Already mentioned that. You can't give too many examples of that in living memory. We do it every 18 months.
  7. Like I said, rightly or wrongly they back their lads. When it goes wrong they get embarrassed.
  8. Laughing at our own players' getting ko'd is poor imo. Like I said, don't think that would happen on RAWK and the club is better for that attitude. As much as you mock the "we are Liverpool" stuff it's good for the team.
  9. Yeah, agree with this as well. Agreed.
  10. No, he was pretty good defensively against Chelsea, then again Jonas was there. Jonas missed most of the Xmas period, coinciding with Santon's poor form. He's come back and Santon has played better. Coincidence? No. Jose & Bernard are miles better than Davide let's behave lads. Still a very promising player.
  11. We won't get far if we keep doing this to limited players.
  12. Not anymore, most fullbacks spend more time in the opposition half than defending. If you watch all the top teams most fullbacks act as wingers with the DM dropping back to protect the two CBs. Considering most teams play with 1 striker anyway you don't need to have 4 defenders back keeping it tight. All players like Simpson these days do is restrict you as a possession and attacking force. For example: http://i12.servimg.com/u/f12/16/55/20/10/madrid10.png Avg position map from Real Madrid vs Barcelona look how high the fullbacks are and they are many more examples of this the likes of Simpson are a dying breed at the top level. 1. My main point is regarding the OTT criticism he faces. You would think he was a shambles reading this thread. I'm happy he's been replaced in XI but he's not a bad player at all. We are going to have players of his quality in our squad. 95% of teams have their limited men, who do the basics. 2. He does not play for Real Madrid or Barcelona. 3. 1 fullback for each side tends to "stay at home" far more because the opposite winger is you know, an attacker. All 4 fullbacks spend most of their time in their half. 4. We are not at the top level or 1 first team player away. RM's LW scores 40 goals a year, I suppose HBA needs to find his shooting boots.
  13. He's not a top fullback. It doesn't make him a terrible fullback deserving of some of the crap he receives. Arbeloa in comparison to his team mates at club & international level is very poor going forward. Doesn't make him shit (for that level), he can defend. Being poor attacking wise for a fullback is no reason for the constant BS on here. We lose 6-3 and people are angry because Simpson cannot attack?
  14. Always go the impression they thought he was learning on the job. Do you have any links where they're all having a go at him and calling him shit? Common view on RAWK with Henderson was that they overpaid but he was young and learning under SDtevie G
  15. The primary duty of a fullback in a back 4 is to defend. Half his role? Never. To suggest otherwise is stupid.
  16. http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=300247.0 That Lucas?
  17. Not true. In general it is true. The general theme on RAWK is always of support and at Anfield they're not on their teams back as much as us/Villa/Arsenal/Chelsea/Spurs when things aren't going well. A good portion of that crowd has seen the team lift the CL multiple times too. The only manager they haven't been patient with was Hodgson and to a lesser extent Kenny.
  18. This. Probably not as tall as them. But the power is close and he's much faster.
  19. Aye Jonas was certainly coddling him on saturday in arguably his best ever performance. Defensively, can you name me a game where he's played well without Jonas on the pitch?
  20. Great to see real end product from Santon last week.
  21. If Jonas was holding Jose's hand defensively, Jonas has been coddling Davide.
  22. It's enough to make him a decent player. He's a fullback. His primary responsibility is to defend well and he does a pretty good job of that. He doesn't cost us many goals and that's what he's there for. He won us several points last season with goal line clearances, think he had another great one against Spurs. Aye, he's fairly crap going forward but that doesn't make him a bad player. Most importantly, it doesn't mean he should be ridiculed and laughed at, at every and any opportunity. It's great that Colo/Santon have been good on the ball but what good is that when Santon's playing people onside, going AWOL in defence, letting balls roll under his foot into the net, Colo getting beat in the air from a set piece by Hugo Rodallega etc. For his faults, Simpson as a defender has been pretty decent all season. You can't fault him for a lack of effort, despite him feeling he's underpaid and us trying to sell/replace him for over a year. He's a Newcastle United player and that should be enough to guarantee our support until he leaves. Seems liek for us, you're either worshipped all the time, or loathed and people are happy when you're sold. It's been happening to Tiote, he's gone from mint to terrible, who cares if he's sold, in fact I hope we sell him and replace him. Lack of support. I think Perchinho and Raylor (who had to win a few matches with wonder goals), are the only non-purple players that get a decent shake off the fans.
  23. How many bad games has he had this season? How many times has he been raped time and time again by a winger? Honestly not many. He's a steady defender imo. Not a weak link defensively, although attacking wise you can ignore him tbh. He's certainly cost us less points than Santon & Colo. While he doesn't have the top displays the other 2 have had. He's steady. Puts in 6's, 7's every game. Yet reading this thread, he's horseshit.
  24. Hes' not horseshit. He's a decent Premiership fullback who always seems to try his best. He doesn't get knackered after 70mins like some players, looks in decent shape, rarely injured so he should be allowed the odd night out. Drinking etc. is a big part of British culture and I expect 90% of British players to be involved. Saying that, he shouldn't get himself into situations where he's fighting/getting ko'd. While he shouldn't go around in a mob, it's never wise to go on solo adventures outside of clubs by yourself. I've gotten into fights in this situation and although i've never been ko'd, i've got battle scars on my beautiful face as a result. I learnt that at 19, Danny is 25 with a child and should really know better regarding the whole thing. Lesson learned I suppose. Really don't like the stick some of our players get on here. Because he's shit (and he's not tbh) and a bit flash or something, this is a laughing matter on here and people "hate" him. Say what you like about Scousers/L'pool fans but they stand by their own rightfully or wrongly and it benefits them in the long-run. When you're a L'pool player regardless of your stature, you've got most of their support rain or shine. Patience too. And it benefits their side no end. We could learn from them.
