  1. Love the lad. Solid performance and a great penalty. Made a great start to his PL career.
  2. Was excellent yet again. Brilliant so far.
  3. We really need to win this so this performance can be forgotten quickly.
  4. I thought he would be Gordon level technically but he’s a level below from what we’ve seen so far. Plenty of time to come good. Maybe it’s a bit of nerves.
  5. I think he’s the least talented in his position of the players we’ve signed this summer. Desperately needs confidence and to be Howe’d. His touch and dribbling has been yikes when I’ve seen him.
  6. Yes and along with the fact we are a PL club is the reason we had to pay a premium on his nominal valuation. if he replaced Schar it’s a bargain
  7. Don’t necessarily agree. Isak would give us a much better chance of securing the £50m p/a you get from the CL. And we spent all his fee on just 2 players ourselves.
  8. We were after Zenden and Jeffers at first. They chose Arsenal and Chelsea. We moved on to Robert and Bellamy. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/1437354.stm
  9. Think Woltemade is going to end up a Bellamy/Robert transfer. Eg not first choice but turns out a lot better then some of the ones we chased ahead. I rate Pedro but not as a striker. Sesko has potential but Man U is the graveyard.
  10. Don’t rate him as a 9. Poor track record of scoring anyway. I like him as a 10 but he’ll not okay there for Chelsea ever. Ronaldo scored 24 goals in the CL and PL @ the age of 37. He’s insane man. Even now, if he was happy to play 20 minutes he would be a net positive.
  11. Personally, I’m not suggesting the transfer is downgraded or the premium is a negative. In truth it’s too early to judge him other than he has bags of talent and ability. The premium thing to me is just a matter of fact. Isak came with a premium and it was fantastic business. Much better than the JP at £30m that we were close to signing. Etikite for less than £25m would’ve been a total steal. He’s tripled in value in 3 years. Minteh quadrupled his value in a year the £8m was a bargain and I thought he had potential to be a £60m player.
  12. I always said he seemed to struggle with stamina. Pretty much the entire time he was here but it did get better. I think there’s just something in his physicality that isn’t great. Someone like that missing pre-season will set him back a lot. Someone like Tonali seems naturally super fit with great stamina and would require much less time to get up to speed. It’s a very individual thing.
  13. The difference between what was accepted from Como and our own is a literal premium. His value increased €10m without playing a single competitive game anywhere. But ok man.
  14. As I watched the second half. Great hate watch. Looked utterly unfit. Liverpool slow to give him the ball. im delighted. Looks way off it with a long way to go.
  15. Semenyo’s some lad aye? delighted for him. I know he signed a new deal in the summer - assume he has a release clause? He can be a bit greedy mind. The progress he has made in his career is brilliant.
  16. I didn’t say it was bad. I said we paid a premium. Organic fruit has a premium. Rolls-Royce cars has a premium. It doesn’t make it bad. But you are paying a little extra… usually for a positive reason. Premier league to premier league transfers have a premium. Everyone acknowledges that. That premium is because there’s a perceived less risk in those transfers. There’s a bonus PL to PL premium when the player is young, English and players from top 6 clubs often come with a premium. That covers the Lewis Hall and Livramento situations. Tino in particular has been a massive success and is now an England international. We would struggle to double our money on him because the initial fee had a premium. Most transfers involving a foreign club and a PL club has a premium. This is part of the premium we’ve paid for Thiaw. And it seems AC Milan went from wanting to sell and the only buyer being another Italian club at a price point. To not wanting to sell and the buyer being a PL club. So the price increased - that’s a premium. I dunno why I’m explaining such a simple concept. People have their narratives and agendas and that’s all they see.
