We’ve sold the best young player in Minteh. Im fine with Anderson leaving mind. Probably for the best for him too. -

I think we’ll need to continue to trade to buy new players. But at least we can do it at our own pace. -

I think they thought we could get £40m odd from Wilson, Anderson, Almiron, Trippier and co. The market for older players is slow I guess. It’s younger players that are moving quickly. Im ok with Anderson leaving, hurt that Minteh has left. Mostly because there’s a few lads ahead of them that I would rather leave. Truthfully, they may need to leave anyway to fund transfers. -

I think it’s a favour. We’ll buy someone off them in the next accounting period imo. -

I’m ok with this one as I don’t think he’s going to be good enough to hold down a regular place and we have numbers in midfield. The biggest issue is we have 3-5 players that could fetch similar money who are likely on bigger wages and have definitely maxed out their value (Longstaff, Almiron, Murphy, Trippier, Wilson). Anderson’s value could steal increase over time. The others will only decrease. We’ll probably have to sell most of those to fund new transfers anyway. -

Oh we did need more money to meet the FFP budget. £40m odd. Yeh there’s been some mistakes. -

Evidently - we did need to sell for FFP reasons. Why take the risk and spend 30m now? If he’s the real deal they can get him for 70-80m in a year or two. And they’ve got Salah, Szob, Elliott as left footed attackers. Points deduction is a non starter. CL spots are usually decided by 1-3 points. -

Aye seems that way. Unless PIF suddenly change their approach or we have a constrained summer. -

No you didn’t. You spoke about PSR. We might need to sell Bruno next summer for PSR reasons. It won’t be because we don’t need him or think we can do better. Eddie Howe himself said he didn’t want to sell ASM for football reasons but cos of FFP we needed to sell. Thats easy enough for him, why can’t you say it? This back and forth is in bad faith from you. Enjoy your evening. -

Ultimately - I believe the tweet and the tweet quoted. We are reluctantly selling Minteh. Everything suggests he’s going to be a baller. But if not him we would need to sell a proven baller for us. We’ve done the best we can in a bad situation. We’ve left it too close for comfort and could’ve managed it better. BTW folks - unless we get a raft of new sponsors or suddenly find buyers for all the squad players. We’ll almost certainly need to sell next season to just comply. We better hope there’s a market for Joe Willock -

Agreed. As we stand this is the best scenario. But this should’ve been managed better from get-go. You didn’t answer my question. Do you think the club are buying selling hi for footballing reasons? Obviously the club are fine with selling him for PSR reasons- that is what they are doing. It’s better than the alternatives. If we had to sell Gordon or take a points deduction the club would also be fine with that. That doesn’t make it an optimal decision. -

I’m not negative. This clearly isn’t the worst case scenario. Taking points deductions or selling Isak or someone would’ve been far worse. I’ve said this repeatedly. One or two have said this is ‘gross mismanagent’ or similar and I’ve disagreed. But at the same token. We’ve made a few bad calls and miscalculations. And ultimately we’ve been a bit lucky. If not Minteh, it would’ve had to be Gordon or someone. That’s both a relief and scary. -

I mean. They will have revenue forecasts. Revenues are fairly easy to predict in January to within £10m or so. They 100% knew we were likely to breach FFP and needed to sell in January. That’s why we had all of those bids. The most sensible answer is they thought we could sell a non purple by June. And they ended up being right. But it was someone at the Lower end of their potential value (Minteh) rather than the highest (Wilson, Trippier etc.) -

Who views the club with the most negative stance? Most are saying it’s the best worst case scenario. -

The evidence suggests we are selling him right now to meet the PSR deadline. That suggest we are on track to break FFP unless we make a sale. Making sales so close to the deadline suggests the issue hasn’t been managed with the best preparation. But good enough to meet the deadline. These are all things fairly simple to conclude by thinking people. -

Do you think the people at the club want to sell him for football reasons? What do you think of Brightons recruitment approach? I’m not sold on Minteh becoming a world beater. I’m sold that the underlying data for Minteh suggests that he’s one of the most promising teenage wingers in Europe. I think the evidence pointed out high potential when he was in scandi and we paid a pretty penny at the time to take the risk. The evidence points again that the kid is a problem which is why several clubs are willing to spend £30m on a teenager with 1 season in the Eredivisie. Including the smartest operators in the premier league Brighton. -

They sold Palmer becaus they couldn’t guarantee his minutes so Palmer wanted to leave. And I think they probably regret it. Ferram Torres, James Trafford, Douglas Luiz, Edozie, Bazunu- not good enough. That’s the Real Madrid model. I don’t mean Minteh will be as good as Foden. City sell youngsters because they will not be good enough for City or the youngster wants to leave and play. If the kids want to stay and they rate the kid - they’ll keep him. That’s Rico Lewis and Phil Foden. We aren’t selling Minteh because we don think he’s good enough so we’ll take the money. Man City have never sold a player for FFP violation reasons - they’ll break the rules before they do that (allegedly). -

Aye. That’s the silver lining in a good and bad way. If it wasn’t Minteh - it would’ve been a top player. That’s a huge relief and fucking scary at the same time. -

Because the youngster isn’t good enough for the team so they sell him. Arsenal sold us Willock because they didn’t think he would be Arsenal level and they used the money to buy Odegaard. He was never going to get a game. City couldn’t promise Palmer he would be a regular at 21. Minteh might already be better than what we have in the squad. His ceiling is considerably higher than the RWs in the squad. -

Little interest? Everton, Lyon, Brighton all willing to bring in our highest ever sale no? This is like City selling Phil Foden at 19. Minteh is meant to be good enough for where we want to be in a couple years. It’s not like selling James Trafford who would be on the bench for as long as Ederson is around. I also think the club expected someone to activate the Bruno clause. In retrospect we seem to have advertised it. It’s the only thing that makes sense.
