I’m not suggesting doing anything Chelsea and Villa haven’t. That’s a precedent. if you could share compelling evidence of the contrary I would change my opinion.
-
Does PIF owning the club make you sick? amanda and Reubens are literal massive Tories right? You hate them too? I actually agree with you. But we are a massive part of the problem. But we I mean our owners.
-
We are owned by a nation state. We signed the AC Milan captain in an offer deemed too good to turn down. We signed Isak after Betis finished 6th in La Liga and we finished 11th. If our owners wanted. They could buy assets into Newcastle and sell it to themselves. They have the financial resources. We can hate the game. But it’s futile hating the players when we are one. And one of the worst if we’re being honest from a worldwide perspective.
-
Nothing stopping the club selling assets to itself. Stop being a victim. If PIF were determined too they would ruin the PL with us.

Backup 10. And an option upfront and wide. Legit. An option.
-
The funding the rivals only annoys me because they haven’t spammed a PSR money hack yet.
-
@KaKa what do you think of this?
-
He doesn’t play upfront. he was signed for €50m. I doubt he’s available for €65 but could be wrong.
-
Yeh I hear that. But if we’ve lost out on JP - let’s wait and see if we can identify a like for like alternative position wise. Because Janpawel and TCD don’t know alternatives doesn’t mean the club doesn’t. I agree there are not lots of easy to identify alternatives like there is at RW. I feel like we change shape for JP personally.

You sound hurt and uptight. I’ve not even criticised the club for this transfer! For this particular situation there’s nothing they could do. You are unable to hold even the slightest nuance in a view. You’re upset and angry that other fans are concerned. Youve got the right hump at me because I’ve said ‘hey man, I can see why they might be concerned’. If it’s not blind praise everything is going great and everything is perfect and to plan - you get upset.

The precedent to hack PSR is there. -
We are fans. Fans sometimes criticise the club they support. The people running the club and all the employees are aware of that. Fans are significant stakeholders of a club. We are not the non factors you seem to suggest we are to the club.

It’s not our job to come up with alternatives. He wouldn’t cover LCM anyway. He would change the shape of the team.

I like Andrew Santos a lot from what I’ve seen of him.

IMO we would be in a better place now if she was still here. She would’ve learnt from that and maybe needed stronger controls from PIF/Eales. Amanda-less Newcastle don’t seem to get much done business wise. -

They gambled and competed - ultimately fell short but they are not going to fall foul of FFP. So no worse than where they started. Have a UEFA Cup spot they wouldn’t have if they didn’t gamble. A When we qualified for the CL first time, struggled to compete in the league and in the CL - didn’t qualify for Europe and ended up selling our 2 brightest young players for less then their current market value. I think overall Howe has outperformed Emery. Can maybe argue Nickson and co. have outperformed Monchi. But the owners, money men at Villa are well ahead. They are managing what is less resources, better than us. There’s even a fan conspiracy that we won’t ever play funny PSR games (although we definitely already have - and done it badly) because of a gentleman’s agreement with the PL that allowed PIF to buy the club. People believe that because we are so stationary when it comes to circumventing PSR. -
James Trafford (now playing for Manchester City)

Be great to get this over the line. Not sold on him personally but think it will do a lot for the feeling around the place to get a deal done. -
Yeh. It’s the profile I liked most about Pedro. There’s no obvious backup in the league of that same profile. Might require 2 players or someone from left field.
-
No string links to Grealish and Rice. Elanga, Trafford, Guehi, Mbeumo, Joao Pedro, Delap, Cunha. These have all been strongly linked. Some of the most reputable journalists on the planet have reported bids for most of these. Not landing any of them so far - isn’t a great look. You won’t land all your targets and there’s reasons for everything. I’ll add Kelly and Tosin. In the last 2 years I think those are all the players we’ve been linked too the strongest. We’ve landed 1 of them so far. again there are reasons for everything. In 2+ years we’ve landed 1 first team target. Take a step back. That’s not a great endorsement of the entire management of the club top to just before Howe. Add to that no concrete news on stadium or training ground. No point spending more time this Sunday morning on this. We have different views on business, PIF and everything. Enjoy the day pal.

Maybe on paper but in reality no. The contest is we also won a cup. The atmosphere in the club was terrible and that does matter. And we have a thin, ageing squad that we couldn’t improve. That means having to take the same squad and come up with new winning tactics where most other clubs are able to evolve. In the context it was A1 managing.
-
Howe is the head coach. IMO Tino and Hall are where they should be. Both were recognised as top talents when we signed them. I can only talk about when I can see. We’ve got no long term CEO or DOF. No news 3.5 years later on stadium and training centre. 3.5 years to deal with PSR/FFP and it’s still holding us back more than any other club.

Just shy of miracles. The season went to the best case scenario. Could we get into the CL? ‘Yeh maybe if not being in Europe allows every player to play at the top of their game throughout and having some luck with injuries and the form of others… and perhaps 5th being CL too.’ We went the whole season with 2.2 fit central defenders. Jacob Murphy’s output was what 3rd best in the league at RW? And he was fit the entire season which was great because we had - natural RW for half a season. Tonali ended up being at least - as good as everyone hoped he could become - imo better. Isak was Isak and stayed fit for the whole season pretty much. Season was damn near perfect on the pitch.
-
Howe is keeping this club together imo. What else looks to be done at a world class level recently?
-
We were never seriously looking at Grealish or Rice. There’s no evidence of strong links to either. Several of these players we’ve been chasing for years. Still having protracted sagas to get them signed or not. It’s just not a good look. I’m personally not overly worried. Particularly when we are gazumped by others. But the protracted nature of the Elanga and Trafford deal don’t reflect well on those meant to be closing deals. And again - the uncertainty around the clubs management - isn’t a great reflection of the leadership either. We can only judge the window at the end. There’s some positive indicators in our approach but a lot of negative indicators too.

Doesn’t look like it does it? This time last year most of the panic deals were done an and just a few were being concluded like ours. ‘Villa’s gambled backfired’, ‘they are taking crazy risks’ If there’s a will there’s a way. Except at Newcastle. Then there’s no way.
