  1. That's the game. We've had good success on fairly priced PL players like Barnes, Burn, Pope - those deals are hard to land at decent prices. Not players big clubs would've been after in any situation maybe Barnes the exception actually. Botman, Tonali, Bruno, Isak, Hall, Tino, Gordon - all signings other big clubs would've looked at and decided too much money for the risk. We have to continue down this route imo.
  2. This is where the hesitation and frustration around Elanga and to a lesser extent JP and Guehi comes from. For the fees mentioned we would want higher ceiling players.
  3. Agree with whoever said we need to take calculated risks on potential world class players that other elite clubs are lot confident or ready to pull the trigger on. OR/AND pay a premium for those players. I think that’s what we’ve done with Tino, Hall, Isak and Tonali. That’s where I trust the counting teams judgment a lot.
  4. Being dropped just tanks his value. If they are desperate for £30m - cool. Unless he gets a major injury that rules him out for most of the following season - he’s getting a massive contract at a new club.
  5. Agree that he ends up at Chelsea or Liverpool. Most likely next season. If they sign his replacement and don’t play him. That might force him to Move. But most likely he’ll do a Konate and go for free next season
  6. In Kaka's defence - he does try to stick to talking football. I've had a small difference of opinion about Quansah and it's actually small one. I don't think Liverpool think he's good enough, Kaka thinks they don't think he's good enough right now. We agree on not being good enough right now, good fee for all probably, good for the player. It's not a big enough difference of opinion to fall out over. Kaka can come across as a "know it all" desperate to be right - but he's just sharing his opinions about football - even if the logic is suspect.
  7. This isn't the travesty it used to be. Even for Palace.
  8. We got thugged out against Dortmund. Slim but definitive margins. On the whole we were pretty poor in the CL. Lucky to get a draw against Milan imo. Didn't have enough about us in the home game. Phenomenal at home to PSG. Shit decision in Paris but on balance of play a draw was a fortunate result. Not good enough in either tie against Dortmund. On the balance of play we deserved 3-5 points and no more. Tough as hell draw though.
  9. The Huijsen stuff is air. He was signed for £15m and was sold for £50m and they got a good season out of him. It would be annoying having to get a new CB again - but Huijsen would've paid for 2 £50m signings for a single season. Or one £50m signing for 3 years. The key to establishing ourselves as a top club is consitently delivering on the pitch. Qualifying for the CL again next season is priority 1. If a player that comes in for 1 season and then leaves - but is key in helping to achieve that - it's absolutely fine. In the mean time we are cracking up the FMV of our sponsorships and eating prize money.
  10. If they had the squad they ended with from the start they would've got CL football. Our squad is significantly weaker. When they beat us they brought Malen, Barkley, Rashford, Onana & Ramsey off the bench. 2 French internationals on the bench didn't get a minute. We are way short of that depth.
  11. You’re acting like Quansah is 19. Liverpool are in ‘win now mode’ by signing Wirtz and Kerkez who are both younger than Quansah. If Liverpool thought he could reach the standard, he would be in line to replace Konate when he’s 23. I do agree that it’s a good move for all parties. Quansah needs regular game time and he’s well off the level at Liverpool and will only play regularly due to injuries. Regular game time should help his stalling development. Leverkusen have a talented player who is unlikely to lose value in a world where Max Kilman is a £50m defender. Liverpool get a good fee.
  12. Yeh think Isak said him and Botman are close. Then introduced him to Elanga you would assume. football is a relatively small community and this generation is pally pally. But it is a bit mad.
  13. Liverpool rarely sell youngsters that go on to become top players. Quansah is 22. If they had high hopes for him they would keep him and sell Konate for whatever they could get.
  14. Minteh profiles as one of the best young wingers in Europe. Albeit - Eridivisie. Quansah doesn’t. Quansah plays for Liverpool so that’s +£10m
  15. aye no idea who is leading the club really. Whose baby is it?
  16. The amortisation for both is no more than £11m. Salary we won't know for sure.
  17. A fair amount will depend on bonuses. Salary will be 5m-7m - but CL, 20+ goals etc. might be worth £1-5m - who knows
  18. That guy is Gold tier as an FPL source.
  19. Yeh but these are all footballers. Like being fast and strong is a talent in tennis. It's not a technical talent but a talent nonetheless that helps with the game. When Bale ran off the pitch to run around that Barcelona player and scored - that was a goal that was only possible due to his insane physical talent. The overhead kick was still a display of talent but a different type. As are the freekicks he's scored. All a combination of incredible physical, technical, mental talents. I get it - in football we revere technical talents the most. Those are what I call "ballers". That Monaco winger looks a baller, Kudus is a baller. Elanga isn't. Doesn't mean they are not talented footballers.
  20. All are talents that are honed. That ability to do tricks - mentally and physically - is a talent. Dancing is a talent. Running fast is a talent. Being strong is a talent.
  21. I'm surprised that people consider talent - learned. It's the opposite to me. Another definition: the natural endowments of a person I think Gordon and Elanga have limited technical talents. I don't see great natural ability in them.
  22. talent /ˈtalənt/ noun 1. natural aptitude or skill. Talents are natural skills or aptitude. Athleticism is a primary talent. I think the players are as technically talented as ever. It's just the tactics are more structured and defenders are more physically gifted. Zidane was 6'2, strong as fuck and deceptively fast for example. Tactics in his day were largely - give him the ball and do what it do. He didn't have to track back, mark anyone, press anyone. Just focus on balling out.
  23. Do people think athleticism is a talent? I do. But a lot of people almost don’t. Size, power, agility, balance, strength, speed, engine etc. all talents. I agree about Elanga vs Kudus btw. But Elanga’s physical talents are genuinely next level.
