Leicester have to sell due to genuine finances - not FFP. They've got a lot of players on good wages. Which they've previously financed through player sales. COVID, few years without a massive sale, average revenue - brings them to this point.

As in too good to be true? there were a few here not hot on Raph and Phillips. And they’ve both ended up at some of the biggest clubs in the world. Maddison and Cornet for £70m is good work imo. It’s clear we are basing things on a deal by deal basis. We have the money to buy Harrison but we don’t think he’s worth £40m. If we don’t bid again for Maddison perhaps we can assume £40m is our limit but I think and hope we’ll bid higher. We’ve bid for James Maddison August 1st. No previous links. At £40m we’ve paid a bit of a premium there. Would rather spend £40m on a James Maddison. Oh that’s not enough either.’ no predefined budget. no specific targets. Just looking for good deals for good players… with several years left on the contract, mid 20’s, proven PL performers. These will cost a premium.

£40m is a time wasting offer. We don’t have that much time left. Harrison. Rumoured to have bid £30m was it ? Leeds wanted £40m. We’ve seemingly moved on and offered that money for another player - also been rejected.

1 week from the season starting - yes. £40m for Maddison is a steal. Serious conversation starts at 48/50m. We’ve history of bidding significantly less than asking price and simply moving on.

Leicester not selling him for £40m. I wouldn’t mind if we had not bid for Harrison about 10-20m less than what Leeds would sell for and seemingly just moved on. Now we’ve offered the money Leeds would want for Harrison, for someone that is likely to cost £15m more.

The more I think about this. The more I’m annoyed. We keep bidding under the value of the players we want in attacking positions.

I don’t rate Almiron or Fraser at all. He’s a step above them. If he can play 30 league games, it’s better than playing them.

This is why i asked the question earlier. I don't rate him like that. But at this point, £20m - i'd take him. Big wages mind and suspect injury record. There's something seriously wrong with his achilles.

I personally think Harrison and Cornet fit that bracket. But neither transfer feels close.

This idea that you can't have an opinion on the window - 1 week before the season starts - is silly. Nobody is coming to any conclusions but clearly a lot of work needs to be done to make it a good window.
