You can be encouraged all you want...the facts are we lost both games without scoring There is absolutely no point in being tight at the back if we cannot score for s***............teams that don't score many goals go down simple Boro had a fabulous defensive record last year but scored the lowest in the division...guess what happened Absolute rubbish. Start of the season we were tight, well organised, defensively sound and winning a few tight games albeit losing tight games too. Atleast we were in contention in games. Switching to essentially 442 and playing more open has badly exposed us and we've been all over the shop ever since even if we've looked like scoring more. It's a fine balance but you need to be in games to take points. No point scoring 1 or 2 goals in a game if you're shipping more and coming away with no points. That team that got relegated in 88/89 Had an FA Cup winning goalkeeper and captain, a brazillian, scotlands top scorer. yes they didn't all gel correctly but it wasn't that bad. We were fucked from the moment Tony Cottee scored his hat trick on day 1. We did win at Anfield that year though

No need to drop Elliot for an inferior keeper, no need to piss about with fullbacks constantly. No need to swap diame,perez etc A settled core of players would have had us more points I do believe and the constant squad rotation is totally unnecessary Im not completely anti Rafa by any means but I do feel hes given more of a free pass than previous managers just because of who he is. If we get taken over and its by serious money and we do somehow stay up I would not be against sacking him and going all out for Ancelotti to be honest
