Salary cap/ transfer cap are good ideas in theory, but in practice they wouldn't be workable, money and power are the drivers, and the big teams want to keep it that way. A squad size limit (apart from homegrown players - you can play as many of your youngsters) is probably the most realistic option. I like the MLS system, just wouldn't be applicable in Europe.
