Would be interesting! Would be an amazing deal both ways.

They were talking about him on the Guardian podcast this week. Apparently he's class but a bit mental? Excellent to sit back and has an extremely good shot and plays two positions very well. Haven't seen his mental parts, but he does love to tackle so I can imagine when it goes wrong, it really goes wrong.

Luiz Gustavo close to signing with Wolfsburg now. Arsenal would be stupid not to make an extremely late move and hijack that deal. Although I do understand Wenger not wanting to splash £18m of the little cash he uses on someone like Luiz Gustavo.

We talk about Benny lad, but this guy with almost 100kg to his name is playing extremely well for Goias in Brazil and scoring a lot of goals. Belongs to Porto if I'm not completely mistaken. Scored last night to draw against Flamengo. http://p1-cdn.trrsf.com/image/fget/cf/619/464/images.terra.com/2013/08/08/waltercomemoracarloscostafp.jpg

He's an ok player, unfortunately for them I think he's a bit to rash and able to pick up stupid fouls. Always late into tackles. Still... his duty wasn't defensive midfielder actually... he's attacking midfielder... his range range of passing (andrea pirlo style of passing) gonna feed michu & bony well... just perfect signing for laudrup tactics. I don't think he's been played as a defensive midfielder, not form what I've seen in anycase. I was more suggesting that having a player that's a bit rash is always a concern especially when he doesn't make up for it in his general play. I don't find his range of passing impressive at all, and I'd think they're better off starting De Guzman - Britton behind than Shelvey with one of the two. There's no place for De Guzman, Britton, Michu and Shelvey in that starting line-up. I do think he has huge potential though, but he hasn't proven it yet.

Anders Svensson is easily Sweden's best midfielder. Should be starting.
-
Why? Because he scored two easy goals and then scored a free-kick my grandmother would've saved? But yeah, he's a very good player Another four goals for Zlatan. Yeah he's s***. He's actually a very good player, one of the best in the world, but to say he scored four is a bit of an exaggeration.

I meant as defenders as well. I really don't rate Schmelzer, for me always the weakest link for Borussia.
-
I'm not disagreeing at all that it's the unit btw, I'm just saying that it becomes harder to have a great unit when individually you don't have great defenders. As for Brazil's defence I do think that both our fullbacks are much better than Schmelzer and I have seen us over and over again to tell you that without Thiago Silva we would leak goals.
-
Of course it isn't. Don't know what he's on about. Haven't watched England national side play, but I do think a defence of Johnson - Terry - Cahill - Cole/Baines is probably on par if not better than that. Might be down to the fact that I don't rate Hummels the way most on here seem to do. Lahm I have down as the best RB, but for me the remaining three are very average. Terry - Cahill for me is a better pairing than Hummels - Mertesacker. But once again it's all down to my opinion of Hummels.
-
But it's a friendly. I mean they could change Lahm and Hummels for worse players, they still shouldn't be conceding 3 against Paraguay.
-
And not completely undeserved. They look very smooth on the ball their team and we look disjointed once again even if I'd say we've been the more dangerous side.
-
That's why they won't win the World Cup, awful defensively. Was looking at their starting four. Lahm - Mertesacker - Hummels - Schmelzer  That's actually not even close to being a good enough WC winning back four. Italy, Brazil, Spain even England, all have better. Thing is though, they and Argentina have the best offensive power in the world. Lahm is the best RB in the world, Mertesacker was part of the Arsenal team that conceded the second least goals in the league last year, Hummels and Schmelzer are part of the Dortmund back 4 that got to the CL final last year and won the Bundesliga the two previous years. Problem isn't the individuals, its how the team defends as a unit as it is with any team. Individuals are overplayed. The problems is always the team, but neither Mertesacker, Hummels or Schmelzer (are IMO anyhow) top class defenders. Hummels is the better of the three, but the times I've seen Mertesacker and Schmelzer commit mistakes is unbelievable. As for talking about defenders. Dani Alves just scored heck of an own goal

Shaqiri is a really good player. And Neymar is so good with the ball at his feet, should've had a pelanty.
-
This friendly. 3 yellow cards already. Lichensteiner should've been off already too. I love it, we're dirty bastards. Reminds me of the typical Argentinian side.

Switzerland - Brazil. For anyone who cares.

He speaks very good portuguese and is sometimes invited on a Brazilian football talk show during the days. Definitely seems to know his stuff, but that's what happens when you live in Brazil.

Wow now I know who the portuguese speaking englishman is. Have a lot of time over for him, seems to know a fair deal about what he's talking about.
