What exactly does Willock excel at?
-
Yes, but it’s also the first game in a while that I feel like the European side is trying and really wants to win. The only title missing for Chelsea.
-
Chelsea v Palmeiras atmosphere is crazy right now. 1-1 with 20min to go.
-
A Leeds win here would officially make it a five team relegation battle.
-
Straight out of the Pardew-book.
-
Not one player in our team is capable of turning a player away and playing a ball like that.
-
He will if he starts him.
-
Willock has 0 goals for us this season, apart from that fantastic patch last season what makes him a must due to his goal scoring abilities? If anything Joelinton at least keeps getting himself into these positions almost every other game. Sure he’s missing them, but he’s getting there and maybe just maybe with some confidence he might score (or not ) That being said I don’t care who is dropped. But our midfield is bad, and despite two straight wins we just need to throw Bruno in there and get him adapted to this league as quickly as possible as that will give us a bigger chance to stay up.
-
Agreed. Don’t really get this Willock love. He has looked better than previously, but in what way has he made himself undroppable? Seriously, he’s been nothing special.
-
In hindsight we should’ve appointed Gerrard and signed Coutinho and Digne along with Bruno to this team.
-
Honest to god. This talk about this midfield being inform is ridiculous. We beat Leeds and Everton. Two bad teams at the moment. The bar is set really low if we feel like we want to keep these three in because they’re playing well. We need to have higher standards if we want to stay up and Bruno is clearly our best midfielder. You have to start him against Villa.
-
I like Joelinton, but if we want to really improve we need to have all three that started last night on the bench comw august.
-
Agreed. Bruno is better than all of our midfielders so no matter who is dropped we’ll improve anyway.
-
Sackable offence if he doesn’t start both Brazilians on Sunday.
-
start him ahead of Shelvey/Willock. No need to mobe Joelinton when he’s finally playing well for the team.
-
Hmm... he’s very clearly talented. As for any team,he did well for Santos and was equally as hyped. His stint in Europe was a failure most probably because of attitude and not because of effort why I wouldn’t like him here. Anyways, back to Bruno. Has to start next match.
-
As someone until a week ago unbiased in that discussion I agree with you. Gerson is very talented, but just like Gabigol he’s nowhere near talented enough to not bother to put an effort in. That’s why Bruno will be at the World Cup and Gerson not. Same goes for Gabigol. He won’t be there while Cunha who is less talented might.

Most important match in a long time. Win here and it’s going to be a boost and feel like we’ve turned this season around with 7points from 9 against relegation rivals. Lose this and we are in big big trouble.
-
Agreed regarding Fred even though for the past few games under Rangnick and national team he has done very well. I like Bruno and really hope he excels here, but at the Olympics he played the #8 role with Douglas Luiz as the defensive midfielder and he didn’t exactly show he deserves to start for the national team just yet. Confident this move will help him even though I feel Qatar is a tad to close out. Hope everything you are saying about his time at Atl Paranaense and talents are true. We’ve been in dire need of a good central midfielder controlling the tempo. Think your harsh on Fernandinho btw, he almost always did well for the NT, but unfortunately his time will be stained by the 7-1 and the own goal against Belgium. His two most important matches for us unfortunately.

HTT I can definitely understand where you’re coming from. I mean you guys share the trait of writing looong posts Joking aside. Glad @JNK has joined as the second Brazilian. The more the merrier.
-
Turned that game on. Saw Colback is playing. Turned it off.

Bem-vindo JNK! Glad we agree on Gabigol and Antony. Don't necessarily agree on Bruno being underrated per se. He's done well for Lyon and a lot expect him to be that 4th central midfielder for the WC with Casemiro, Fabinho and Fred if he keeps performing. But he wasn't exactly stand out at the Olympics or the French league. However, with the shower of shit at this club in midfield, it's his time to shine and I hope come November he's in midfield along Casemiro/Fabinho in the starting XI, because that will have meant he's had a great start to his career at Newcastle. Will be interesting to see Howe's plan with him, as I don't see him as the most deep lying midfielder in this team right now and he doesn't have the motor to cover ground for both him and Shelvey either. As for @Kanji's question regarding Matheus Cunha. I was just thinking he would be very attainable and a realistic player if we're going down the Brazilian route prior to seeing that post. Gets very few minutes for Atletico Madrid and is definitely deserving of more. He's by no means a classic goalscorer, but I feel like he makes the little stuff that a team like ours would need. He's constantly creating spaces for teammates and he's quite decent in the air. Was just watching Barcelona v Atletico and he came on and Atletico instantly became a better side. Could definitely do with a player like him for this team. Only question mark regarding Cunha is whether he really is a striker or not. If Watford goes down a player like Joao Pedro could also be a realistic option, looks like a younger Richarlison right now.
