    Bafetimbi Gomis

Well all they said is we were holding talks with Bent, which is actually backed up by the comments that have just come out saying Bent and his agent were unhappy with the talks. Still wouldn't trust anything The Mirror says though

The other positive way to look at it is if we fail to sign Remy or Gomis we now don't have to worry about the possibility of Darren Bent 'strutting his stuff' at St James' next season.

The pissing about on Gomis is annoying and we certainly need to get a move on with transfers. But I don't see why you're so negative regarding Remy, he's a quality player and if we do get him on loan with a pre-agreed future transfer fee it'll be a great deal surely? The body's out the door so far are Simpson, Harper and Perch and I bet you wouldn't be looking to replace any one of them this summer. There's been no indication that anyone else will leave outside of Gosling, and he's another one nobody will miss.

Please don't talk sense, just type "£2m" and some lulz, join the party.

Villa are desperate to get him out of the club. What other option do they have? Mike has got them by the balls. They have Fulham who have actually made a respectable offer. This smacks of us fucking around to kill time What have Fulham offered? Really hope £2m is as high as we'll go by the way.

Okay but we are now hot favourites to land Gomis, Bent, Remy. Still favourites to sign Gomis according to Lyon's president, but then again he does seem like a looney. I think Lyon's president would prefer him to sign for us because they would get more money, but it just feels as if Gomis is going to hold out for Marseilles in January. Its all quite confusing, you'd think if he was desperate to get Gomis to come here to avoid a move to Marseilles in January he'd have accepted the 8m Euro offer straight away. Not one news source claimed the offer was accepted and apparently we're saying we've "left the offer on the table" in case they decide to accept. He could be, but that doesn't explain Lyons rather odd position. We have this weird vague comment from Aulas that suggests something about them not being the problem, yet every source at the time said the bid was rejected and none since have reported otherwise. I suppose it couldbe Aulas who's trying to convince other clubs we're close to signing him to encourage bids, or maybe Aulas and Gomis are working together, who fucking knows what's going on at this point

I do hope Fulham sign him as soon as possible. Remove what Kinnear ect think of as their safety net, plus IMO he's not what we need (but I think everyone knows that by now )
  10. I agree that sometimes we should be prepared to spend a bit more if we really need a player (though not on the occasions when clubs increase their demands in the middle of negotiations). Its the complaints that we only sign whatever player is cheapest and wingeing about how club A has spent more than us and signed a more expensive player than we will that I hate.
  11. There are different kinds of debt, some are sustainable and can even be positive and some are anything but. Like I said I agree we could afford to spend a bit more and we may yet do so and we could spend a lot more this summer if Ashley was prepared to put some money in temporarily or get into some temporary debt (basically spend next seasons increased TV money now). But talking about how other clubs are spending money without having any idea of how their finances are is nothing but ignorance.
  12. So we do have reasons for signing the player other than he's going cheap yeah? Ok fair enough, I know what you mean, it would be nice for price to be less of an issue than it is. I just hate the whole "oh no this club has bought a more expensive player than we have" thing, as if there's a league table for who has spent the most on a player. Who would you rather have, Ben Arfa at £5.75m or Stewart Downing at £20m? Price is always the most important factor. Balance of Price and Ability is, which is what we do and we do it well. Can't disagree with that. So well in fact we've finished in the top half once since 2006. New transfer system has only been in place since we went down. We've done very well in terms of transfers since then, not their fault the managers a loon. No, not one bit. At all. Not their fault there's one goalscorer in the squad either. But if we sign Remy and Gomis we'd have three goal scorers but your complaints would remain the same. All those clubs mentioned would still have out spent us and we'd still have brought in players of value rather than just going out and spending big.
  13. Oh so we look for players that add to the quality of the squad, who offer potential resale value and who are within our financial means. Sounds more realistic than "cheap" players, cos we'd have just gone out and landed Can't Control... Within our financial means. We're the 19th richest club in the world being consistently outspent by clubs who get half out attendances and you dare to actually to defend this bollocks? No business supporting NUFC whatsoever. Not doubting that we could afford to spend a bit more, but surely you realise that the "richest clubs list" is revenue not actual available cash and also that plenty of the clubs outspending us are just putting themselves in debt to do so.

Can't disagree with that. So well in fact we've finished in the top half once since 2006. We didn't even get our current scouting/transfer system in until 2009/2010. Certainly since Carr came in our signings have been very good in terms of quality and value.

Who would you rather have, Ben Arfa at £5.75m or Stewart Downing at £20m? Price is always the most important factor. Value is the most important factor after we enter into transfer negotiations for a player no doubt, of course it should be a big factor but I agree sometimes we should play hard ball a bit less for the really good players. But the way you and others keep talking about it we just go after who ever is cheapest and price is really all that matters. Clearly it isn't because I've got no doubts that Cisse wasn't the cheapest striker going when we signed him, same goes for Debuchy, same goes for Anita and many other players we've signed under Ashley. I think we have a list of targets we deem all good enough quality and look for the best bargains out of that list. That doesn't necessarily even mean signing the cheapest one, but signing the one with the best compromise between quality and value. Like I said, it would be nice if they'd put less emphasis on value sometimes, but I really couldn't care less if Crystal Palace end up spending more money than we do on a player when that player was Dwight Gayle for £8.5m.

  17. Oh no I had my heart set on an expensive player this summer as well, don't care who it is as long as he's expensive Well, it would be nice to target a player for reasons other than he's going cheap. If our only reason for targeting a player was price our main target would be Carlton Cole. Why don't we?, he'd be much cheaper. It would be great to be able to target whoever we want without considering price, or at least to push the boat out further than Ashley allows. I just hate the whole "Oh no's this club is spending more" thing.
  18. Oh no I had my heart set on a really expensive player this summer as well. Don't care who it is as long as he's expensive, preferably more expensive than most other clubs signings Maybe we can ask Lyon if they'll take a bit extra to get ourselves ahead of some of the clubs you just mentioned?

    Bafetimbi Gomis

That makes no sense. If they both were happy with what we're offering he'd be here now. It also makes no sense that Lyon would reject our offer because Gomis didn't want to move. I don't see why all the news sources would have gone with our offer being rejected if it wasn't. Could it possibly be that Lyon are willing to accept our offer if Gomis gives up his loyalty bonus/transfer percentage? He's not willing to do that so they rejected it even though they were happy with the amount we offered? EDIT: See someone else already thought of that.
  20. Teasy

    Bafetimbi Gomis

If that was the case then Lyon would have accepted our offer and allowed Gomis to turn the transfer down. But we never heard of any offer being accepted.
  21. Teasy

    Bafetimbi Gomis

Yeah it makes no sense any other way really. Lyon accepted 3 bids for Gomis last month and he turned down all three. This time no bid was accepted, the idea that Lyon just decided to turn the bid down because they heard Gomis wanted slightly higher wages than we were going to offer is ludicrous.
  22. Teasy

    Loïc Remy

Just depends how much he wants to get out of the Championship. Its one thing going to a bottom of the table Premier League club for higher wages. Quite another to stay in the Championship for higher wages, especially during a world cup year. Also depends on just how much we're prepared to contribute.
  23. Teasy

    Loïc Remy

Well that's not going to fucking happen is it. Remy could give up a portion of his wage. Wether the greedy cunt is prepared to do that is anyones guess.

If this was the players decision we'd have seen a bid accepted before it broke down. Dont know who Lyon think they're fooling like.
