We're talking about what the bigger problem is, lack of transfers or Pardew. What you're suggesting is akin to saying that if you have a hole in your pocket then not putting money in faster than it falls out is the biggest problem and not the hole itself. We need players, lack of transfers is a problem, Pardews still the bigger problem. What we really need is JFK to step in. No we need to bring in a decent manager (not that I see Kinnear are any worse tactically than Pardew mind). I'm not sure why the prospect of Kinnear possibly taking over should improve my view on Pardew's abilities. Some perspective and experience might. Pardews abilities as a manager are what they are, Kinnear might or might not be worse and might or might not take over if he's gone (certainly more embarrassing but not sure about being a worse tactician, I don't think that's possible). But that doesn't change what I think of Pardew.

Makes no sense at all, then again this place is like a mental institution at the moment Think I'll take a break from it.

Are you honestly trying to argue Pardew isn't a total and utter fuck up man?, really? Did you watch the Reading game near the end of the season?, or pretty much any game last season.

Fucking hell A couple of months away from Pardews constant backwards team selections and tactics and suddenly he's not all that bad a manager after all.. The fucker does his utmost to fuck up any chance we have during a game, uses players in the worst possible way, but the biggest problem now is that Kinnear hasn't signed anyone yet.. Its a problem, but the bigger issue is still our manager. Lets just wait until the season starts and read some of the match threads after Pardews gone ultra defensive against some nobody side at home to try to claw out a point and see just how much of a problem some of you think he is then.

We dont actually need strikers at the moment then? We didnt need a right back when we signed Debuchy? Or Santon either after Enrique left?.. Should I go on? Value is obviously quite a big factor, to much so, but its far from the only factor behind who we sign.

Can't see Lyon accepting a 9m Ehro offer at this point in time personally. They're going to think "8m then days later 9m, plenty of time to wait for 10m".

    Loïc Remy

Not sure how he could be. The only way they're keeping him is if he's convicted. Otherwise someone would activate his release clause, wether he's loaned out at the time or not. Suppose maybe he intends to try, but I cant see how its going to work.

Wouldn't worry like, the daily mail are so stupid they cant differentiate between 8m euros and 8m pounds so I seriously doubt they know anything more than your average bear. Edit: Read back, can I have a Giggs for this please?
  10. Teasy

    Loïc Remy

Technically theres already an option to buy though. If we loan him we can always still meet the release clause at any time during the season.

    Loïc Remy

Remy would have to win me over more so than other players and that'll probably be the case for quite a few of us. Though I can't deny that if we end up getting him on loan with a fee agreed that's less than we agreed to pay for him in January and QPR still paying some of his wages as he plays for us it would be quite satisfying

    Sunderland

I suppose one day they may get really lucky, get a decent manager to spend the money they're throwing around and manage to finish 6th or 5th. But then again we managed 5th two seasons ago so its hardly something that's beyond us. We're held back by Ashley's suicidal decisions and they're held back by being Sunderland. Also I wonder how long short will keep putting this amount of money in without results.

    Sunderland

Almost £9m spent on N'Diaye and Graham 6 months ago and both now out on season long loans

Like I've said before I really love sarcastaball

    Loïc Remy

Might be the best (or only offer) they get. If we have offered a loan with a clause to buy if he doesn't go down and no-one else is prepared to go in for him they can either accept and hope he doesn't get sent down or reject it and risk not getting anything for him anyway while having all his wages to pay. It might be, maybe we've offered say 500k loan fee with a guarantee of £6.8m (the clause fee?) if he's found innocent. Meaning they get rid of his wages and 500k more than they're going to get anywhere else. Its just that out of the two offers this was the one I thought least likely.
  16. Teasy

    Bafetimbi Gomis

Nope. The offer we have made is fair, despite being £1.7m under their apparent valuation. They should accept it forthwith and be grateful to receive so much. I disagree, I think we should simply pay whatever any club asks for no matter what the situation and just be glad someone wants our money.

    Bafetimbi Gomis

Three clubs had 10m Euro bids accepted for him a month ago, but he turned them all down. I know what you mean, its got to be difficult for him to accept 8m when a month ago he had three 10m offers. But he's got 1 months left and has gone from 4 clubs interested to 1 with a player who's shown 4 times already that he'll reject any move he doesn't really want (think he turned down Fenerbahce the window before as well). At the end of the day its not just what they value him at that's relevant here, they may think he's a 15m player and 10m is a good discount (personally I don't agree) but what do we value him at?

    Sunderland

If Sunderland managed to finish 5th like we did the season before last they'd already have "gotten it right" as much as they possibly could, they have absolutely no chance of ever breaking the top 4.
  19. Teasy

    Loïc Remy

Actually surprised QPR haven't rejected this already.
  20. Teasy

    Bafetimbi Gomis

Well I don't think Newcastle should guage the value of a player based on Transfermarkt or my opinion obviously. Like I said who knows what we value him at, I can only give my opinion. If we did go back with 9m Euros I wouldn't be disappointed, but at the same time I'm not going to have a go at them for not offering more than 8m Euros because IMO its a very good offer.

    Bafetimbi Gomis

We're already offering more than I'd ever expect us to in this situation. Who knows what we value him at but personally I'd value him at 10m Euro's if he had a lengthy contract. So I expected us to offer no more than 6m Euro's given he's only got one year left and is agitating for a move here. I think 8m is such a good offer, they want 10m btw. How lengthy a contract we talking here? Surely it differs depending on the exact number of years/months remaining? Anything 2 years or over, the important thing here is that because he has only a year left once this window closes they're very probably losing him for nothing. Because their next opportunity to sell him would be in January with 6 months left and by that time he can sign a pre-contract for a free transfer.

So I expected us to offer no more than 6 or so million Euro's given he's only got one year left and is agitating for a move here. I think 8m is such a good offer, also they want 10m. Also I think if we we're prepared to pay 9m Euro's we'd still have to wait a decent amount of time to offer that, or you can almost guarantee Lyon will think "7m, then 8m, now 9m in quick succession, plenty of time to wait for their 10m offer".
  23. Teasy

    Bafetimbi Gomis

He'll probably be thinking that they paid 13m Euro's 4 years ago and now he's a more consistent goal scorer. That's true, but what's also true is they were paying for potential then and while he is better now he still never reached the potential people expected of him. I think if it was August 25th or something this offer would have been accepted by now, but Aulas just thinks he has time to reject it and come back later if nothing better comes in. We should just move on to someone else plus Remy though IMO.

    Bafetimbi Gomis

8m euros was higher than I thought we'd go and a very good offer for a player who IMO is worth about 10-12m euros if he was on a lengthy contract. So I think we'll wait it out now. Lyon know they absolutely cant afford to let this drag on into January. Because at that point this offer would be nothing but a fond memory, they'd be lucky to get 4m. Also Gomis has shown that he's prepared to refuse transfers if its not the club he wants and he seems to want to come here. This Aulas bloke's trying to be tough but everythings stacked against him and IMO as the the window drags on its very likely he'll be picking up the phone and asking if 8m is still on the table.
