Leaving it another few weeks means our best players will leave, we won't have time the remove most of the shit high earners from the side (meaning a shit unmotivated side and the huge wage bill staying in place) and we may not even be able to get a decent manager. It would end up costing the new owners more then they could possibly save on the price of the club. IMO they'd only do that if they have no idea about Football. I think its quite possible that the buyers are holding on until Owen, Viduka etc contracts are up as theres at least a 1 million pound saving if the end of contract payment rumours are true, i know 1-2million is not a huge amount but it would pay 2 players 15k a week for a year, so if it was a case of holding on for 2-3 days then its sensible, but as you say holding on any longer than the middle of this week is just crazy. Unfortunately for them those payouts will be paid by the club and so will still be there to be dealt with by the new owners when they come in.

Were you in a changing room like?

Owen, Viduka, Cacapa, Lovenkrands, Edgar and Gonzales just FYI. Also our players don't have the pace to play in the Championship?, pace seriously? When we played Coventry last season they made Milner look quick for f*** sake! I'll have to give you that on the contracts. Couldn't remember the first team for ****. Anyway, I've watched a few Championship games in my time and they seem to play at a much faster pace. I don't know if it was because I watched a select few but from what I've seen the likes of Butt, Nolan and Duff won't have the legs nor the stamina to play in this league. The league is quicker in that its less about technique and more about work rate (more running), but whenver I've seen a Championship side real pace has been very rare. For instance Duff and Milner both looked excellent the last time they played Championship sides. Because they had better technique and for once they were at least as quick as the opposition, where as in the Premiership they just don't have the pace. I agree though that some of our midfield don't have the stamina needed for what is a much harder working league.

But why do they need to bring in recognised superstars? There's no reason why they couldn't buy up-and-coming youngsters instead of trying to buy Europe's biggest clubs' star players. They'll have to pay the players double what the biggest clubs would. I like the way Lerner and O'Neill are going about things at Villa. What Citeh are doing, and what Chelsea did before them is vulgar, and bad for football. At least Chelsea typically pay silly money to a smaller club, which is a good thing. Citeh are trying to make Europe's richest clubs even richer! Got no problem at all with what City are doing and it makes me laugh when the "big 4" clubs' fans have a whinge, when the reason they've pulled so far away from the rest of the pack is down to over-inflated prize money in the Champions League. Good luck to them I say, and I hope they get top 4 next season at either Arsenal or Liverpool's expense. Prize money from a Football competition vs money that has no connection with Football given to them for nowt by arabs, yeah just the same that like

But our main reason for needing to sell players is to drop the wage bill and Bassong is on fuck all, unlike 10 or more losers at the club on massive wages. We shouldn't be looking to sell our best players unless their wage is ridiculous.

Oh god no not again, I hope you realise you've inevitably started a raft of stupid administration posts, despite the fact the idea makes no sense at all If you quoted the whole post, he said that's why a sale for a lower price now would be more likely. I just meant the very mention of the word would start loads of silly "We're going into administration" posts.

No, how did you get that from my original post like? I think it will sell, no idea when though. Suggesting Parky and Jonny Hall were being overdramatic. Fact is we've no idea either way. I said Jonny was being dramatic because he painted a picture of everything that could go wrong going wrong until we finally went out of business. Not because he suggested we might not get a new owner. Of course we have no idea either way, doesn't mean that he wasn't being dramatic though. I could say I think we'll be taken over by crazy arabs and in 3 years we'll be world champions, we've no idea so it could happen but it wouldn't change the fact that I would be insanely optimistic if I said that.

:omg: How did I guess Parky would flock to that post like a very depressed moth to a flame

That's all we get. I haven't been keeping up with this is it really even likely to be true Dave? My gut instinct says no. Its from the News of the World so unfortunately its 100% false. I dunno. Don't NOTW have strong links with Ashley? Indeed, they are both full of s***. Well that's a given Seriously though, Rob Beasley (the guy who's sometimes on Sunday Supplement from NOTW) is apparently good mates with Ashley and I think it was only NOTW who Ashley gave an exclusive interview to earlier on in the season. Could well be wrong mind. Yeah that interview was full of shit as well. You might be right that they could be well connected with Ashley but that doesn't follow that they'll know what's happening, just what Ashley wants us to think is happening. I'll never believe a word that comic prints, I hate it and everyone involved with it with a fucking passion

Then don't make an offer, I'm sure the club will get along without your millions. Don't blame you

As long as you stop coming out with frivalous and illogical scenario's I shouldn't need too

Why?, is september out of season for financial talk like?

Completely nowt to do with what quayside said that like. Yeah cause I'm not allowed to take it sideways. I'll be right about everything ftr. The price. The lack of buyers. and all the other shit that will inevitably follow... Wasn't sideways, it was a complete change of subject. Good luck with being right about everything though

Its only partially dependent on what happens on the pitch at this club like. I mean we've been getting sell outs for seasons despite doing poorly in the Premiership and had an average attendance of 50,000 last season when we got relegated. I can still see us getting over 40,000 in the Championship if Shearer gets a long term deal, though no doubt that would dwindle over time if we stayed down for too long.
-
No one was demanding that he leave this time so why pretend he wants to sell?
-
Ask Shepherd and the Hall's, they made nearly £200m. Aye, but only by putting the club in massive debt and then flogging it to a mental. Can lightning strike twice? A mental , I like it. I didn't mean the total Ashley paid including the debt by the way, just the £134 they got for the club as well as all the money they'd taken in wages and share dividends.

I agree we're not worth that purely in business terms I didn't claim we were. I'm talking about what we're worth in the current market based on what people pay for Football clubs (especially what people were willing to pay for us not 6 months ago). Most clubs bought these days aren't worth half what people pay for them in real business terms, most don't make money and in fact are insolvent. Its not just profit people are interested in but also the status of owning a Football club. In pure business terms we weren't worth £200m 6 months ago, but people were willing to pay more then that. £80-£90m seems reasonable in the current market, like I said £100m is on the high side but not as bonkers as some think IMO. It'll probably go for £90m or something. By the way we do have a guarentee of reducing the wage bill, we're guarenteed to chop £15m off it in July. While nothing more then that can be guarenteed there are certain players on high wages who will make sure they leave and have plenty of clubs interested. We'd only need to sell 4 or 5 of them to remove the other £15m+.

Like I said, Ashley was offered over £200m by two seperate parties last time he tried to sell.
