  1. Milner was very good tonight - as were Duff and Charlie. I know it was only Stoke we were playing, but you can only beat what's put infront of you. I thought it was a good response by the players, after last Saturday.

I reckon we are gonna be struggling for CM's, for the Bolton game. Emre, Butt and Smith all banned. Roz in there with Charlie, perhaps ?

As long as we don't pretend decent performances against shite makes the likes of Carr etc good enough.......

Still can't stomach the idea of Roz inthe midfield, after he was found so badly wantng in defence.

  2. this whole success malarky.  I think a general point that can be made is that we've appointed a man whos success includes 2 2nd places in the Premier League.

When we could have approached a World Cup winner and a FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup, Supercup, Community Shield winner to name but 2 people (Lippi and Houllier) and also van Gaals long list of success, I can't help but feel a little let down.

    This.

Plus, those 2nd places were how long ago?

  3.

Smith, as well-- in his new role coming in off the bench.

Staying on the bench would be a good role for him atm

Staying at a different club would be better, were there any stupid enough.

  4.                 Given

    Carr Taylor Cacapa Enrique

      Milner Roz N'Zogbia Duff

                Viduka Owen

Seems the sane and realistic option.

a left winger and a tin man defender in the middle of midfield?

What are you on tonight? Having a pop at everyones posts. Take it youve taken badly to the KK appointment, or what?

What, you think its a GOOD idea to play shite?

Do we have any good players? Did we appoint the crappest manager? Do we play worse than anyone else?

Who's your team, or should we just not bother, and forfeit?

We have SOME good players. We appointed a decent manager, not the "crappest", but by no means the best. We play worse than most teams - or did under Allardyce.

My team would not include Rozenhal, unless there had been a terrible accident.

  5. Honestly, hand on heart, where do we all think we'll be at the end of next season, under KK?

    Next season or this?

Impossible to say. If we spend £100m next summer we'll get top 6.

Next season. Thats why i typed "next season".

If we spend £100m, and a few others spend nothing, you MAY be right. We're some way off those teams NOW, though, so we'll need a fair whack just to get us level with them.

Squad wise we are not that far off the likes of Man City, Villa and Everton but in terms of cohesion, communication and teamwork we are miles off. However KK will improve all that.

Our first team is well below them, never mind our squads. We haven't even got a good enough fist XI.

    Carte Blanche Northern Monkey.

Some players can find new life under new management. Give them all a chance.

Including Smith and Barton, as well as a defender who has managed to appear worse than Boumsong, Rosenhal?

You just have to see how they do.

I remember a time when Richard Dunne was crapness personified.

Carr, Barton, Smith, Rozenhal,......jesus, i can't face that again.

  6. Keegan hasnt failed anywhere bar England. Each club he's managed has been left significantly better off at his departure.

He couldn't take them on past "good", though, could he? He couldn;t take that sort of pressure.

But if you're already on the "KK is the best, perfect man, etc" wagon, you'll never accept anything else.

  7. Turnbull  - "Keegan has had his time and failed" - WTF!!!!!!????

Trying not to get too emotionally involved, if you assess the club at his time as appointment as manager, and the date when he left, I'm sure you will appreciate your own comment is a little bit ridiculous.

He failed at a number of jobs, based on effectively cracking and walking away. Its just the way things are.

Plenty of people would argue against that, and state other reasons for his departures.

If nowt else, least he has the decency to resign, rather than hanging on for a pay-off.

So now he's some kind of brave soldier for walking away, as opposed to a man who couldn't take the pressure and did one??

Once could be discussed. Twice would be very unfortunate.........more than that? You seriously think every departure can be dismissed on its own merits, ignoring the pattern?

Keegan did not fail here last time.

I'm sure the bright successful managers like Hughes and Moyes would love that level of failure

So define his success, here and elsewhere.

                                Rozehnal

                   Zoggy

    Milner                                           Duff

                                  Viduka

                   Owen

My opion is that Rozehnal will be a good player at centre mid. He's got athletism, the abilty to tackle and pass.

He showed a distinct and utter lack of the last two in his pathetic performances in the back four.

  9.                 Given

  10. Can see why people are suggesting Roz at DM as he's played there for his last club but he looks like he lacks a bit  of bottle/determination to even manage to be average here.

He lacks the ability to be even average at centre back, maybe they were just desperate to use him.

Lack of options for the next game i think. I'd be astounded if he's in anyones first 11. I'm sure someone will surprise me though.....

Oh, there'll be some idiot who reckons he's good enough because he plays for us.

Well, at least i'm not THAT idiot ;-)

So we have to forget the shit perfomances, and ignore the fact that some have proved they aren't good enough? I don't think so.

  12. Will Keegan be able to adapt to the new premiership which changed dramatically after the arrival of Mourhino? If Keegan gets us playing like he did in the 90s my bet is that he still wouldnt get u into the top5 or 6, becasue the defensive organisation of teams has changed so much.

I can see his brand of football making mince meat of lower teams out there, but will the tactically adept and organzied teams such as Chelsea Arsenal etc succumb to our football. My opinion is no.

The game is a lot less open and teams have a "containing" style which is a completely new style.

Will Keegan be able to adapt? I personally am not sure, but i have to admit that this is truly a golden time for nufc fans only. I say this cautiously becasue i was very optimistic with Allardyce.

To be fair to the owners they've probably made a smart choice becasue whilst not the most ambitious appointment, it truly is one of the most inspirational appointments.

Smart in the populist sense, but not in the sense of a long term plan for the club.

  13. "Oh, and Duff was never one of the best in the world, for christs sake"

Personal opinion, but I did just say wingers and I didn't mean ever just at that time.  He was good.  Smith, however, was always and I fear will always be a card collecting goal shy piece of w***.

I know what you meant about Duff, and thats still wrong for me, he was never that good, or he'd not have been sold.

You're right about Smith, although you missed "wrong-haired" off.  :)

Coolio, gods I love freedom of opinion.  Yet as I've read this forum for a total of 5 days and 13 hours I feel compelled to insult you as we have a difference of opinon, so here goes.  You ninny.

Ninny?????? YOU CHEEKY LITTLE PERSON!!!!! NEVER BEEN SO INSULTED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!

And you ca't do quoting. Doofus. ;)

  16. Anyone know how long his contract is for?

    Expires next week.

Seriously, does anyone know? Some fella on here who said he was ITK (i know, i know) said 3 years didn't he?

Ignore any ITK's on here. There are none.

Yep, could've been luck that he called it, maybe more than likely.

I'm asking because if KK is on a short term contract i can't have any serious reservations, if it's 3+ years then   i feel ambiguous about it.

I can't see him lasting 3 years, either way.

Everyone else seems to be answering regarding this season; that's the reason for my question.

We're miles off the top five, and £100m off the top 6. I agree with you that Citeh and Villa could easily spend big too though, so as I said, impossible to say.

I think they were talking about next season. No-one in their right might can genuinely think that we coudl be 7th this season.

  21. N'Zogbia has said he prefers playing in the centre of midfield, if you watch him he cuts inside a lot when on the wing I can see him really proving his worth as a centre midlfielder with Duff to his left and Enrique supporting from left back.

The Zog is our best LW,lets leave him there long term.

You're right but if you think about the balance of the team with the lack of creativity in the centre of midfield and in Duff a player who was one of the best wingers in the world this to me seems to be the best option.  If you don't do this you will have either sick one of those three on the bench or play them quite out of position.

For this one game, fair enough, but long term, The Zog on the left, for me, every time.

Oh, and Duff was never one of the best in the world, for christs sake. Thats as Wrong as the "Jose didn't want to sell him", and "SAF didn't want to sell Smith" rubbish. Its that "NIFC sign a player so he's the best" rubbish.
