  1. Anyone know how long his contract is for?

    Expires next week.

Seriously, does anyone know? Some fella on here who said he was ITK (i know, i know) said 3 years didn't he?

Ignore any ITK's on here. There are none.

  2.                 Given

    Carr Taylor Cacapa Enrique

      Milner Roz N'Zogbia Duff

                Viduka Owen

Seems the sane and realistic option.

a left winger and a tin man defender in the middle of midfield?

Would you rather have Carr in the midfield then? There's really are no realistic alternatives.

Might as well have Carr, yes, if you want Rozenhall.

  3. N'Zogbia has said he prefers playing in the centre of midfield, if you watch him he cuts inside a lot when on the wing I can see him really proving his worth as a centre midlfielder with Duff to his left and Enrique supporting from left back.

The Zog is our best LW,lets leave him there long term.

  4. Ok i've seen it again and i admit it is a red card

I still think it was unfair though because they should have had someone sent off before that imo.

So its unfair that Emre got sent off for a CLEAR red card offence?

I think what he's asking for is a bit of consistency from the ref.

Anyway, I'm wondering what our center midfield will look like come Saturday. So obviously Duff and Milner stay wide but who's going to partner Zoggy in the middle? I actually can't think of anyone now, might have to push Roz up or something.

Consistency would be good (albiet unlikely, Rennie is only beaten by Winter as the worst PL ref for years), but the fact remains that Emre got what he deserved. He was fucking stupid, and he shoudl have got sent off, regardless of anything else. He's pid to play football, not get sent off.

  5. Turnbull  - "Keegan has had his time and failed" - WTF!!!!!!????

Trying not to get too emotionally involved, if you assess the club at his time as appointment as manager, and the date when he left, I'm sure you will appreciate your own comment is a little bit ridiculous.

He failed at a number of jobs, based on effectively cracking and walking away. Its just the way things are.

  6. Two words came to  mind when I heard this: "Howard Kendall"

Never go back they say. And they're usually right.

    Graham Taylor.

More mongs emailing into Sky. We are going to win everything apparently

Some on here thought 4th (and above Arsenal) under Fat Sam. Fuck knows what they think know, they'll still be cracking one off over 1980's copies of 'Shoot!'.

  7. Can we all not stop playing Championship Manager and just enjoy the rollercoaster?

No, its called being a fan. You get to discuss things, have opinions, argue your case.

Better than "woo hoo, we're the best ever, top 4 soon, toon army!!!".....cos thats not real, is it.

whats your thoughts on where we will finish?

Probably about 9th/10th, so better than i thought we'd do under Fat Sam,but not some knd if Messianic rebirth.

  8. Anyone a bit worried that his heart might not be totally in it?

When I saw him on SSN in his tracksuit I wondered if he was bothered at all. Looked tired.

However, he must have done some pretty good convincing to Ashley and Mort to be given the job iyam.

Or it might have been Ashley and Mort who did the convincing. The main motivation behind this may be marketing tickets and shirts rather than growing a football club. But the idea may be for Keegan to be the figurehead/messiah and those under him to be the real force. My own opinion is that Keegan is a highly strung individual who can't handle intense pressure and in terms of football management he is mentally shot. With strong people under him we can wing it and it will be interesting to see who turn up as his assistants.

Deep down, we know this is an emotional/populist decision rather than a long term, thought-out one. But it's done now, and at least its not fucking Redknapp.

  9. What's Le Tissier's problem with Newcastle? Commented that Emre had to go, Eustace might have needed a talking to, Stoke had the majority of the game early and scored the best goal. Said it was a shame their goal wasn't a winner!!!!!!

    Wanka.

Idiot, did you actually listen to him?

Oh, and Emre DID have to go.

Some people give NUFc fans a bad name.

No he didn't have to go

Yes, he did. Stop with the NUFC thing, and judge it dispassionately.

No, he shouldn't have got sent off, get over it ffs

Yeah he should, but NO, you're right, he's an NUFC player, it can't have been deliberate!!!

    ffs.

  10. Given  7 - did ok but is very dodgy these days

Carr  7 - motored down the wing, good passing

Cacapa 7 - did well against a white meathead like, good headers but needs to stop diving in

Taylor 7 - same as cacapa except he doesnt dive in

Enrique 8 - looks so confident on the ball and is not afraid to take players on, good passing, stands up well

Duff 8 - good passing, running and a brilliant finish. still needs to pass earlier though

Zogger 8 - played some nice balls and some good runs, loves running with the ball

Milner 8 - some good crossing and some bad, nice finish

Emre 6 - was playing quite well until he got sent off, wasn't a sending off like

Owen 8 - made some good runs and scored a typical owen goal, brilliant awareness also

Viduka 7 - good control and brought players into play

You were clearly there. Have you seen the sending off since?

Doesn't help when some call people idiots either mind.

You're right, and i apologise, but when there's THAT much blinkered shite in someones statements, is hard to be rational.

We should be pointing the finger at Rennie. If he had punished the Stoke kid, Emre wouldnt have felt like he had to do it himself.

Not a great reaction by Emre hbut we all know what its like when we feel justice hasnt been served

If the shoe was on the other foot, we'd be livid if Emre wasn't sent off. Its not his job to take the law into his own hands, he was wrong, stupid, and should have been dismissed.

Yes, Rennie is a wanker, but its not Emre's job to do what he did.

Yeah, you're one of them. Tosser tbh.

Why, cos i'm not a sycophantic, blinkered Soopafan? Thank fuck for that, otherwise i'd be like you.

  16. If i'm honest, I'm somewhere between satisfied and gutted. With a touch of overjoyed....

I'm excited, but I have a genuine feeling of dread. I wanted to so much out of Fat Mikey's first appointment, and instead we got a backward step/emotional appointment. Letsnot pretend the REAL big clubs have been knocking his door down, and lets not pretend he is a brilliant manager overall.

I fully expect to be swept up on the wave of passion, and in my heart i can't wait to sing his name, but I also expect that we will be sitting here pretending that we're a big club in 3 years time when we are still mid table, and pretending that this time next year, we'll be millionaires - i mean challenging for the top 4.

    Ooh, it's so confusing. :(

Its definately a gamble, but if weve got 60million to spend, Keegan only has to spend it half as well as hes done in the past, play a basic formation with the players looking to win (which hes always done), and we could easily shoot back up to challenging for a top 6 spot.

The previous managers have made an utter mess of things by being cowardly in the transfer market, freezing or falling out with important players, playing players out of position, or using shit tactics that made the players look clueless. A simple job has now been compeltely exaggerated into an "impossible" job because of the incompetence of the last 3 managers - its really shouldnt have been as hard as it was, but these managers choose a path and stuck by it refusing to acknowledge their faults or changing things back to the basics, even though everyone else could see just how bad things were.

No matter what Keegan's weaknesses are, hes not going to do any of those. He gets on with players, his teams play a formation that everyone knows, he sets his teams out to win, and he isnt afriad to bring in unproven but talented flair/attacking players if he can. Thats all we need right now to jump back up to being top 6, and its something that Keegan practically guarantees, more so than Houllier, Shearer, Deschamps, Ranieri, etc.

Not sure about your last point, you're dismissing some good coaches there, ones who've achieved more than KK.

But a lot of what you say is right. Problem is twofold for me: 1) is he up to it, football HAS changed, no matter what people say when they try to pretend we're still where we were, and he had to walk last time.....and 2) a lot of other teams in the EPL have good managers and investment, and we have a lot of deadweight (again), despite tonights result.

  17. thats what makes me laugh, all these "football has moved on" rants

    - has it?

Don't you still need to kick that bag on wind into the back of the net more times than your opponent to win?

The game is the same. The way its played/managed/financed/etc has changed in ten years, of course.

That's pretty much exactly how I feel. Was shocked and disappointed at first, but that feeling has faded somewhat. Still worried though.

And no, I don't do tongues.

Forme, its important that we don't get carried away and start predicting top 4 next week, etc. We're better than that, we're NUFC fans. Lets bring realism back, and support our club, but not blindly - going on lke everything is perfect etc doesn't make us better fans.

PS - you will, they always do in the end......
