    Shola Ameobi

Aye, that about sums it up. He did his job.
  2. I said Woodgate was very good for us. Where's the bias in that? As Sewelly mentioned, you do have this habit of trying to rewrite history with your opinions. The "mistakes" thing is a pile of s****, for instance, as Tooj has pointed out. Agree that Colo is better than Woodgate though. He's as good a defender but his robustness hands him the edge easily. Eh? You don't think Woodgate made mistakes? Well I'm fairly sure he did make a mistake or two, like any defender or any footballer, but certainly not to the point where you could use it as a criticism of him (like people do with Titus).
  3. Dunno if it's just me, but this thread is reminding me of when all the blokes are pissed and knackered at the end of a wedding reception and are just sat hoying opinions at each other around a table while the women folk are off dancing.
  4. I've been Southampton, but I've never been to Nunthorpe.

  6. I loved his diagonal passing and his general two-footedness. Him and Woodgate were a very good partnership. I loved his overall clumsiness and catastrophic lapses in concentration. This makes no sense. How do you mean? You loved him costing us goals? I love that about him now he's at Sunderland, but I didn't back then.
  7. Ronaldo letting usual bias cloud his Woodgate judgement as well. In fairness he was bang-on all the way through with Colo, but I'm not having anything other than Woody was class barring his fitness. Seeing his name on the teamsheet when we had him here had a very soothing effect. Outstanding player who had a bit of everything during his time here.

  10. I get the feeling he is already here You may be right.
  11. Aye but he wears an XL, boys XL.
  12. Ah Jose. Still love the goofy bastard.
  13. This. Love days when you can't wait to see Gary's beautiful ears. Shame Big Al's not on tonight, would cap it right off for me.
  14. Shola was a bit rubbish like. I thought it was a typical Ameobi performance, if not slightly better than normal given a bit more effort on his part. Didn't have much support, won plenty in the air, defended strongly from set-pieces, basically did his job. Still had Shola moments but a lot of his play was good, as it was last weekend. Obertan was comfortably worse. Clumsy in possession himself, poor decision making, quite lazy in the defensive aspect (although did well on a couple of defensive set-pieces as well) and just not any kind of threat to Richardson, who is piss-poor and was ripe for the taking. He was massively disappointing. Could just all be about expectations though, because I had high hopes for Obertan after last week. Whereas with Shola I'm pleasantly surprised when he moves around a bit and has a good first touch now and then.
  15. By the same token, how on Earth could anyone give Shola a lower rating than Obertan? (More than one person in fact.) People see it differently, people know fuck all, etc.

Only a real spanner could get banned on a day like today. Well played mojo, as per
  18. Looked a good partnership 2 years ago. Sad for Williamson, but would love it if Taylor could finally become the player he's been hyped as throughout his career. Needs to stay fit and play the full season.
  19. He is class like, proper underrated in terms of his contribution.
  20. Pennywell Paul Fucking hell... It is, as well. Think he's reverse-trolled himself with that one like. He was better when he was predicting doom and gloom.
