Is that spelt wrong on purpose btw? Who knows? I don't even know who did it I did check it with him first, although he may have just been polite with me and not pointed it out. Disco is far too on the ball.

Aye, I remember that one, really funny IIRC. Who the fudge is gdm?

...it's just that Mimi bint, isn't it?

This whole thing is very enjoyable.

Btw, despite his typically embittered (understandable) response, there's got to be a case for reverting Messi back to his original name if Nolan does officially leave tomorrow? Ending the spell, as it were.

I think I'd have to put a 30 game minimum on it or something, just to give myself a gentleman's chance... and then just hope that they didn't come up straight away to make sure. If he'd played the full 38 games for us last season, Messi could have been in real danger of (wimping out of) eating his own shite if he'd taken my double-or-nothing offer from before Nolan had even hit eight. I dunno if TT was on the wind-up or being genuine with the comment I quoted, just seemed he was setting someone up for the old Pissi-take.

Yeah I've looked at KUMB & they think it's a fantastic signing from them, which I agree with tbh This season it is just about the best signing they'll make considering his ability to score goals in that division, plus FSA long ball bypass midfield tactics. Next season back in the prem however... Aye. I'll drink my own piss if they get back up and then Nolan scores 8 goals for them. Yeah, cause that's still funny.. Weyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

I'm getting hen pecked these days, wife and daughter means I end up watching fucking One Tree Hill instead of footy. I can't say anything, I used to watch One Tree Hill out of choice...

TRon, I'm sure you used to know your shit. What the fuck happened?

You had me intrigued: it's 38 games in the PL for Guthrie with us. 32 starts. Barton's played 64 games with 58 starts at the same level. 2 goals from open play? 3? Can't remember what his first goal was for us, but he's definitely only got 2 since - Villa/Liverpool at home this season. So aye, the original post had little real relevance to anything in terms of judging his quality as a footballer - given most people (including yourself I'll assume) think Barton is pretty decent at this level and given they're pretty similar players. You don't rate Guthrie though, fair enough, I can accept that. Could just maybe seek to improve the way you evaluate things in future
-
He's scored once from open play (the other was a penalty) in about 50 PL games. What's that in relation to there, Wrongaldo? If it's the "decent goals" bit, do ones he scored in the level below not count? Joey Barton's scored how many from open play for us in the PL? (Using him here as he's generally accepted as a "good" player and he's fairly similar to Guthrie.) I can toss barely-related statistical nonsense around too.

Deja vu. I probably supported it when KK was trying to do the same thing, like. Has anyone genuinely convinced themselves that we're going to get a better left-back than Enrique if he does leave? Not really looking forward to hearing/reading "ah, he'd never have done that to Jose/he'd never have got past Jose there/Jose always used to shield the ball there and keep possession" next season much. Over and over and over.

Eh? He can take a set-piece, thread a pass and has scored some pretty decent goals for us. Fucking hell I'm sounding like his agent here. I accept he's average at best in terms of PL standards, but I think "bland" is pretty harsh. He's a good footballer.
-
The standard is undoubtedly poor down there, but like midds says it does look like it could be very tight again next season.

I think certain people need to start facing up to the fact that what's going on at the top is very calculated these days, for the most part. It's nowhere near the impulsive nonsense we've seen from Ashley and company in the past. Seems to me like they're finally getting a firm hand on the business/media side of running NUFC and are committed (overly?) to doing things their way, while allowing people who "know football" to guide them on the other side of things (within their framework, of course).

I wasn't much on the pulse back towards the beginning of the season/middle of the season, but weren't there some stories doing the rounds about his conduct/behaviour off the field? Just generally not doing a very good job of looking after himself up here? He does cover a lot of ground, mind, despite not looking the fittest, but he does give the impression that he could be trimmer/fitter. Might just have been me but I thought he looked sharper/more slender towards the end of last season, which had me hoping that Pardew/the staff had got him to get a handle on things and begin to sort himself out.
