  1. Translated to english...?
  2. It's funny though.. We played 4-4-2 today. And even though most on here will question why Emre didn't start etc, Allardyce can never come out good. It's just impossible to please certain people. Honestly, todays loss lies solely at the feet of the players who didn't perform. And that would be the whole team, bar one or two. They all really looked like they were on 11 different planets, completely unable to string two passes together, let alone create something on their own.

    Hitzfeld

The letters are too small, I can't read it James.
  4. He played today under the alias of Richard Dunne. Dunne was immense today. Singlehandedly kept Liverpool at bay, almost.
  5. Nice post but that in particular is spot on. Probably not coincidental with the fact that it was hosted in the US..
  6. Not on UK TV, according to .com. Sport TV2, Supersport 4, Supersport 3SA showing it, not sure which countries. Scandinavian Canal+ Sport has it as well. Apparently Elano is on somewhat of a bad patch, here's to hoping he won't pick it up again against us. Just subbed out in City's game vs Liverpool, haven't done alot, but to be fair City have been defending for most of the game, 10 men behind the ball most of the time.

    If not Sam, who then?

I don't consider Ferguson inferior to any manager, really. But he's undeniably of a different type than both Wenger and Mourinho. And one of the reasons why he does so well with what I'd consider the old school of management, is because he's been around for so long, and he's had continuity at Manchester United. Sir Bobby Robson is another manager I'd categorize as an old school manager, but I'm thinking he's evolved quite alot since he first got into management, not to mention that he went the continental way by going to Spain and Holland - something current english managers really should be looking to do. I'd keep an eye on Coleman for the future.. But, back to the point, you're obviously in more familiar territory than me here, so I'm gonna hold my hands up this time It really is sad, though. I'd really love to see managers and players (especially) from that era have a crack in modern day football. In that respect I wish I'd been born some decades earlier, just to have been able to see them for myself.

    If not Sam, who then?

I'm obviously not questioning the man-management abilities of those mentioned, not at all. In that respect, I doubt there's few in the modern game who come even close. But the game itself has evolved, and more so the last 10 years than before, is what I think anyway. You can get quite far by playing it simple, but tactics play such a huge part in it, and the tactics being used by the managers previously mentioned would've been torn apart by the likes of Wenger and Mourinho. There's always a counter to any given tactical factor, and the very best managers of today all have something in common; they exploit the weaknesses and counter the other teams tactics. Which is why they are so successful. Anyway, it's a sidetrack really. I'm obviously at the deep end here, seeing as I've never actually had an opportunity to see the teams of Clough, Shankly et al. And I'm not saying they were no good. There's just alot more to it now than motivation and brow-beating players. And I still maintain it's too hard to compare, even for managers. Not to mention fruitless, seeing as we'll never have an answer to it anyway.
  9. He really does work his socks off for the team. 10/10 on his workrate.
  10. Understatement of the year. Martins is a mood-player, and will never produce when he has an off-day.
  11. There are simple reasons why we tend to play well against these types of sides...They come onto us and we get some space behind them to play in. If we have to break a deadlock we have problems as we have little pace and creativity. This. We desperately lack pace going forward, no doubt about it.
  12. I wouldn't say Roz on for Smith was a particularly defensive substitution. Roz went in at left back, freeing Zog up to go forward, which was our main threat in this game.
  13. Not that they wouldn't beat us with their U18's, but yeah...
  14. You're welcome! To stay on topic: predicting 1-1. And that's me being positive...
  15. Nope. Just lists tv-channels. Real ones, not streaming ones.

    If not Sam, who then?

I'm afraid so. I'm firmly of the belief that managers like him, Shankly or Busby would never be a success in our time. I'll even stretch it so far as to say that players of that era wouldn't be a success in our time either. Sadly, this is something we'll never find an answer to. Which brings me to my point; comparing it is pointless.

    If not Sam, who then?

Surely you're not naive enough to believe that football hasn't changed one bit since 1993?

    If not Sam, who then?

Irrespective of what you think would happen if either of those two were to be appointed, it's a near certainty that they would indeed face the same reactions Sam is facing now if they were to produce the same results that he has. Whether or not they would, or whether they would do better than him, is irrelevant really. The truth is that any manager who can't deliver good results and entertaining football in 100% of the matches instantly, will face the wrath of the fans, and probably the sack because of it. That's how fickle our fans are. That's what's laughable, really..
  20. He doesn't seem to have a problem with it...? http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2007/12/27/geremi-s-still-man-for-the-job-72703-20289527/
  21. You're making it sound like we've had no good games at all this season, which is simply not true.
  22. Both of whom have recently appointed new managers, which usually brings a bit of newfound vigour to a struggling team, perhaps? I still firmly believe there is no such thing as an easy match in the Premier League.
