Okay ... but how is going on about in on a football forum helping.

To raise awareness? To find like-minded people who are concerned? To discuss it in a group to see how others are dealing with it? To test whether your opinions and feelings are shared in common? To seek comfort in knowing that others also find it hard?

You lot and the fucking Tories man

Always whining and bitching about them all the time. Utterly pathetic!

Out of interest, and entirely unrelated of course, what was your view on Bolsonaro’s people storming government and court buildings?

Kaka would make a fantastic defence lawyer:

"For goodness sake! Yes the defendant might have murdered, but no one is perfect. You the Jury ALL have skeletons in your closet. Yet here we sit, trying to bring another good person down. Society has gone mad!"

Genuinely the normal defence that Tories run on a daily basis

Sitting here on 1/12 looking at the window - I'll say it's a real missed opportunity to not strengthen where Howe wants in the positions he wants.

The club continue to remind us about FFP issues, I won't argue against those because I haven't the time or energy or access to the data to work the math out, but I am certain we do eventually need to shift some of the deadweight off the books to free up wages, squad places, and increase income through player trading and commercial deals.

Really don't know whats going on with the commerical side - we saw a flurry of activity before the Saudi winter break and that was really encouraging but not heard too much about new commerical deals for the future otherwise. If the CEO and Commerical guy can't get those deals done quick enough or advance them to know that X is incoming over X years, let's go and spend that'll be a real disappointment.

Many many days left in the window, and I know the club plead poverty then signed Isak so as usual, judge them when it SLAMs shut.

Who do you think is offering to buy our deadwood and take on their wages, out of interest?

Not knowing the law is not an accepted excuse for breaking it. In the legal sense, I mean.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid footballers can sometimes be.

For sure, and he’ll be punished. But my point is before everyone starts saying what a terrible human being he is and how he should be put in a kennel wearing nothing but a torn kilt while everyone throws rocks at him, sometimes it’s useful to provide some context (or, in this case, hypothetical context).

He has made a mistake. It may be a slight mistake or a big mistake depending on circumstances that we don’t know. It’s just tiresome that we always have to have the conclusion and judgment like a downloadable iTunes song in 30 seconds.

I’ll support him because I don’t think he’s a bad person. Im biased because he’s a Newcastle player.

    Problem with the system is.

    The limit is 1 pint.

90% of drinkers will have 1 pint and be fine to drive. Breathalyser check may equate to being below the limit.

I am 10yr sober. So 1 pint of piss fosters and I would be swerving all over the road. Get the book chucked at me and get a 20 month ban and a fine. Kill someone and do a long stretch.

If you have even the slightest of doubts before getting in the car. Don’t drive.

Joe knew full well that he may possibly fail the test. Just like Joe blogs after a swift pint before driving home.

You take a gamble. Expect to accept the consequences.

You say that, but he might actually not know the law as someone who is not from here. I’ve no idea if it’s something the club educates the players in but it’s not like it’s plastered across adverts or anything. It’s very feasible that he thought he wasn’t over the limit (he may also have known he wasn’t, but we don’t know). I lived in Singapore for 3 years (approx same time as he’s been in England) and I couldn’t tell you what their drink drive limit is (assume it’s 0 knowing their deterrent system).

I’m slightly surprised at the strength of outrage tbh, because I think a hell of a lot of people have driven close to or even slightly above the legal limit, some regularly. Loads of people think it was only a couple of drinks, or it was x hours ago, and they feel fine.

Just par for the course in social media reality. Everything can only be incredible or appalling. Nuance is poison because it requires active and conscious thinking.

  8. The life-risking stuff is a bit OTT until we know that he was genuinely impaired. There can be a difference between what your body is perfectly able to do with a certain amount in your system vs the point at which the law (necessarily) draws a mathematical line.

The stupidity is, absent further information, needlessly attracting negative headlines. It’s not beyond the realm of reason that he thought, for example, 3 beers is fine to drive on. None of us know what he knows or what his physical reactions to different quantities of alcohol are.

I expect he’ll miss a match and get fined if Howe is of the view that he knew, or should have known, better and that will be case closed in public.

As a bit of a comparison, Acuna was given a 2 year ban and a fine but that was 20 years ago. No idea how that compares to today. Acuna was twice the limit too. And dressed as Captain Hook.

    imagine that’s where he’ll land

What's the most probable outcome from this? Driving ban?

Depends on how over limit. Best he can hope for for a little bit over is fine and ban, yeh.

  11. Be a good watch, they’re a good team and in form. Last time against them we benefited from an (entirely correct) red card and no Palhinha or Mitrovic, so should be competitive. Agree with the post above that they’re more likely to come at us. We’ve got to be more clinical than we have of late. Hopefully no wood or Murphy polluting the occasion.

  12. I think they're supposed to have quite a significant injury list. A cursory scan says: Justin, Evans, Ricardo, Maddison, Praet, Dewsbury-Hall, Soumare and Bertrand. That's quite a big list but they have a deep squad. I think they have some players badly out of form as well - I read an article on F365 about Ndidi looking lost, and (I really don't mean to jinx) I think Vardy is slowing down.
