Looking at an odds checker, it's looking that things are slightly in Brentford's favour at present -

    Newcastle                    Draw                Brentford

    33/20 1.65                12/5  2.40            7/4    1.75

    13/8    1.63               47/20 2.35           17/10  1.70

    8/5      1.60               23/10 2.30           13/8    1.63

But this is only an indication of where the money is being placed - still going to be a home win - COME ON !!!!

On Smarkets (Exchange) nufc are slight favourites

Aye, the aimless hoof down the line, which is Dummett's signature dish isn't to Howe's taste I doubt

It's not aimless and often has good shape. The problem is that this is his only attribute when we have the ball.

  3. I think PIF will want one statement signing of the ilk of Coutinho but in terms of business progression we need to be targeting the stars of tomorrow once we are sure we have enough to avoid relegation.

There is going to be another party outside SJP when that shit is pulled down and burnt on the town moor.

In the eco spirit of re-cycling the signs should be remodeled as urinals so that fans can piss on SD whenever they want.

I feel better after reading that. If he really is as familiar with our squad as that suggests.

At least he appears to know what he's walking into

Oh definitely. The problem was it wasn’t really ethical? In the sense they were just hoovering players up that could have come through somewhere else. Be interesting to see his level of patience with head coaches, without Roman pulling the trigger every two seconds. Also wonder how Brexit would affect this sort of strategy.

Not ethical you say. Requires a shed load of investment but will bring success in the long term. Sounds just like the new NUFC. Sign him on.

  7. I'm guessing this is announced today so he can get going with the players. The formal press conference will follow later in the week when AS is in Newcastle with the new DoF!

" You really were fucking useless werent you"

    sigh "Yeah"

Look at the eye contact from Howe and lack of it from Bruce. They both know who is the main man here.

“The trials will take place at the home stadiums of Championship club Cardiff City, as well as four Premier League outfits – Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Which means that some Newcastle United fans can look forward to be safe standing at Chelsea (currently Saturday 12 March), Tottenham (currently Saturday 2 April) and Man City (currently Saturday 7 May). United having already played away at Man Utd this season.“

I thought the trials were for a limited area of home fans

When a match programme cost 15p........My first match (aged 7) against Bristol City 1977.......still waiting for the best years to come :indi:

My first league match. Went to the Texaco Cup etc 1972-7 as my Dad wouldn't take me to big crowds

So in theory Howe only needs to move us one place higher to be successful come season end.

Even Steve Bruce wouldn't claim 19th as successful

  12. He's going to bring some energy and organisation back to the club. I think he could keep the present squad up but expect us to make key additions in January. Whether he can have us challenging near the top anytime soon is a great unknown but I'm happy to watch him try.

Leicester have some sort of magic production line of midfielders like, they obviously recognise the importance of that position.

    Fofana, Daka et Al

    Not just midfield

  14. I am warming to Howe and trust in a DoF set-up he wouldn't get the chance to make the same transfer calls.

But, I do worry he is used to working with players of lesser ability and might make do with players that need to be shipped on like Ritchie, Shelves, Clark, Gayle, Darlow et Al

We have to avoid relegation but also look like a club going places in order to recruit.

If they were impressed by Howe and had narrowed it down to those 2, then don't open it back up. There's no need to go and do more interviews. And just be honest with him. "Yes we originally went with someone else but then it fell through - that happens in life. That doesn't mean we didn't like you."

If Howe is coming you'd have thought there would be movement tomorrow.
