If they were impressed by Howe and had narrowed it down to those 2, then don't open it back up. There's no need to go and do more interviews. And just be honest with him. "Yes we originally went with someone else but then it fell through - that happens in life. That doesn't mean we didn't like you."
If Howe is coming you'd have thought there would be movement tomorrow.

Said this since day one , he’s the best realistic candidate we could get , he would be mad to turn us down to stay at Brighton aswel.
...and he could start his nufc career from the opponent's bench on Saturday. Easy 3 points.

Can't remember exactly but Bournemouth played us off the park up here - great goal from a corner I think
One of SB's better games was the 4-1 away win at Bournemouth. Fancy getting a tactical masterclass from the Bacon Monster.

Of course, he’s not a massive cunt and is several tiers above what we’ve just had but we will be looking to replace him first opportunity, think someone more established grows with us.If he comes I hope it is a deal to the end of the season then a review

NDM said there were two loaves but that he wouldn't eat them together. DoF to follow.

Telling that Ornstein broke it instead of Caulkin at the Athletic.
He is the one that jumped the gun, as he hadn't had the official briefing to sit on it a little longer
The NE press pack had to go with it after that as the cat was out of the bag!
Good point. Ornstein hugely linked to all things Arsenal and would have contacts to Emery.

Imagine Steve Bruce winning four Europa Leagues
Hard to imagine he's managed four European matches

I'm sure he's learnt as well from mistakes he did at arsenal. Wasn't a good time to join them as they were in transition as well both off and on the field.
Hopefully we are in transition too!

Yup, they obviously have offered him big money to spend and build the squad. What is this sorcery!?
But the consortium have also gone with a manager who can work with players of lesser ability if needed

HBA hated anyone that made him graft and not get away with doing what he wanted, really silly using that as a yard stick
It will be interesting to see how ASM gets on with structure and a 4231 formation

Wonder if we have progressed the DoF prior to this or whether the manager position was too urgent to be left.

What an unbelievably good appointment Emery would be.
Good experience of working with stars and journeyman to excellent effect. Shown he can build a team stronger than the sum of its parts. Welcome, you have work to do.

The Athletic reporting they've narrowed it down to Emery and Howe.
Furthermore, saying Emery is the preference if they can agree terms.

Have we got a new manager yet ffs
Ajax don't play until Wednesday so it must be after that.

Spurs have clearly been plotting in the background plus had probably done most of their homework during the summer recruitment process. Obviously going to make a quicker selection than us.
I agree but to hold Spurs up as well run ignores the fact that they are able to move quickly only because they made such a mess in the summer. A mess in their new manager hunt and a mess of the Kane situation. We need to be aiming to be better than Spurs.

It's not about the loss of money for them - it's the loss of reputation, "face" and that everyone would be laughing at them. They won't allow relegation for that reason, if you ask me.
I dont think PIF will allow second best at all. I'm sure they will increase the January transfer budget and salaries until they get the management team they want.

We have more talent on the bench than on the pitch today

I personally think that Batty coming in for Clark was a massive factor too........Batty was good at what he did, but the dynamics of the team changed with his arrival.
Batty and Watson were the best players in the run in despite not starting earlier. You can say team dynamics were changed but the pressure got to players in the second half of the season. Don't need to name names as there were too many. Despite this not enough credit is given to Man Yoo who finished super strong, including be a certain SB.

He must have told Bruce to train 5 days per week when he was still here, its almost as if Bruce wanted to be sacked
I can think of eight million reasons why you may be right

Remember the time Blackburn were about to sack Souness and we jumped in and paid a fee for him ?
We in for OGS then?

Local Saudi team buy Messi then loan him to nufc for peanuts etc etc Once you own ten clubs (like Citeh do) and have corporate influence all over the globe there is no stopping you.

I am warming to Howe and trust in a DoF set-up he wouldn't get the chance to make the same transfer calls.
But, I do worry he is used to working with players of lesser ability and might make do with players that need to be shipped on like Ritchie, Shelves, Clark, Gayle, Darlow et Al
We have to avoid relegation but also look like a club going places in order to recruit.
