This is the Best thread, I've ever been in, dududu dududu
gazza ladra replied to Skirge's topic in Football
Where do our other players rank? Enrique? Did a Google search and couldn't find the current list online. IIRC Smit is either 1 place below or above Best. Harper like most of his career is 12th. Nolan is 1. Thats it I think Typical Newcastle. We've got a top 50-striker sitting on the bench, so we can play that donkey Andy Carroll. Hughton out! -
Two more wins.

Harper will be busier obviously, personally I reckon he'll be replaced before half way through the season. Hopefully. If he is being replaced it means he isn't doing a good job, I hope he isn't replaced because he is doing well. Got to think long term though. If Harper is replaced by neither Forster or Krul as our long term number 1 we will have failed massively. Well.... cheeky bid for Fabianski?

Blackpool (H)

I think he came in, played a couple of games, and got injured.

Ok, we all agree it was a shit squad; now where is the love (or at least the sympathy) for Glenn Roeder? yeah, whoosh. Well, half a whoosh.

Happy about Blackpool. Would love it if they get sixth place---or better won promotion. They've got a better goal differential than Leicester or Swansea.

Slow week.

Kevin "CCC Lampard" Nolan: 'Toon are out to silence the critics'
gazza ladra replied to Thespence's topic in Football
Have you seen any of the away lineups this season? A few. Unfortunately, it's not all that easy to follow the club in the CCC. Have we been playing 451 exclusively away from home? According to football-lineups, we've been playing 442 almost exclusively since December home and away. And it's only recently that we've had success away from home. My impression (perhaps out of ignorance) was that the arrival of Routledge and the emergence of Carroll allowed us to move Guthrie to the center and play 442 with Love and AC up top and Jonas, Nolan, Guthrie, and Routledge across the middle. -
How realistic do you (pl.) suppose Senderos or Metzelder are? The price is right, but are the wages? Would they come to Newcastle?

"REALISTIC TRANSFER TARGETS" was the response, I think.

So is it that then? Goodbye to the 442 we've played this season and onward in the next with a 451 formation? -
Knocking Kadar over the comments is absurd. He is just young enough and naive enough not to know that he's always supposed to talk about the team and not himself. Nolan is quoted as saying that he is only concerned about the title and doesn't care about being top-goalscorerer. Which is BS. He wants both, but he's savvy enough to talk about the team and not himself. Also, Baba is 100% correct. In a title chase, relegation, or promotion battle, you don't want to risk starting unproven or inexperienced players. Hughton made the right decision to bring in what CCC calibre defenders he could during the window. Those knocking Pancrate are forgetting that he was a free transfer that came in before the transfer window opened. He played rarely. However, I do recall a lot of people praising one late season performance when Hughton brought him on as a replacement at right back. I didn't see the game, but many were puzzled by the move and then praised the performance and Hughton for making the call.

TBH, I didn't know. I feared the worst. Things had gone so bad for so long I started to believe that the club was fated to pull a Leeds. I read doomsday scenarios from columnists/forum posts and couldn't really argue with them. I was genuinely surprised by the draw against WBA.

And if Man Utd don't win the title, they'll surely do the same. Maybe we can't buy anything from the big four, but their sales might have a trickle down effect. Say a club buys Carrick and need to deal their midfielder.

I'm American, but I put NUFC ahead of the national team. No question about it.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Good to know. Next time I'm in the North East and I need five ten pounds of peanut butter, I'll know where to shop. -
This. But, as others have pointed out, a win at home virtually assures the trophy. The question is misleading. Anyway, assuming that the club were to go undefeated at home and lose out on the title, it would create a great trivia question and grist for football columnists -- typical Newcastle etc.
