You make it sound like we know what we are doing If these deals are anything to go by, you know exactly what you're doing. You run the risk of upsetting some posters Neil. Ashley and Co are c***s and there's no way past that, all these class signings must be some kind of accident or - ah got it.. they'll sell for more. I think you'll struggle to find anyone who is unhappy with the signings we've made. It's the gaping holes in the squad and lack of willing to push the club as far as possible that pisses people off. If we get a striker (and I think we will), not sure where the gaping hole is. i'll start you off, centre half Hardly gaping tbf. You don't think 2 fit CBs is gaping?! It probably boils down to semantics and how the word 'gaping' is perceived. For me gaping means that there is no player for that position (who can naturally play there). I agree that we had a gaping hole for our LB position but not anymore. We don't have effective 4th choice cover for CB (3rd choice if Williamson is out long term), that's hardly a gaping hole.

We've got a steady partnership with Colo and Taylor who as a pairing is probably in the top 8 in the league. We are streets ahead of Arsenal in that department. Next

If we get a striker (and I think we will), not sure where the gaping hole is. As for "lack of willing to push the club as far as possible", that's relative isn't it and all fans can claim that. As fans, there's always going to be a player out there who we think can improve the team/squad. If you ask the Man City fans, I bet they'll tell you they want better defenders, Man Utd fans probably want more experience center midfielders to replace Scholes, Arsenal are screaming for defenders, goalkeeper and another striker to support RVP...ditto with other clubs. At some point, the board has to make the call on how much the club can afford and improve within those constraints.

So I guess this is the end of our interest in Cissokho and Pieters then?
-
we will most definitely
-
If true, then this is getting frustrating. Does he have a problem with recovery such that he takes longer than other players?
-
why is Carroll on the bench? Not fit?
-
Didn't take long for the positivity thread to turn negative!
-
I'm confident that we will get a new striker, it's the quality that I'm worried about
-
So I guess this is pretty much dead in the water then??
-
I wonder how people would react over here if Ashley did sell him to PSG next week to make some quick profit?

No need for this s*** here. What you on about, it was great. I agree with Dresden, that was a bad tackle. We would be up in arms if that happened to one of our players. A bad tackle is a bad tackle regardless of the perpetrator. Having said that, I think we're onto a winner here. ... Tell me, had Cattermole gone into Colocini the same way as Cabaye did (practically calf level), you would not be pissed mad? I would be fucking livid!
-
I like the fact that he is still saying that we need a LB and a striker but I'll believe it when the announcements are made

Don't worry, won't be long (probably the next few weeks) for the moaners to come out again and criticize him for not having an end product
-
I don't care about his dribbling or inconsistent end product, Jonas plays 110% with all his heart all the time and keeps on running right to the end. That itself is an asset in football.
-
Well done Pardew, reinforces my belief that he is the best that we can get at the moment. Those who want him to walk for whatever reason will be the same people who will moan like a bitch when the likes of Kinnear replaces him!
-
The amount of running he is doing is crazy, would love to see stats on that
-
but he does not have any end product says the
-
He should just shut the fuck up. If he liked and appreciated us so much, he would have at least stayed for another year. Instead he was happy to jump at the first opportunity to join another club and one that is still in the building process and by no means sure to be in the CL next year. I've got no problems with players joining another club for whatever reason but after they do that, they should stop pretending to be angels and like they still care for us. What a bloody hypocrite!
-
Because it's the in thing these days to be fucking negative and say that all our players are leaving.
-
I have never seen him play but I can't help feel a bit underwhelm if he is going to be our main striker. I was expecting a more established striker with a proven goal scoring record. I guess beggars can't be choosers and all that :-[
-
Fabregas gone? What? I thought we were the only club that were left powerless when a bigger club comes hunting for our best players? Scumbag Wenger...what a liar, promised fans that Fabregas will be staying and did the complete opposite!
-
What's wrong with the post? Because he put some thought and effort into it?
-
Alex Ferguson prefers an English core to his team and squad, something we seem to be trying to get rid of which I don't agree with Why? Isn't quality all that matters?
