Daft because you may not like how the stats look at the end of the season? :gm's dummy: As for your point, that is nothing more than just an assertion.

Ok I am gonna reset the poll and add Ba now. For record, at the point of reset, the voting was 82.4% (75 votes) for Best and 17.6% for Carroll (16 votes). Maybe the mods can change title of the thread
-
Should we now add Ba to the poll? Will be interesting come end of the season. I'll work out the numbers later
-
Good point Dave. The other thing is now the team is playing collectively with some intricate passing. It's quite different from the team that met Everton where HBA was the focal point and was driving us forward almost single handedly? He will have to gel with the team instead of being the superstar
-
You have to be heartless not to feel any emotion especially after the way he clapped the fans even when on the stretcher with a broken leg
-
But we got him on a free and we didn't splash 35M on him. He can't be any good!
-
most definitely, they look dangerous whenever he plays
-
what if he gets injured again through another nasty tackle?...I'm getting worried already and the game has not even started yet!

Do take half a minute of your life to read back some of the previous post (on this page) and you will understand. It is probably faster than it took you to post the message above.

Generally Pardew has usually persisted with failing players until results dictate changes have to be made. I imagine the same will happen here. Taylor will keep his place until he has a blindingly s**** game and Santon will get the nod. Then we'll see just what we have been missing if Pardew just had some vision. The trouble is Taylor already had that "blindingly s**** game" against QPR and if he Pardew can't see that, then he's not even of championship standard
-
If he really means that and this is not some sort of cunning way to motivate Santon or placate Taylor, then let me say it loud and clear that Pardew is a clueless cunt!
-
so we're now back with 4 weeks??

Not sure where to begin with your post 1) I gave reasons that may hinder Carroll's improvement, that's not to say that he won't improve for sure but the odds are not looking good for him (at the moment). 2) Never said Best is a complete striker, I said Best is the "more" complete striker (relative), not sure what's the diff between "more complete" and "better rounded" the way you put it. 3) As far comparing goals based on how regularly they play, that's exactly what goal/minutes ratio is, it takes into account the minutes that each player plays. 1) Fine, whatever. 2) "More complete" implies that he's good at everything, which he isn't "Better rounded" on the other hand means he's limited, but none of his flaws are immensely glaring ones. 3) You do understand that footballers aren't simple probability-based machines, don't you? By playing regularly, I mean letting a player have a long enough run in the team to get his rhythm going. "More complete" = good at everything? Excuse my language but I think you are just using language semantic bullshit. Nobody in their right mind would think that Best is good at everything and if I did, I would said that Best was Messi like or something . More complete to any layman simply means relatively he has more to his game. As for the rhythm bit, that's clearly subjective and in no way can be measured. No issue with you voting for Carroll (that's what the poll is for), but I am surprised that you started giving excuses already. Now he has to have some sort of rhythm before he can be evaluated. Maybe he should do some MJ moves to get some rhythm At the end of the day, strikers are evaluated by the goals they score...period.

If Carroll played for Stoke he'd probably score an obscene number of goals. Absolutely especially with Delap corner like throws. My view of Carroll has always been that he is (as of now) a very one dimensional striker but his heading is probably one of the best in the premiership. The goal against Villa aside, I would not be confident if he was through one on one against the keeper but float one in and he will get it 9/10. If he develop other aspects of his game than he will be world class but that requires discipline, the right attitude and games at the highest level, most which he either does nor have or is not getting. Best is no where as good as Carroll in heading but is the more complete striker and is almost sure to improve.

some comments on why you think it would be Best or Carroll would be good. Declare your allegiance now
-
I thought originally to ask who will score the most goals, but then realized that may not be fair coz Carroll is not even getting minutes at the moment. So goal/minutes is probably best. Go on your predictions then
-
So who is gonna score more goals or even have better goal/minute ratio? Best or Carroll?
-
Nah he's shit coz we didn't pay 20M to get him
-
we are actually playing good football
-
so is he having the surgery then? I thought he was definitely having surgery but now we are not sure? Any chance that this positive?
-
probably the latter, with some history of injury (duh like all football players), but won't stop the usual suspect coming out with completely baseless theories that we only signed him because he was cheap due to his injury. Never knew an injury prone player could play 20-30 games a season!
-
how many injury prone players have we signed?

Nothing so far, you must have missed his shot against Fulham and his his other attacking moves (forward runs) before this? Meireles (whose not an attacking midfielder) makes more of those in 1 match than Cabaye has in 4. I didn't mean it literally and he still has time to settle in. I just don't understand the love-in with him thus far. Maybe that's because a) Meireles has played in England for one season and b) plays for a team that does not just lump the ball forward at every opportunity?
