Some of the money not all I think https://shop.nufc.co.uk/cgi-bin/live/ecommerce.pl?site=theclubshop_nufc&state=item&dept_id=01&sub_dept_id=10&product_id=180849 Think 15% of the shop bought Robson shirts goes to the foundation. My mam was at the Bobby Robson Unit at the Freeman today and reckons that it is something else like. That's what I've read, so £7.50 to the foundation and the other £42.50 to the club.

Had a lovely day out there last season at their game vs Villa. Fans were quiet as f*** but the ones sitting round us were dead canny and it was a cracking game on a beautifully sunny day. Stewarding nice and laid-back too, let both sets of fans mingle at the beer tent. You couldn't find trouble at Craven Cottage if you went looking for it, lovely little ground. I worked at Craven Cottage for over a year and it was brilliant. Their fans are all friendly, great atmosphere (never any trouble even when Chelsea were visiting). Just a superb place overall. Been there last two seasons, great day out. Nice little part of London too, if a bit pricey.

Clearly missed my point tbh. You're saying that reactions have been too OTT. That comment is not being OTT. Only a very small element of what I'm saying which contributes to the main point I was trying to get across. To be fair I clarified that I'd found it very hard to word to exactly portray how I felt. I'm now incredibly confused after reading that I've drunk a decent chunk of delicious red wine this evening.

That's the only home I've been to so far this season and I thought it was better than the games I went to last year. We spent a lot of time getting beat last year. Probably why. Undoubtedly. But away teams selling out and "fashion fans" pissing off has definitely helped too. Actually I agree with you about the away fans, nearly started a thread about how much better they'll be over the course of the season a couple of weeks ago. No-one will bring as few as the like of Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn or Pompey this season and they'll all be up for it partly due to the relative novelty of us being in this league.

Interesting point. It has to have made some sort of impact in terms of the way supporters exchange views about the team - not least in terms of broadening the audience beyond just the local press etc. The internet has made everyone an expert on everything. As an aside Keef, as I'm sure you realise, I'm not just talking about complaining about shoddy performances. Coupling that with the point made by Consortium of One about it being like "having a bad case of depression and then going to hang out with a group of people that are just as depressed" gets you thinking really... ...places like this forum can all too easily become incubators of widespread discontent, nihilism and depression or they can become a place that fosters a bulldog spirit, a place where we cheer on not just the team but each other, building solidarity and a shared sense of determination. "I have a dream..." I was speaking to a mate in the pub the other day and he reckoned the internet was the worst thing that ever happened to football. He said you couldn't just enjoy it for what it was anymore and that you couldn't have an opinion on anything without being prepared to viciously fight your corner to defend it. Everything's analysed down to the most minute detail and it sucks all the fun out of it. Interesting point of view.

Only got to three homes last season...the draws against Stoke, Wigan and Everton. Not great. I don't know whether it was better or worse than my record of one win in ten games on the road.

Sounds a bit like a kneejerk to me.....

Fuck knows, they're all shit. Just change it until something starts working.

You dont think for one minute that Ashley is going to accept payments in installments based on a laughably unworkable boycott are you? What if he releases another crock of s**** letter saying he is listening to the fans? Pretend like people did then that they made a difference and come back to the ground? What can I say but "supporting the team through the dark times" unfortunately doesn't run Ashley out of town any quicker it appears to keep him here longer as he knows he's going to get £25m a year from the fans. Nothing done by the fans will run Ashley out of town. Why stop going to games if you don't want to?

But every MAJOR club in the last 30 years or so (not counting Notts Forest, because they achieved WAAAAYY beyond their set up, hardly making them a "big" club) tend to have the impression they "shouldn't be there" and generally they do jump back first time of asking. Man City was one of the few exceptions. They are a major club. I agree that wholesale changes would be ridiculous and counter productive. We need Shola back. Carrol and Harewood and Lovely pants are thud and blunder, more likely to hit the corner flag. Leeds didn't jump straight back, it took West Ham two seasons. The Sheffields' could be counted as big clubs too. I think assuming you shouldn't be there is a dangerous attitude to have and can lead to complacency, it also betrays an unhealth arrogance. BTW I fully agree we need Shola back, but how depressing is it that a player who has been so shit for so long is now our saviour?

Reckon Nolan's will go for the most with him scoring a hat-trick like. EDIT: Definitley will cos he is personally delivering it. Top gesture from him. Anyone else doing that?

You accept sh*t without complaint, then your diet will be sh*t - IF YOU'RE LUCKY No one said we "deserve success" - don't fall into that tripe the rival fans throw at us - we EXPECT people on hefty wages - PREMIER wages - to be able to deal well with so-called players who never got to (supposedly) their level. The toothless crap we got from the players in the last 4 games has been shameful. We have every right to be angry and complain. Its time Hughton started to talk a bit louder. Read the right act in fact to those not doing it, in fact. I have complained about it, I've said as much. We aren't good enough at the moment and it's frustrating. There's a difference between what I've been posting about and just accepting rubbish. What I've said is nothing to do with what the rival fans say, I've been disputing this with them for years on end, it's entirely based on my empirical evidence of this place and at games over the last month or so. I don't expect our players to become good just because they're overpaid either. I'd like them to, but I know they're shit having watched them many times, I don't expect the shitehawks to pull out performances they're not capable of given that 2 of our 3 most important players are out injured. My interpretation of the reactions to the last few weeks is that a lot of folk think we shouldn't be in this league. We should, we weren't good enough last year and we deserved to go down. This club has spent a lot of time in the second tier over its history and we just have to live with being there now. We have no right to be in the prem and people saying this is the death of the club as reaction to losing two championship teams in a row want their heads looking at. I think a major factor is that a lot of people are only really starting to come to terms with the fact we went down now. When we were winning every game it was just a bit of a laugh, now we aren't reality is starting to bite.

Our most realistic transfer target is not selling anyone. We certainly won't buy anyone.

Would you take the same attitude if we go down again, and again, and start losing to teams in dager of going out of the league ? P*ss-poor performances from players on premier league wages ? Look at Liverpool fans - everytime they lose a couple of games, the demands start, and the make clear they will not stand for this. Here ? Anyone saying the same is ranted at. Eat your gruel and don't complain Jesus..... Missed the point of what I was saying I think, I did say I wasn't sure how well I'd expressed it. I'm very annoyed we're losing but we don't have any divine right to do any better, and I've read a huge number of comments and opinions (not just on the site) that seemed to think we did. When have the demands of the Liverpool fans improved things for that club incidentally? As a set of fans we've made it pretty clear how upset we are with fat mike. Losing is part of sport though, it happens. Anyone who can't deal with it is pretty pathetic imo. We were lucky to enjoy the great run we had and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm desperate for us to get back up there but we don't 'deserve' it. We have no right to it.

Catching up with people and having a few pints is the only enjoyable part for me. I go to more aways for obvious reasons and always enjoy the part in the stadium, even if more for the atmosphere these days. Away days are a different ball game like. Haven't been to one this year due to finances which is a shame. Yeah, it is pricey but tbh when homes are probably costing the same as aways for me the choice is pretty easy to make at the moment, much as I love making it up to Newcastle. I play most Saturdays now so want to make the most of the 10-15 games I'll get to.
