  1. Noone suggested playing him up front though i suggested playing him behind a lone striker ala Bolton. His goals have only come when two strikers have been on the pitch this season I believe. I think he will be most effective behind a lone striker. If we sacrifice a striker for extra creativity i.e Jonas and Taylor with Guthrie in the middle i think we will benefit. He didn't look effective in that role in the slightest against Cardiff, Leicester or Plymouth until a second striker came on. Remind me of the system we played? Ummm...he played behind a lone striker?

  4. Harper would not get in the squad if we'd stopped up either.
  5. Played for england loads of times. But he is being unfairly overlooked now. FYP Good point, I'd have him in the England team for every game. Sure, there's a chance he'd pick up a career threatening injury and the FA would have to pay his wages for us, but that's the chance you take.

    Nobby Solano

Solano arrived a year afrer finishing 2nd and looked a good signing pretty quickly. He also cost only £2.4m Still an unknown foreigner Settled amazingly well tbh, cracking bit of business for the club.
  7. I'd definitely play Carroll and Harewood up front together for this one. Maybe what Towelie posted.

Sounds like it could have been that Rogerio Ceni to be fair. I've never heard of the cunt though.

Sure it wasn't a Paraguayan and was Chilavert? He scored a hattrick (all penalties) once.

Lonegan scored one for Preston a few years ago with a long kick.

Jorge Campos? Jose Luis Chilavert? Campos has bloody amazing record. He was originally a striker and is one of the few goalkeepers who has played outfield professionally on a regular basis. Stuart Pearce once brought on Nicky Weaver for an outfield player (maybe Reyna?) and stuck David James up front when City needed to score to make Europe. Must have done Jon Macken's confidence a world of good, given that he stayed on the bench and was an actual striker Campos was a bit of a mentalist by all accounts. Nice kits though.

  13. Because Foster's better. Better shot stopper but more erratic, take the Tevez moment for example. Made a few more blunders this season but under more pressure. I'd be more comfortable with him in nets than Harper for England who isn't decisive enough to cope with international football. He's decent, but he'd be a disaster waiting to happen at that level.

I'll go several better. Northampton Town Aston Villa Charlton Athletic Liverpool York City Celtic Kilmarnock East Fife East Stirlingshire Dundee United Scottish ones don't count.
  15. I apologise in advance if I am wrong but was the £300k not the loyalty bonus he wanted from Citeh? If may be classed as that, but City correctly in my eyes refused to pay it because as they said he chose to leave because a club had bid £5.5 million which triggered the release clause in his contract they did not at the time want to sell him. In the end it didn't effect City, Barton got the cash & NUFC ended up paying £5.8 million for player with release clause of £5.5million. Ah right. I don't think any football, even the best in the world justifies anything like the wages they get. I think most of the best players do tbf, it is the average s*** like Barton that is overpaid. How is anyone worth £100k a week? Its just obscene. If I thought it was obscene I wouldn't watch it. Most people in the entertainment get paid millions like actors, musicians whats the big deal? Two posts in a row we've agreed with each other Agree with you both. Players get paid what they do simply due to the commercial value of football. If clubs are now raking in that much money from it then why don't they deserve a slice of it? As afterall they are the people that bring in the money. I understand the principle, but don't most clubs run up fucking massive losses every year now?

Absolutely class signing. Used to chip in with a good number of important goals too. Another one of these unknown foreign imports we don't give any time to here eh Ronaldo?
