  1. Cheers lads. Feel free to merge or whatever, don't know the best bet. I think I logged out in a huff when Rafa left and never got back in! I assume the prevailing opinion is people are somewhere between content and delighted. Mainly just interested to know how they balance that with what they know about the owners - obviously there will be a spectrum of views but do some people just not care about the ethics of the owners if the team is good? Or how do people who do care about that but don't want to give up the club balance those two conflicting points?
  2. Alright gang! Long time no see. By christ it was hard work getting logged back in after 3 years. Hope some of the old people I used to knock about with on here are still going strong - the likes of Wullie, Tooj, Interpol, McBeefaz, PM, Dave, Disco* and many more I won't try to recall now. Appreciate this has probably been done to death but I couldn't see anything like this to gauge sentiment after a few months. Feel free to bin this if it exists already. Intrigued as to where everyone has settled on the subject of club ownership. Hopefully the poll is pretty self explanatory but I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing with that either. My personal take is I no longer consider myself a Newcastle fan. An early caveat that I don't expect that to be common, nor do I think I'm any better than anyone for making that call. Well, unless you're singing their names, then I probably do think I'm better than you. I can't get past the mental gymnastics of any success for a club just being a success for an evil regime. I'm no expert on the politics of it, but I'll back Amnesty's take on it. As much as I hated Ashley at least any victory was in spite of him rather than a victory for him. It's an absolute gutter as well. I'm 36 now, grew up with the Entertainers and the club has been a huge part of my life. My cat's named after an ex-player FFS. As much as Ashley sucked the fun out of it, I still cared. It's probably easier for me to cut ties than most as I've never been a local, my last family link living in the city passed away a couple of years ago, I stopped bothering to go under Bruce and I've had a ST at my local non-league team for about 4 years now. But it's still a hell of a change. Genuinely intrigued as to where people have settled and how they've got there. Or call me a c*nt I guess, whatever floats your boat. *have deliberately left Pilko out of the list as I know it'll annoy him
  3. Appreciate I’m late to the party, but what a great post this is. Well in, Wull.
  4. Didn't the Arsenal fans give him dogs abuse throughout the game ? I know he has a twat to them and the fans were right to have a go at him and he had just as much right to rub their face in it after scoring. Casual racism throughout no?
  5. They're fecking impossible to control as well. He never passes it on the bloody ground. Takes all pace out of the game and relies on Walker doing something brilliant.
  6. Can't believe the praise for Rooney on tele. Thought he was rank. Cracking save from the keeper papered over fact that was a fucking sitter from about 15 yards an'all.
  7. Thought Giroud's goal was a foul to be honest, he elbowed the Goalie's arm out of the way which made it almost impossible to catch. Probably wrong as nobody else seemed to mention it but looked obvious from the slo-mo. Desperately wanted it disallowed so my Razvan Rat FGS bet could still come in mind.
  8. I had £2 on Nani to win the golden boot. I mean, I know, Nani, but Portugal's group is shit. It was 1000/1.

    Alan Shearer

Panicked earlier today and bought a euro 96 kit with Shearer on the back. Think it was the right move. This comes hot on the heels of wearing the 96/97 shearer kit around the house all day on Sunday, constantly smashing a penny blaster at the walls and shouting SHEARER every time I did it. Granted I was in a state then but not sure I'm all there at the moment tbh
  10. I'm pretty sure I remember you admitting you'd been proved wrong on him that season as well mind.
  11. Jonas coming on against Man Utd and scoring against West Ham last season are two of the highlights of the last decade with this club. What a guy.
  12. ouch Well in lads. Can't beat a c2006 forum in-joke.
  13. He's nee Collins John like

    Shola Ameobi

Fucking hell. Heskey was totally England's Shola too. This is mint. If they were to appoint KK I'd probably switch allegiance.
  15. Good fucking post. No it isn't ffs A clearly wrong decision has nothing to do with this. There would never be another red card again if the criteria was it being comparable to this challenge. FWIW my view is similar to what someone posted earlier about it being an "orange" card. It's clearly at least a yellow and worse than almost all yellow card challenges you'd see. It's not like it's an incomprehensible decision like the Afelley or Noble red cards. Also, everyone who says he was trying to control the ball, even if the Arsenal player wasn't there that's a bloody weird way to try and control the ball.
  16. A free kick would have been harsh for the Noble one. Coutinho's second was clearly a yellow for me and he was a daft cunt for the first one.
  17. When was the last time we scored 4 in a competitive game? And how many times have we conceded 4+ since then? Can think of 4 occasions last season at least, no idea when we last managed to do it mind.
  18. Would probably be our best winger if we'd signed him
  19. Almost certainly the right decision from a footballing perspective. Him coming on against Man U and scoring last weekend are two of the most enjoyable moments I've had following football in a long time though. All the best Jonas.
  20. Surprised someone who's picked up 10 games worth of suspensions for being a twat this season is so widely seen as likeable
  21. Struggling to think of a worse captain we've had. I know its not all about sound bites but I have never heard him speak. What is his role? Fuck off back to San Lorenzo Struggling? He was commentating today. Not a defence of Colo fwiw

    Jak Alnwick

It was unbelievable, up there with Krul / MYM at Spurs last year for not believing it didn't go in. Few poor punches and kicks again mind.
