The way I understand it is that the clause is triggered only if we don't qualify for Europe, and only if a club in the Champions League comes in for him.

All we need now is for somebody to search through icnewcastle and look for articles by Oliver where he has had a go at Allardyce and send them to him via the club. Some clubs can afford to buy a Drogba or a Ronaldo. We can not. We can manage a Shearer or an Owen about once a decade, it seems.

I'd like to think that Shepherd wouldn't have even considered Allardyce if he'd be against the 'new-fangled stuff'. Surely it's a given that he'd revamp these areas of the club and Shepherd is ok with this? Hopefully, yes. But nothing about Shepherd would surprise me.
