Radio 5 Live - NUFC Love In. This Wednesday at 8-30pm

Set up? Come on lads! It was about Newcastle's form, one of the biggest stories of the season so far. It's just a bad coincidence, as if a hour on Five Live would mean anything ffs I suppose Nixon was in on it too? -
Btw incase anyone missed it, the Telegraph has quotes from Llambias about this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/8880087/Newcastle-United-to-ditch-St-James-Park-name-as-club-prepares-to-sell-naming-rights-to-stadium.html
-
I think it'll still be Sports Direct. Think of the free advertising Ashley is getting. They are talking about a £15 million a year package, that's a package Ashley get's for nothing.
-
Tell you what, it would be interesting to see the shirt sales if Sports Direct was on it. I certainly wouldn't be buying one.
-
Honestly couldn't be bothered with what these knackers think of it.
-
Will it be Sports Direct? Would he go to the lose of that money? Probably.
-
Those Llambias quotes are just a copy of the ones 2 years ago, and yet here we still are. How long will he continue to feed the fans this fucking bullshit?
-
“Our aim for Newcastle United is to continue to deliver success for the fans and everyone associated with the club,” said Llambias in a statement circulated on Wednesday evening. “We must make this club financially self-sufficient in order to deliver that success. “To grow sustainably and allow us to invest in our future, we will need to rely increasingly heavily on commercial income. “These are very difficult economic times and the board have a responsibility to maximise all revenue streams for the benefit of the Club. Stadium rebranding offers a lucrative way for clubs to secure significant additional income. “When we initially launched our plans at the end of 2009, we invited sponsors to attach their brand to that of St. James’ Park. “However it has become clear that in order to make the proposition as commercially attractive as possible, a potential sponsor must be given the opportunity to fully rebrand the stadium. “Naming the stadium the Sports Direct Arena helps up to showcase the opportunity to interested parties. We are now actively seeking a long-term sponsor wishing to acquire full naming rights for the stadium. “Our shirt sponsorship deal with Northern Rock will also expire at the end of this season, which presents would-be sponsors with the opportunity to acquire both the naming rights and shirt sponsorship deals.”

If they do then they are ok with it, it's all but confirmed by the club.
-
Stadium and shirt package? So Sports Direct on the shirt as well then.
-
The statement is coming tomorrow.
-
Trending on Twitter as well. No doubt other fans laughing at our expense, wankers.
-
The chances of real historic stadia like Old Trafford or Anfield being renamed are absolutely nil. Because the people who run those clubs don't have a compulsion to treat their supporters like shit for the sheer hell of it.
-
I'm sure there would have been, but at least back then people could look to the money as a positive.
-
But it again raises the point about other clubs getting money for naming rights/advertising, while NUFC are seemingly getting nothing.
-
No doubt mongs everywhere will see this as the wheels coming off at Newcastle, and losing to the best side in the league next weekend will of course prove them right.

Some of us are assuming there might be more to it than a name change, so we're just speculating. In other words, think nothing of it
-
Is all this shit allowed for the Olympics btw?
-
Not sure if serious, but that is actually not a bad shout
-
With 4 weeks between home games there could potentially be another change inside the ground too.
-
Absolutely furious. No doubt some will be happy enough though as 'they are only seats'.
-
I don't think it ends with the name change btw. The way journos are going on it sounds a lot bigger. So I'm guessing it's the name change plus other stuff.
-
The thing that annoys me the most about this is we may never see it called St James' Park ever again. When Ashley eventually does one, what is to stop the new owner promoting his own or another business in the same way?

How did Nixon get on anyway? I missed the bit where they introduced him.
