Apparently the Given deal was done with 3 weeks of the window left, but it was held off until the end of the window so no questions would be asked about players coming in with the money we got out of the deal. Im not sure if that is in the statement btw as I didnt read it. For what its worth I dont think think this has to do with Ashley keeping the money or anything, I think its just down to the fact that the money wont be at the club until the summer, so it cant be spent until then anyway. If Shay went with weeks of the window left and we hadnt got the money, then we would have heard cries of "Ashley is pocketing everything" from the fans demanding it be spent.

Is it apathy we are all feeling, or is it just another day at the office for a Newcastle fan? Seems to have been that way since we got put out of the UEFA cup to Sporting.

Im sure alot of people will be called fickle etc for giving up next season, but tbh if we are sitting with Joe Kinnear at the start of the season, sitting pretty on a 3 year deal, regardless of what league we are in, giving up would be the smart thing. In the Prem we would be relegated, do we really need another season of this shit? In the Championship we would be in the bottom half and relegation would be getting screamed about yet again in a lower league, again, what the fuck is the point? Ill still be here complaining im sure, but this time next year I wouldnt be surprised if there is talk of the NUSC or whoever starting a new club.

If Ashley didn't realise his policy of holding on for Joe risked relegation before, he does now. He looked like he was shitting bricks watching today's game. He certainly didnt look happy, but again Kinnear isnt in the dug out. I truly believe Mike thinks that when Kinnear returns we will be fine. He probably thinks the games between now and Kinnear coming back arnt winnable anyway.

It would seem the players are starting to give up. We will be in the bottom 3 by the time Kinnear returns, nothing will happen as thick Ashley will see Kinnear coming back as our saving grace. "Joe will sort us out" etc.
