Emre formed a good partnership with Butt and we picked up some good results with those two in the middle. It seems incredible that two successive managers would make the same mistake but I think that's what happened, as you say Parker was given attacking license while Emre was told to protect and it suited neither player. Because Roeder made Parker captain he didn't have the balls to drop him, and I remember Souness saying he thought Emre was a defensive midfielder. Emre's problems are obviously about consistency and injuries, one possibly to do with the other. Keep him fit and I think he'll find consistency. The main challenge for Allardyce will be to keep him fit all season. The thing I like about him is he sees things early, plays the ball early and spreads the play from flank to flank. One of the problems of recent seasons has been players like Parker and Jenas who weren't willing to take a chance and run at people or play ambitious passes, instead deciding to turn around and play it sideways or backwards. In the end both took flak from the fans and wanted out at the first opportunity, which I think tells us something about their characters. It just goes to show that our fans aren't just about big tackles but appreciate a player who can drive forward and take a chance now and again. We've really missed Emre and Barton so far, the sooner the two are available the better. I still believe Emre has the potential to be a crowd favourite here, but the injuries have to stop. I agree...He could become a importand player for us under a good manager and playing in a more organised team where everybody know their roles, compared to when souness an roeder were managers, headless chickens all over the place..

nice rant there buddy. i'm not sure who it's directed at but anyone who supports this club and has more than a roedent sized brain know's we're not in europe..... It's directed to those who complain about us playing s*** football, which i cant "fully" agree with, of course we can play better football, but the team needs some time to gel, and Big Sam hasnt exactly had much time yet. We have to have some patience and take it step by step, things wont happen over night. I cannot understand those negative people. We have had the best start in the league since quite a few years. Instead of complaining about silly stuff like "we dont play super perfect football" i try to look at all the good things that has happened in just a few months, everything like a new ownership, coach, the new players, some players we have got rid of and the whole new setup and strategy at the club. Things could of been much more worse? Right? So let's have some patience ffs, at least we are going in the right direction and the future of our club looks brighter than it has done for many years...... Im happy like hell atm about how things are going

Do people expect us to become Barcelona over night? Big Sam has built the team/squad in the right way imo. Without over spending he's added some steel and strenghtened the team in many areas, both in starting team and also squad wise. We now simply have a much better balance and competition for places in our squad. We will not be any pushovers this season like we've been under Souness and Roeder. I believe that we will be much more consistant through the season. And that will certainly bring more points than any roller coaster style of a season with a couple of "fancy football" games followed by some miserable performance's. I believe that Big Sam is trying to build a solid core of players that he knows will generate in more points rather than signing a couple of expensive entertainers. By doing that, it will buy him more time as a manager and he can build on from there and later adding those finishing touches that he surely has in his mind i would believe. And some people should not forget that we are not in the CL or even the UEFA Cup atm. Imo i think that Big Sam is doing it EXACTLY the way that he should. Building the team and squad from scratch, looking through the whole setup from players and staff and everything around and replacing all that he thinks needs to be replaced. Keeping the pieces he thinks is needed and adding to those to get us slowly but steadily moving into the right direction. And after that im sure he wouldn't mind adding some players that will get us playing better football. Because maybe after this season we will already be more attractive to other players around the world and then im sure we have a much better structure at the club, more organisation throughout the whole setup at the club and a really decent squad. We have to have a strategy and a longterm plan to break into the top four in the future, and im confident that if we do it in the future, im sure that this is the way to start. Big credit to Sam.

Some of you guys are over estimating Man City. A said before the season and im saying it again, They will not end up in the top 8. Yes they got a good start to the season, but imo they were over performing and will be really inconsistent i believe, going from a really good game to a few really bad. Im not saying that we WILL beat them when we meet them, But i am hopeful of a draw at least..

Alot more dynamic than Butt, more athletic...I haven't seen Faye play much at all as a DM, how is his quality when it comes to passing? I know he's not like Xavi, but compared to Nicky Butt? Who imo misses quite a few simple passes.

How good is his passing? I have seen him a few times and i have been quite impressed, but that has been in games where he mostly has played at CB. I hope he's a better passer of the ball than the last Faye we had i know he is, but how good is he?

GREAT value for the money paid imo, raises the competition for places even further. Can only be a good thing, keeps everyone on their toes and will help the team to be more consistent through the season, im REALLY impressed with the dealings this summer,quite early still but i feel that we could have some real bargains signed when looking back at this season after it ends, im confident about that..

My internet connection has been down so i haven't had the chance to express myself. I was so frustrated that we hadn't scored a goal and the ref doing his best to deny us one, and we were unlucky and missed quite a few that should of been goals. When Owen scored i could not stop celebrating. YES!! A frustrating game that ended in a smile after 85 minutes. But quite a good game. Extremely delighted. I was impressed with the back four, calm and solid, especially Cacapa and Rozehnal, Not much to do, but what they did was done with quality.
