    Carew

He would be a good signing IMO. Not a prolific goalscorer but he could be a good foil for Martins.
  2. I don't give a fuck if he's a nice man or not. It seems to me that very few top managers are. Hand him his marching orders Shepherd and let anyone who wants to have a cry about it weep like babies that the nice man is gone. I, on the other hand, will be sporting a smile so big that it will be visible from space.
  3. What, like: "Ooh, Sylvain, you look fit today. Have you been working out extra hard?" "Why, yes Steven, I have. I must say that your hair looks fantastic today. What products do you use?"
  4. John O'Shea is 6'3. Fortunately. Had a quick look and couldn't see any eligible 6'4 centre halves.
  5. RIP to a truly great football player.
  6. If you were correct and the Halls wanted rid of Robson at the end of the previous season, I would imagine that he would have been gone at the end of that season. It seems likely to me that any claims that they wanted him gone sooner after the disastrous start to the following season were made with the sort of recollection used by the average gambler who claims whilst throwing away his losing betting slip "I knew that one wouldn't win!" It doesn't surprise me that, once again, you've found a stick with which to beat Shearer though. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion but I think that, as usual, you overstate the importance of Shearer in Robson's loss of support from the chairman. I suspect that Shepherd was pressured by the Halls to sack him, felt the need to change something to stop the dreadful run of results and had to respond to the clear fact that Robson's authority over the dressing room was questionable (largely because of his own comments to the media). I've written this in a hurry so I may want to amend my post later (particularly if the facts are shown not to fit my opinions  ).
  7. I have to admit to contemplating recently that the Halls have been far more influential in the poor decisions made than they have been given credit for. If Shepherd does try to gain full control of the club, I won't be too disheartened because it is possible that having one man in charge would lead to a more healthy decision-making structure for the club. He would certainly have my support, for a "probationary" period anyway. It does strike me as odd that he has come out with statements in the past that have contradicted subsequent actions, e.g. "I don't want to be known as the man who shot Bambi" just before reaching for his rifle (figuratively speaking). It seems plausible to me that he genuinely didn't want to sack SBR but his hand was forced by the men behind the scenes. I am starting to come around to the idea that it is overly simplistic to give Shepherd full responsibility for all of the bad decisions of recent years.
  8. The post above yours seems to me to be pretty much the answer (although without the threat of arse slapping). It seems reasonable anyway.
  9. Given that Shepherd said that he'd leave the club once we win a trophy, I sincerely agree with that.
  10. Perhaps we feel that last night's result was a fortunate one and happened in spite of Roeder's actions (or lack of them) rather than as a result of them? Perhaps we feel that we wouldn't have had to resort to penalties, or even extra time, if Roeder could adapt to a game to ensure that we maintain an early attacking threat, in particular, having the right personnel on the field to make sure this happens? Did you consider this?

    ITV

My favourite bit of an excellent rant.
  12. I noticed that as well and, yet, we were given the second least amount of time of all four matches! I ****ing hate ITV's football coverage. EDIT: And I see that there's a dedicated thread for this. Not surprised TBH.
  13. Wahey, 13 seconds on ITV! They'll only show the last two pens... Aye and half an hour of Man Utd's reserves. At least they get knocked out though!
  14. Excellent way for Scotty Parker to endear himself to some of the fans again.
  15. Tim Krul wannabe TBH  Nice one Harps son!
  16. It is becoming quite hard to care. Well, that is care about the minute details. Let's just get the fucker out. Yeah, I'm already looking forward and wondering how NE5 will defend Shepherd after the next inadequate manager makes a complete hash of the job.
  17. TBF, anyone can do that. Observe: So he has failed? bluebiggrin.gif Yes, but his failure is due to bad decisions rather than bad bookkeeping. 6 = 2x2 6= 2x4 I think you'll find. I suppose that, having not supported the club as long as me, you wouldn't know that.
  18. So, we've played the two worst teams in the league (apart from ourselves) at home over the last two weekends and we've come away with 1 point, having scored precisely zero goals. Genuinely find that hard to believe. I am questioning reality.
  19. He seems fairly amusing but there is something... cuntish about him.
  20. Nice tip. Wish I'd followed you in. We're playing much better than I thought we would.
  21. Ridiculous. Emre gives nothing at all to the team. He gives the ball away then 9 times out of 10 makes no effort to win it back. When he does he gives away a free kick and then moans and tries to start a fight. He NEVER gets into the opponent's box or looks like he is trying to and his corners and free kicks are shite. Just watch tonight if he decides to play, pointless having him on the pitch. Disagree with just about all of that (especially the last line which doesn't seem to make sense). TBF, of the two Emre is the more creative, the more gifted technically and the more adventurous going forward. I can understand why someone would rather keep him over Parker. I can also understand why someone would strongly disagree with that, given that Parker has arguably been our best player this season.
  22. Unlike Newcastle to turn a profit on a player, we usually just turn on the player. I wouldn't like to lose Emre tbh. I've been impressed at his resistance to injury this year (which was my main worry about him). He's our most creative player who I really think should be one of the first names on the team sheet every week.
  23. Tell your mate he's a dirty pervert.
  24. There really is nothing of substance in the article and the fact that it's from The Sun is enough for me to ignore it. I'd suggest everyone else does the same. Hypothetically though, Eriksson would be a very good option as the next manager of this club. People can claim that he bought all of his success in Italy but the fact is that we have bought nothing but mediocrity for a large portion of the Premiership era.
