I can see him turning down that 100k a week wage packet as we speak.
-
Is it just me or does that sound like an invitation for other clubs to put in an offer for Tiote? It certainly doesn't sound like he expects us to put up much of a fight if Chelsea do come in with a bid.
-
Unless you're suggesting we offer him a big wage that Swansea couldn't match then I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. If we want to sign him we can either offer wages which they can't match or a fee which they will accept. If he's not worth either of those then we probably shouldn't have been in for him in the first place.
-
If he does well this season the price will go up by plenty - which means we most definitely won't be in for him.
-
A release clause you say? That should get our transfer team "releasing" some semen fairly sharpish.
-
Hopefully he was nowt special anyway and we were only interested because it was a contract clause special.
-
It's not that hard to fathom. Swansea have probably pointed out that he wouldn't get in our first team and have probably matched our modest wage package and given him a new deal, so he's changed his mind. When you are relying on clauses and loopholes to complete a signing there's always a fair chance it will fall through.
-
That's the down side of paying low wages, even shitty clubs like Swansea can match them.
-
I think Fat Sam's style of football would suit Ranger down to the ground.

how do the two relate? he signed a 6 year contract and we're under no pressure to sell, if they do want him ashley will push them to the limit imo IMO we'll still be worse off because the limit will probably be something like £20m max. We'll end up bringing in a player who isn't as good so we'll be worse off on the pitch. What good is the money in that case? yeah i get that, but you said he wouldn't rape them financially - 20m is arguably a pretty fair raping for a player like tiote who doesn't have added english tax it'd be closer to 25m imo anyways, ashley's had a taste of roman wedge now, he'll want more I'd rather have the player than £20m or £25m as I don't believe any replacement will bring what Tiote does to the team. So if we sell it will be us getting raped not Roman.

I don't really see how Ashley will rape them financially as you yourself have acknowledged he's the best in the division at what he does. The loss of Tiote would be massive, it would have a far bigger negative impact than losing Carroll IMO. Think back to the shite we've had for the last 10 years in his position and shudder.

Memo to Chelsea: fuck off
-
I don't think the story was about Chelsea making a bid, I thought they just made contact with a view to opening talks?
-
If he is just running down his contract how would it help if he came out openly and said so? Would we be better off as a team if the fans were on his back because they knew he was off? Yes it would be better for us if he moved now but unless he gets the move he wants then he's going to play to his contract, and I don't really see much point in us getting pissed at it.
-
I don't really see what he's done wrong though. So he's stalled on signing a new contract and most likely will leave. He might not have given a firm indication whether he's staying or going because he's waiting to see who comes in. Obviously he'd prefer to play CL but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he'll sign on here again if the right move doesn't materialise.
-
They should never get a chance to get that far really. You're assuming that Chelsea won't let his agent know the score unofficially? I'm pretty sure that's why Modric is kicking up a fuss, he's been tapped up on the sly.
-
I wasn't referring to your post if that's what you mean.
-
I just hope the Scott Parker loan stuff is true. Sorry but if Chelsea start dangling 100k a week in front of his nose, like Modric he'll be wanting to go.
-
I don't see how anyone can be called a cunt for fulfilling his contract.
-
The £15m fee is a joke btw. At least getting him to sign a new contract means we won't need to be pressured into selling him unless they offer daft money.
-
What if he wants to go? Which he probably will IMO.
-
I think the fee will be closer to £20m but the minute Chelsea made an inquiry he was gone IMO. Not only for the money but because he'll want to go.
-
I think we'd definitely sell him if we get the opportunity but I have a feeling he'll probably want to hang on in the hope Barca will take him on a free next season. He might well have already been sounded out and will probably tell the likes of Liverpool to get stuffed if that's the case no matter if they offer good money to us. It's all in his hands unfortunately so all we can do is make the best of him being here for another year IMO.
