Howe not allowed to bid for £120m winger who already has one.
-
Think he's got a much higher ceiling than Murphy tbh.
-
Same. Said Levy would have no problem getting rid of him, he got rid of Mourinho specifically so he wouldn't be able to claim he'd been a success because he'd won a cup.
-
Me too, I think there's a very exciting player there. Maybe lacks a bit of guile, but we aren't going to get the really elite players when cartel clubs can buy them all. Would love for us to buy Lamine Yamal but let's get real here.
-
We generally have a good idea of what we are looking for, and also have to factor in which players we can that won't be on the radar of cartel clubs. The really top players are going to get poached by the cartel, so you can understand why we think we have a better chance with this calibre of player instead.
-
Well we know we've got one because they sold him to us.
-
Let's just hope they don't have any more dud goalkeepers to sell us for £20m.

Callum Wilson: offered 'incentive-based' contract extension (Ornstein)

Osula might be considered too raw for the PL, but he looked 10x more of a threat in sub appearances than Wilson did. -

He had half a season to do that in the campaign just finished and barely caused a ripple. We really needed the odd goal and assist when Isak was struggling and he just made no impact. He's just a body now, he doesn't really offer anything other than taking up a squad space. -
Yeah there's a reason why managers like Howe put so much importance on physicality and hard work, it does come before everything else. The extra quality on the ball just gives you that 10-20% extra to unlock the shit sides with the low block like Everton.
-
We should be used to it by now tbf. Same will probably happen June 2026.
-
This is what might prevent us going to the next level as long as PSR is a thing. Physicality is important, but it has it's limits.
-
Thank fuck someone said it.

I think I was the first mate, remember @joeyt getting quite narked when I said he lacked athleticism and posting a goal where he did some acrobatics on one of his early goals. But yeah was referring to his pace. That said, I think his control of the game is masterful, and with the right structure around him, he's top top class.
-
Agree. Not sure how realistic it is, but for me he's a really good striker, would love to have him here. Hopefully not as an Isak replacement, but you have to be prepared for every eventuality. Ideally having them both would bomb us into regular CL football where we can compete on wages with the cartel clubs.
-
It's more Pedro I'd be concerned about, is he willing to go somewhere he's going to be the #2 striker? He seems to have a bit of an ego so just seems unlikely even if he's getting games.
-
I like Pedro, just not sure we can have him at the same time as Isak.
-
I can understand the criticisms, I think he's more about speed than finesse, but if Howe really wants him I would trust his judgement tbh.
-
Agree 100% on that. I think in our position it's the only way we get our first choices with the cartel clubs hovering, so it makes sense to do the deals if and when you get the chance.
-
I'm sure he'd like one, but is that his biggest priority? I think if we can still get one after sourcing the CB, RW and ST, then definitely we'll try. Assuming we can get someone high enough on our list.
-
Said this a couple of days ago. While it would be nice to have an understudy keeper, Pope is still top class. Not really as urgent as a RW or CB, or even a striker IMO.
-
How many players are actually effective wide and up front? I think lots of players get described with this dual ability but in reality they are usually just good at one or the other.
-
It's just a really lazy story, as someone already said, only chance of this happening would be if Isak was sold, which isn't happening for another season earliest.
-
There's a reason why we almost signed him before Isak became available. He's a cracking player, I was disappointed to lose out even though we got Isak instead. But I just can't see him coming here with Isak in front of him in the pecking order. Neither can I see us agreeing a fee which would make Brighton happy to sell him. We aren't paying £70m that's for sure.
