The other thing is we are not in Europe like Liverpool or Spurs so we don't have the resources to pay daft wages at this time. It's a shame Carroll couldn't wait and be part of the team that got us back into Europe rather than run to Anfield for the money. But understandable.

I believe him. Now Ashley has to back his man, the manager he chose specifically with the cash he's been promised. -
Carroll was happy to negotiate a new contract in October. It's not our fault or his that teams from the Champions League/Europe can come and dangle a double your pay offer in front of his nose. We aren't in a position to do that yet, solet's just take the money and rebuild. Andy Carroll is gone and now just another scouse cunt. End of story.

I feel (kind of) sorry for Pardew. He has to get his team motivated to go out and play but also has to deal with a whole load of shit that had very little to do with him and he certainly didn't want. You get into bed with sharks you get bitten. He knew what he was doing. This, if he came into this job genuinely thinking things would be plain sailing, he's arguably the most naive person in the history of football. But this too. Team spirit is the biggest thing about this team right now, can't see it deteriorating that quickly. He needed a job and he'd have been a mug to pass up this opportunity due to sympathy for anyone else. He's got 35million to play with in the summer unless he's lying. Hardly the worst position to be in as long as we stay up.

Don't see what else they can do with the tv money coming in the summer as well. £35million is the minimum spend as I see it. -
Think that's the key tbh. People don't mind paying to watch good entertainment but if we are just spending enough on players to survive a season ticket isn't really good value. Let's see who we buy in the summer.
-
I would imagine even if we spent all £35million, quite a lot of that will be set aside for wages and signing on fees etc. Although with the new low wage structure and the Sky tv money we shouldn't really need to factor that in.

Yep, he was supposed to get it. To understand what it meant to wear the number nine. Shearer was his hero! He doesn't have a fraction of the loyalty Al had. Piss off man. Shearer milked us far worse and was a busted flush who didn't have any other interested suitors after he came here. He was Kevin Nolan playing up front by the time he got here. f*** off You're understanding of history is flawed due to inexperience. Come back in 10 years and we can talk. Are you taking the piss? When Shearer signed for us he was one of the best strikers in the world you clueless idiot. Shearer had just scored something like 40 goals in a season for Blackburn in all competitions the season before. Tron is either an idiot or fishing. Or I followed his career a lot more closely than you due to age and experience. You probably bought the shirt and video I watched us sell better players at their peak rather than buying players who had given their best days elsewhere.

I think Parky might be a goal up at least. Let's re-visit this in a year's time!
-
Liverpool are yesterday's Villa. Throwing good money after bad in a desperate hope to reclaim past glories. Smells like Shepherd's last years in charge to me.
-
Except his team is probably amongst the favourites to get relegated.
-
We don't need to, just read between the lines.
-
Pandering to the ever dwindling NUST crowd I see. Yet we laugh at the London press.
-
Don't forget Lovernkrands. We've got Ranger's ability to endanger the corner flags as well though. All four will do enough to keep us up. Far more than Owen, Viduka and Martins did when we got relegated.
-
That's the way the world works though. Whether you are Andy Carroll or Fernado Torres.
-
I'm sure you do understand it. Liverpool offered to triple his salary. We didn't.
-
Then he should resign if he doesn't want to be complicit. Honourable men like Kevin Keegan do that (and get slated for it), not snakes in the grass like Alan Pardew. Spineless worm. Depends on whether he'll be allowed to spend the money in the summer. He might be looking forward to it.
-
Shearer was declining when we bought him. I know it's sacrilege to say so but that's the only similarity here other than the local connection.
-
Like Larsson was pushed out of Birmingham?
-
He might accept that losing Carroll is worth it if he is given a big transfer war chest in the summer. If...
-
Have you not been paying attention to the transfer window? They have made a massive statement of intent. They have spent a lot of money but that doesn't mean they've bought players who will gel together under the style of play they have used for the last few years.
-
I'm sorry, but that is bollocks. They're a huge club with enormous history behind them. Just because they've had a few duff seasons in a league where the teams with the most money are cleaning up doesn't mean that they're a spent force. Look at what they've achieved in this transfer window. Carroll moving disgusts me and I cannot stand Liverpool, but we shouldn't kid ourselves - they're a huge club and a media lovely. They are on the way down though. Especially with a twat like Dalglish in charge.
