    Saviola on loan?

And Barca winning the CL with Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Messi up top. ..and Man U winning the ultimate physical Premier league with midgets like Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez for that matter? Rooney's a fucking battering ram though. Ronaldo and Tevez are very strong. If you want a battering ram there are better options though.
  3. Good spot on the little brush off of defenders he does before the ball even comes in. Very clever, and not something you'd always associate with a player like Owen. I don't think its somehting he always did though, he has added it to his game after being called a one dimensional striker and after losing a yard or two of pace its served him very well. Smaller strikers can benefit from defenders not expecting them to get their head onto crosses but with Owens timing he is very very adapt at it. owen, despite the physical differences, is very similar to shearer. lots of players go through a spell where they are in the right position and score but those that do it year in year out are few and far between, hard to get off the ball, plays the game simply and is very consistent in finding his teams players. a little alarmed with the lack of good movement from martins. i hiope its just down to not having the chance to build up a rapport with a strike partner Martins movement isn't as clever as Owen's, but then Owen's movement is slower and more restricted. It isn't always black and white even for Newcastle. dunno bout that. martins never seems to use his pace. We don't play the ball in front of him, beyond the last defender enough for him IMO. thats as much down to him because of his movement (this is a re-enactment of an hours longargument in the pub last night) I think its as much down to the lack of a ball player as well though. maybe, but yesterday it was strange how much we went wide when martins was on yet had much more options through the middle when owen came on. thats because owen's got link up play in his game, martins just hasnt, his first touch is too un-reliable. if you watch owen he very very rarely wastes the ball. Neither does Duff to be fair. He just passes sideways and refuses to try and run past anyone.

6'1" on the wing aye. A bit like Jonas rather than Viduka for some who may not have got the point

Well when he's running, presumably someone has to run with him, dragging players out of position maybe?

How did Spain win the Euros incidentally? They pissed on most teams big and small.

  9. it works vice versa as well. Sheer poetry.
  10. Amazing how many people get dragged into it as well. Just enjoy people. Enjoy.

    Saviola on loan?

I would agree that our squad could probably use a mobile target man first or foremost, but if forced to accept a world class smaller striker due to lack of quality target men I won't be too disappointed.
  12. My problem with Milner is similiar to that with Duff. I said after Duff sparkled pre-season, that as soon as the first competitive match came round he would disappear up his own arse. Two matches in and what has he done? Milner can be seen the same way. Yes "he's only 22" but he had a cracking strike on him when he was 18. Why doesn't he score goals in the Premier? What makes someone who can hit the ball so well blaze it 40 ft over the bar when he gets anywhere near the penalty area?

    Saviola on loan?

I would say there's every chance of us signing Saviloa. So he's similar to Owen....that's the point. Owen could walk away after this season, and he doesn't play a whole load of games in any given season anyway. In my opinion Saviola and Owen could be quite tasty together in any case. Both are clever and quite capable of linking well in a passing team with one or the other dropping off as required.
  14. of all the names mentioned other than Berbatov, he'd be the biggest. Not going to be either though.
  15. Thought he was one of our better players today, some clever link up play to go with the sometimes infuriating over-dribbling. Is it just me or does he look happier? Haven't heard much about him moving on recently.
  16. Replace Duff and Milner with players who can deliver end product and that team becomes a lot more dangerous.

    Senderos Vs Taylor

He handled it twice in quick succession and both were penalties for me. Anyhow, at least it didn't cost us. Thought Zog had a pretty good game down the left.

    Senderos Vs Taylor

He can't win. He gets knocked for overdoing it and knocked for being no nonsense. The penalty and dilly dally moment aside, he put in a flawless display. Very good in the air, no nonsense defending, decent distribution, solid. The actual handball for my money having seen a replay, looks to be accidental. He saved a goal bound shot as he did several times during the game. I want to see that from a defender. If that becomes his game, no nonsense, he will commit fewer mistakes over the course of a campaign and with it become more consistent. He isn't going to be a world beater and never was, all I want is a consistent solid performer which since KK took over, he has been. Of course he's made mistakes, but all players do. Martins made one today when he missed his header, Owen did as well missing an easy header. The key is making sure those mistakes don't cost you. Don't want to judge him without seeing the incident, but he does have a knack of handling the ball in the penalty area. So do Terry and Carragher and that's because like Taylor, they throw themselves at the ball a lot and that's not because they are uber brave or uber heroes, but because certain situations demand certain actions. Taylor was applauded by the whole ground several times this afternoon for throwing himself at the ball to make vital and successful blocks. He got caught out and while it has happened a few times now, but I'd like to think he's blocked more goalbound shots and therefore potential goals against than he's handled, and by some margin. Again he can't seem to win, if he throws himself at the ball he's trying to be the hero (again) and risking a penalty, yet if he didn't, he'd be screamed at by thousands or called a fanny. Today was just unfortunate. I've seen Taylor throwing himself in front of the ball and he's done it to good effect a lot. Sometimes he's been standing alongside the keeper on the line trying to save it with his body, when he might have been better marking an attacker instead. Whether he's justified in giving so many handballs in the penalty area I doubt. Terry and Carragher can't play his football for him, although that would be nice. So many? That's stretching it a bit, although one is too many, but howay, its not like he handles the ball every game or gives a penalty away every game. I can think of at least three in barely over a season. Relatively speaking that's quite a few.

That said, he had a decent game last week, but I can remember saying similar stuff about Bramble.
  21. One thing which annoys me about both Milner and Duff - apart from the fact they can't shoot or cross - is that they both slow down with the ball at their feet. Last week Duff got the ball on the counter attack against Man U and instead of running at their over-stretched defence he started mincing around flicking the ball between his feet. Something Milner does as well insted of going at them while they're stretched.
  22. Solano was never a great athlete, but his football brain was so switched on he could do more damage with one touch than Milner could with all his running. End product. Solano had it, Milner never will.
  23. I've been saying that since last season. He's too slow, but he's a clever passer and he can hurt the opposition unlike some of our supposedly attacking midfielders.
  24. Good old BBC. Step up from last I guess Thank fuck I've got Prem Plus.
  25. Supposedly going to get an improved contract offered after Wednesday's board meeting. If his writing's as accurate as his shooting he'll probably sign the wrong piece of paper. Or boot it 40 ft into the air.
