    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Just stick with the players we've got if last season's saga with Guehi was anything to go by. I think Howe does tend to stick with his very small pool of players he wants in, if we can't get them then we hold fire and maybe just sign young hopefuls.

    João Pedro

I watched them when it looked like we were signing him from Watford a couple of years ago. But generally it's a golden rule to stay away from Youtube highlights until the signing is more or less rubber stamped. It just makes you more angry if they fuck off somewhere else.

    João Pedro

Well they also signed Delap but they probably think he's not good enough either.

He won't give a shit. But it is interesting they are so opposed to him signing. You would think they would be desperate for a decent striker. Maybe they think they should be aiming higher.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I think Howe might prefer us to stop playing hardball on fees and pay what it takes to get his first choice players through the door.

I'm sure we've been asking this same question for the past couple of windows and they just keep finding a way.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I'm interested to see if we have changed tack on alternatives this season. Last time round Howe seemed to intimate that the pool of players we were interested in was very small, and he was reluctant to trade down from his targets. I think he would prefer to pay what it takes to get his preferred choices in and might veto players he's not that keen on.

They still need to jump in for Elanga and Trafford yet, give them some breathing room.

Nkunku and Felix have flopped somewhat, and Jackson isn't really top tier. It's not that outrageous when you think about it.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I don't agree that the players are overpriced. We don't tend to go for bad players, and it's not that easy to get clubs to sell us their best ones.

Most players would jump at the chance to sign for us tbh. Unless one of the cartel clubs come in and offer bigger wages, and in Chelsea's case a London location.

I've said another striker is our most important signing for some time now. We have more than enough games to rotate two strikers even without considering the option of playing both.

    João Pedro

Chelsea's striker options aren't great tbf. I know TCD is a big fan of Jackson, but as a top level striker he's a bit shit really. They beat us to Delap, maybe they are thinking they can deploy Pedro alongside him, same way we would do with Isak.

They'll then use that money to sign Elanga probably.

I think they just rate our transfer business over the last couple of years so figure any player we have targeted must be worth having.

    Is that a parody account?

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

He's got some ability but from what I've read Arne Slot doesn't think he fits into the phsyical profile they want at Liverpool, i.e. pace and power. That doesn't sound like he'd be our type of player either, even less so if anything. You have to ask yourself if they would really be letting him go if they thought he was going to be a big player.

    Anthony Elanga

If he was a great lad and a top professional he wouldn't be available for £50m. Nice bit of WUMMERY though. I do like Garnacho ability-wise but apart from being an obvious prick, doubt he'd fit our profile for work rate other than anything else.

    Anthony Elanga

Haven't seen him tbh, don't really follow overseas football. Does he have the same physicality Elanga? I have seen some commentators rave about Harvey Elliott as an alternative but he's not got the pace or the strength that Elanga would bring.

    Anthony Elanga

I've still not seen many credible alternatives to Elanga put forward. The alternatives like Semenyo and Kudus are being quoted at even higher prices, and for some reason I just don't see any overseas names which look like they'll fit Howe's blueprint. I doubt we would want to pay that sort of money for a player who might be at risk of adapting to the PL, so if we do go abroad it will probably be a younger player with potential, not one for the first team.

    João Pedro

This is a bit annoying like. Closing in with £10m apart in valuations and the player still on his hols suggests there's still a fair way to go like. I guess it just depends if you believe that line that the club is confident they can get this done.
  22. They had a golden period during Shankly/Paisley era and because they dominated even Europe, the British press has put their club on a pedestal as hallowed forever more. Unfortunately their fans have bought into it and seem to think they have some god given right to win the title and the CL as a birthright.

    Anthony Elanga

If Howe wants a midfielder ahead of a GK then we'll sign one. I'm not convinced you are on the same page as Howe though.

    Anthony Elanga

He carried on playing a lot through pain iirc. I am assuming given some rest he will have recovered fully and should be good to go a full campaign this time. We did abuse his willingness to play through the pain barrier IMO.
