Plus he's literally been quoted a couple of posts above as saying he was disappointed he at not joining Newcastle from Watford.
-
Yeah I think Guehi is probably happy to run down his contract, might not even be that arsed about coming here. But I think Palace would rather have £35-40m than nowt. Unless they have money to burn.
-
If only it were that simple. It all depends on demand for a player at the end of the day. If there are a few clubs eyeing up Longstaff we might well get £20m.
-
They might not accept 50% but they might accept 60%. At the end of the day they will need to buy a replacement. £35-45m will make that a lot easier than £0.
-
That's why managers and boards are often singing from different hymn sheets. It was Eddie who has asked for the deals to be done quickly, but the players he wants are usually overpriced, so with PSR tying one hand behind our backs, unfortunately we have no choice but to haggle the price down. Which means it will drag on longer than Howe would like.
-
Sounds about right. Should probably avoid clicking this thread for a few weeks. It will get done, just probably take a while getting there.
-
Well I am fine with that generally. But I said I think he is overcautious sometimes. I gave the example of keep starting Wilson over Osula when it has become pretty clear Wilson is spent now. I already said I don't think GK is a priority position for us anyway so I would be fine with Pope starting as no 1 next season.
-
Tbf, we aren't exactly desperate fo a GK. We can afford to wait until the price comes down. The only risk is it might go up as well if the cartel clubs suddenly throw their hat in the ring.
-
I originally said £35m, you've changed that to £20-30m as the discussion has progressed. I would argue they could easily buy a replacement for £35m.
-
Without a doubt. Before that Tonali and Bruno had struggled to gel. It was a big talking point, and we kept getting calls to recall Longstaff/Willock who got us qualified for the CL in the previous campaign.
-
The football looked typically lacking in craft or guile with more emphasis on playing direct. Not sure hiring a German manager was the best solution if we were looking to develop our inventiveness on the ball.
-
Eddie does like players he can chuck straight into the first team, and as he lives and dies by results you can understand it. I just think he's overcautious sometimes, certainly seemed that way last season when he kept opting for a spent Wilson over Osula.
-
£30m doesn't make or break a club like Palace, but it would buy you a very decent replacement.
-
That makes no business sense at all. Obviously there is a point where the fee is not worth losing the player, let's say around the £15m mark, but if you could get £35m instead of nothing, of course you would take it. Or most owners with any sense would.
-
Means jackshit tbh. Obviously they will quote a ridiculously high price to start with. We'll counter with a realistic fee which might get the deal done. A lot depends on if Elanga wants to be here.
-
We are also getting to the point where we will need to start raising our wage ceiling if we want the best players. At the moment we will lose some players because we just can't pay as much as the cartel. We've done brilliantly to keep punching above our weight, but that won't continue forever.

He's communicating through body language - "This is me, I'm a massive twat".

That's one thing I would really miss with Pope, I love a keeper who claims the high crosses, and Pope is exceptional at it.
-
I think Pope will hang around for the start of the season, if he sees that he is second choice then he'll probably move and we'll have to look for a younger back up.
-
Even he's not that delusional.
-
It's never excited me, but I have a feeling it's one of those where it will look better every game next season. A bit like Pope really. It will be interesting to see how much impact his ability to play the ball out will have on our game. It might be something we don't appreciate until we see it in action.
-
Think it will be same as usual, buying long term targets regardless of the position. Trafford has been on the radar for a year, if we can get the deal done, we'll just do it rather than buy someone we aren't convinced on.
-
Not that surprising really, keeper is probably one of the easier positions to fill. But he's a long term target so not to be sniffed at.
-
Not sure I agree with that mind. The ball bounces off him quite easily, especially if he's under pressure. Don't think his first touch is all that.

Put a school skirt on it and would like like the infamous DLC pic tbf.
