I actually think it's a massive plus that he was basically shoved out of the door at Milan because they needed the money. It means he's probably let go of his emotional ties to the club and will want to prove himself twice over in a new country. Looks very much in the mould of Bruno as an all or nothing guy. I think Milner is done at the top level personally. Midfield isn't an area of the pitch where you can carry players. Personally I would be disappointed if we had lost out to Szoboslai to Liverpool, then took the guy he was replacing in their team.

Not sure we will be able to do it this window, but we definitely seem to prefer spending our money on long term targets over short term needs. If we can't get the right wide man in, I could easily see us spending on another midfielder instead if the right one became available.

Yep. I don't want to sell him either, but Ashworth has already said to be successful we will have to get to a position where we can trade players and generate income. If anyone doubts it, then just look at how Chelsea and Liverpool have gone from being on the verge or FFP restrictions to generating massive revenues by selling to Saudi. It's sickening we are having to play catch up, but the way FFP is structured we'll never do it unless we are creative in the market, and that includes selling popular players if the numbers make sense. I dare say we would sell Callum Wilson as well if a decent bid came in, and he scored 17 goals last season.
