I really don't imagine there are many better candidates out there to be manager than Shearer. If we could get a proven top class manager to take over then that'd be the way to go, but how likely is that when we're no longer a Premiership club? Not very would be my guess, particularly with the clowns we'd have trying to make the appointment. Hoping Ashley will agree to Shearer's vision for the club and support him in what he wants to do. If not, we won't be a Premiership club again for a long time.

Comparisons aside, why did we sell him again? It seems like we sell players for either having bad attitudes, being good or for the money. Whilst buying players with notoriously bad attitudes, or who are past it, for a lot of money. Loaned him out and then fell out with him when he refused to return when an injury crisis struck and we'd a big game coming up, in Europe if I recall? Was a bit daft from both sides really.

It's always fun to see them going down tbh, but ideally they'll bounce back eventually cos it's more fun with the likes of Leeds, Forest and such in the top division. Everyone'll take great delight in watching us go down, and so they should because if ever a club deserved to go down it's us this season. Ginola for me though, Robert could score or create something from absolutely nothing but when he didn't find that bit of magic during the 90 minutes it was more or less pointless having him on the pitch. Ginola got more involved in general play and gave you that outlet as a ballcarrier that you really need. Happily have either of them back, mind.

His biggest failing is that he can't read the game worth a piss. He doesn't see what's about to happen before the players around him do, something you just need to be able to do at the top level of the game. As a result his movement is generally directionless and ineffective. It's why he doesn't get in behind the defense anywhere near as much as he should, or get on the end of a great number of chances in the box. That failing, along with his woeful first touch, are what and likely always will prevent him being a truly top striker. Still if we stay up I'd keep him over any other striker on our books, all day fucking long.

Ideally he'd stay, yeah. But it's pretty unrealistic to expect it though should an established Prem team come in for him. We should make a point of not getting relegated this Sunday, he'll probably stay then.
