Would prefer Berbatov to any of that lot tbh though Shearer and Ferdinand in their prime definatly beat the rest. Is he saying what i think he is saying? I think he is. blueyes.gif I'm fairly sure he genuinely believes it too. If it weren't a bannable offence to do so, I'd call him the most idiotic and delusional retard I've ever come across in my time on N-O.

How would they remind you then, exactly? By being nowhere near as good?
-
Let's not get carried away FFS, they're nowhere near that good at all.

We probably shouldn't put a whole lot of stock in what ITK stuff a guy with 2 posts says.

City are arguably just as good a proposition as we are at the moment. New, generally agreed to be quality, manager and a rumoured boatload of cash to spend on new players. Course he'd go there from Bolton, who just don't have any financial muscle to compete with and who've just lost the man most directly responsible for their recent over-achievements.

Who can't cross. 7 premiership assists in the premiership say otherwise. Did he have any premiership assists in cup competitions? Alves would be far better value for money at 20m than Chimbonda would be at 12m.

Spurs have 4 very good options at the moment tbh. As a duo, however, Rooney and Tevez will be fierce to play against. Though Tevez hasn't signed yet, of course. I wonder if we'll spend on another striker. Be harsh on Shola to be completely kicked out of the picture, but you couldn't really blame Sam if he wants someone really top class to compete with Viduka.

It's absolutely fucking depressing to think just how good this team is going to be in about three years. It's insane as it is, but Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez are all going to be entering their peak years at the same time in a few years, while Anderson will be pure quality in a few years also. --------------- Carrick ---- Hargreaves Ronaldo ---------- Anderson ------------Tevez ---------------------- Rooney Carrick and Hargreaves is a great engine room, then you have the front 4 who are all wonderfully talented players who will swap positions a lot and play some exceptional football that will be at times completely undefendable. Jesus Wept, we'll have to make it a ten-year plan under Allardyce.

We're all gonna die...

The article has pretty much nowt in the way of any real information, but it may be accurate speculation as I've suspected for a while that the plan may be to assemble a nice, solid, deep squad with one real difference maker of a player brought in as well. So far we've basically spent nowt, as the fees for Rozenhal and Barton are more or less offset by the sale of Parker, while Viduka and Geremi moved for free. As it stands our squad of players that we should be comfortable with playing a part next season looks as follows Keepers: Given, Harper Sorted Defenders: Taylor, Rozenhal, Ramage, Babayaro, Solano, Geremi, Carr Assuming that Geremi and Solano are going to compete mostly for the RB spot with Carr. A new LB is essential, Babayaro is adequate back-up for now. We need to buy another CB to challenge Taylor and Rozenhal, Ramage will suffice as 4th choice. We may look to add a RB depending on how we want to use Geremi and Solano. Midfielders: Milner, N'Zogbia, Butt, Emre, Barton, Duff, Dyer, Luque Question marks over Luque, obviously. I reckon we'll look to add an imposing DM but other than that our midfield looks good, especially with Geremi and Solano well able to play there. Strikers: Owen, Martins, Viduka, Ameobi. Sorted, by and large. I would assume the big name player we would be targetting will be very attack minded so he will only add to this depth. So I reckon we need a good CB, a good LB and a good DM. All of which can be acquired for less than 20m quid very easily. There's a chance we will lose Owen or Martins, obviously. In such an instance, spending big on a striker is a must. Should they stay, though, I reckon that we'll have a pretty tidy squad next season if we get the players outlined above. I would assume Sam will at least have 15m to spend so I doubt it'll be a problem getting them. So with a relatively small budget (compared to what's been rumoured) we have a very tidy squad that should be able to at least challenge for a Top 6 spot next season. Add a stack of cash enough to buy a really, truly world class player to the mix and we could have an outside chance of cracking the Top 4 if one the big teams has a dodgy season. Re: Trophy signings. Tevez (I'm convinced that's the player in question, if only through my own blind fantasy) would be nothing of the sort. It's only a trophy signing in my book if you're splurging all your cash on a big name player while ignoring vital needs in other areas of your team. Owen was such to an extent, as the rest of our squad was very shallow in a number of areas, which came back to haunt us inevtably when we lost Owen. If we buold a deep, solid squad as outlined above then we would be in a position to add someone of realy world-class to an already very solid team, someone that would give us a real spark, without being a player we're completely dependant on. There are few players in the world who can really dictate a game, and to get them you generally have to spend a lot of money. If there's truly big money to spend this season I would not be at all adverse to us spending a hefty portion of it on just one player, as I believe that we're already only a few signings away from having a very solid squad.

And how would you know, eh? Support Man City or something do you? Check FM, mate. DM all the way!!

Got to disagree. It's like calling Gerrard a DM. Sure he gets back and helps out in defense, but any center midfielder has to do that too, not just the holding player. A DM has to play a disciplined game. Can't make many runs forward as his primary job is to protect the defense, not get forward. If he makes too many runs forward he'll inevitably leave us vulnerable to the counter attack. In attack his main job is to always provide an option to go backwards if the attack breaks down. Barton is no DM, or would be wasted there at least. Gerrard is far more attacking than Barton. I wouldn't say so. I've always seen Barton as a very similar player to Gerrard, in terms of style rather than ability, of course.

What a terrible team...
-
-------------------- Given Geremi --- Taylor --- Rozenhal -- Babayaro Milner--------Butt ----- Barton ---- N'Zogbia -------------- Owen ---- Viduka Obviously Baba hasn't a chance in hell of starting come the new season. This is probably the best balanced team we can manage from our current squad, but this will no doubt change dramatically in the coming weeks.
-
No defensive midfielder? Barton? No defensive midfielder?
-
Really don't expect it to happen, but wouldn't rule it out. N'Zogbia could end up as a wing-back in it, potentially. I would hope not though. Drenthe would be a good signing for this system I would think. 4-3-3 FTW, though.

I think I just threw up in my mouth and swallowed it when I read that, cheers.

Boils my piss that they play the ACN in February. Obviously playing it in the summer is gonna be tricky with the weather, but still. Perhaps they could play deep in the middle of the night, 2AM kick-offs. Hand out free pills and play techno music during the games to keep the crowd awake, would add some spice to the tournament at least.
-
In the scenario listed it would have to be a striker/att midfielder, as we would be set in defence already. An attack minded player influences things a whole lot more. I'll be very disappointed if we don't at least look to try and get Tevez. I'm sure one of the massive clubs will be in for him so I know we almost certainly won't be able to get him, but you never know. He'll be one of the world's best players in a couple of years, he'd be the touch of class that could make the challenging for the league within three years talk more than just a fantasy.
-
We need another midfielder tbh, someone to compete with Butt for the DM position.
-
Stop posting pictures of wrestlers, it's quite pointless.

I'm very wary of Shorey, could be a one-season wonder very easily. Bridge is pretty much a sure thing as he's proven, and Baines I reckon is quality too. After that, all our focus goes on Tevez...
-
Said as if we ever had a cat in hell's chance of signing the guy. Said as if we don't potentially have a massive transfer kitty coming to us, and can offer really top wages as well as the chance to play in one of the elite leagues in the world, which Germany isn't.
