Janmaat was absolutely dogshit for us for a good period of time and we currently have Anita playing RB, don't see how this cannot be positive for us. That doesn't change anything though. People thought he was shit at that time. Some people probably still do, some people will have changed their minds. That doesn't mean we just calmly say HI to each new signing rather than actually discussing what we know about them at this point in time. His career to date doesn't just become null, it is perfectly relevant.

He's not good enough at taking people on to be a winger though. Much better overlapping as a fullback. So he's either a really defensive winger, or a really attacking full back. I'm assuming we'd prefer the latter but you never know.

Would he work as just a winger then ? Does he offer a lot going forward, I must admit to knowing next to nothing about his abilities. Maybe, but I doubt it. He's played 39 games for the US. It's not like he's made 1 appearance in an Ireland friendly. Half the time he ends up on the wing because he can't defend for shit and is just fast.

Personally, I reckon there's a fair gap between "signing anyone" and signing a broken-legged Alan Judge. Sure, that's why I said he's a questionable signing but I'm hoping for others. But who has proposed that we should be going round and "signing anyone"? And who are these anyones you refer to? We'd probably not get Aguero right now, but I can't say I believe it to be all that adventurous to say we should be putting in competitive bids for the likes of Knockaert, should we rate him.

I don't really believe that Sheffield Wednesday wouldn't accept the right bid for anyone. Anyway, it's more whether you believe the reports that we were putting in realistic bids (~£10m) or stupid bids that we know will be rejected. Given our history, and ownership, my guess it's the latter.
