Of course it will, but at least the wheels are in motion.

Hope allot of you like me are getting very excited with the motions put in place to sign quality talent from around the world. As long as I can remember we have always relied on the 1st team with hardly any talent coming through our ranks. Most of our signings have been to the latter stages of there playing career's except from the bobby days when all he brought at the time was youth. Hopefully we can get an infrastructure in place similier to Arsenal with the majority of our players coming from the acadamy instead of having to fork out through the nose for crap! The money we'd save overall would enable us to set aside big funds for superstar signings when or as we need them. So i'm fully behind the new regime just a shame we may have to watch some dross from now until the end of the season.

And Duff KK could re create him into the 'wing wizard' we saw and coverted at Blackburn and Chelski Have we tried Emre on the right wing instead of Milner? Surely he can put in a much better ball than he can

Newcastle confirm Wise role New man is executive director By Graeme Bailey Last updated: 29th January 2008 Tuesday's Premier League Action Home Treble - Arsenal, Middlesbrough and Bolton all to win on Tuesday - 4/1. Place your first bet and we'll match it up to £20. Wise: Director role This is all part of the vision that recently helped us to secure Kevin Keegan's return to the club as manager. Chris Mort Newcastle United have confirmed Dennis Wise's role at St James' Park will be that of executive director. Wise quit Leeds United on Monday to take up a new position with Newcastle and the club have now confirmed his title. Newcastle have confirmed Wise alongside two further additions to their management structure. Tony Jimenez has been confirmed as vice-president - but he will play a major part in player recruitment along with new technical co-ordinator Jeff Vetere. Chairman Chris Mort has insisted that manager Kevin Keegan was fully aware of the new appointments - after reports suggested he was shocked by the move for Wise. Vision "This is all part of the vision that recently helped us to secure Kevin Keegan's return to the club as manager," said Mort. "Two of the conclusions of our strategic review, since acquiring the club, were that the club would benefit from having a football person involved at board level, which it has not had historically, and that further senior resources are needed for recruiting players of the highest quality from this country and further afield. "Dennis would like to move away from day-to-day football management to a board role and, with his considerable energy and intelligence, we believe he will do very well in this new position. "With Kevin able to devote his efforts to developing and running the first-team squad, Dennis, Tony and Jeff will each help us to secure success for Newcastle United football club at all levels and for the long-term. One or two further key appointments will follow in the months ahead."

I guess 1st team yes! But if you noticed how Mort was doing the role of bringing yougsters like Tozer And Kadar then maybe this will be Wise's role. We all know keegan closed the acadamy down last time as he wanted to concentrate purely on the first team, so maybe this is the reason why Wise has been brought in, to set-up something similiar to the Ajax model, so Kev won't have to think about it

where is he quoed as saying he had no idea ? sure he says to ask mort when he returns on weds or thurs. So where is Mort? Involved in signings?

It wasn't that long ago - around the time of the last WC i think - when many members on this forum dismissed Adebayor as being 'a glorified version of Ameobi'. Keegan has compared a potential Shola Ameobi to Emmanuel Adebayor, and wonders why Shola cannot be as good as the Arsenal hit man. Keegan said today: If you look at Adebayor, what I would say to Shola Ameobi is what I saw of Adebayor a year and a half ago when he first came on to the scene is what I saw of Ameobi when he first came on to the scene. That guy has kicked on and Shola has had injuries and other little problems, I guess, but he is 26 now and I dont think it is too late. Everywhere you go when you see a performance like that, you can say to a player, He is a similar size to you. Has he got more ability than you? Well, it would look so at the moment, but truthfully, I think Shola has got a lot of stuff packaged there that hasnt quite come out properly yet. People might say Alan was dominating when he was here - of course he was; so was (Thierry) Henry, but Adebayor has gone straight in and filled his boots. Thats not easy, thats almost as difficult as filling Alan Shearers here. Adebeyor can head the ball, which is usually a big advantage for a big guy. Also he doesn' get caught offside or give 100+ freekicks away per match!

Have a look at Ameobis, he looks like Ronaldinho FFS. Aye I think someone should compile videos of all the bad things they do so you get a balanced picture of the player! Trouble is Ameobi's would last about 38 hours

TOON MOVE FOR CZECH STARLET Posted 29/01/08 09:45EmailPrintSave Newcastle are trying to beat Juventus to the signing of Czech starlet Lubos Kalouda. The 20-year-old has been in talks with Juve, who made a move for Kalouda earlier this month. His club Brno want around 4million euros (£2.9million) for the highly-rated midfielder and Juve had looked on course to finalise a deal. However, the Turin giants have taken their time to finalise the deal and now Brno have opened talks with Newcastle. "Considering that 31 January is getting closer, we have to negotiate," Brno's major shareholder Roman Pros confirmed to CTK. "There are no further obligations to Juventus. Despite that, we are awaiting their statement but in the meantime we have started talks with Newcastle who know our requirements for releasing Kalouda." Juve see Kalouda as the long-term replacement for fellow countryman Pavel Nedved and they could now be spurred into action by Newcastle's bid. Juve were set to allow Kalouda - who was called into the Czech national squad for the first time earlier this month - to stay at Brno until the end of the season but it remains to be seen whether Newcastle would want him to move straight away or not.

"This squad is the best I’ve had and I mean that 100%. Bringing players in to better these, you have to be more selective. “We’re looking at both ends of the market, three or four certainties (who can play straight away in the Premier League) and three or four young chances. That’s what the club are trying to do and I think you’ll see that by some of the things that are being done.” Hmmmmm so when do we get these 3 or 4 premier players kev?

Move for Wise had Keegan’s blessingJan 29 2008 by Luke Edwards, The Journal DENNIS Wise’s arrival at Newcastle United will receive the full backing of manager Kevin Keegan as the former England international’s role will see him have no influence on first-team affairs. Wise will take up a newly-created position at St James’s Park this week, in which he will be expected to oversee improvements in the club’s Academy – as well as help in identifying potential transfer targets – and the increasingly time-consuming business of player contract negotiations. But the former Leeds United manager, who has quit Elland Road to become part of a new management structure under chairman Chris Mort, will not hinder Keegan’s decision-making or impinge on his power. Keegan will retain control of first team recruitment and will have sole responsibility for developing and running the first team squad after he agreed to the appointment of Wise during the initial talks which led to his return as manager a fortnight ago. There were some suggestions yesterday that Wise’s arrival could undermine Keegan, but The Journal understands the appointment has been frequently discussed between manager and chairman and that there is no split on the thinking behind the decision. Indeed, Mort hinted at the Press conference at which Keegan was unveiled as Newcastle manager for a second time earlier this month that such an appointment would be made. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT He said: “I think it’s a bigger business and we’re a bigger club than when he was here last. We don’t want to overburden him with responsibilities. We’re not going to say, ‘Kevin – go and sort out the Academy or go and sort out international recruitment’. We wouldn’t expect Kevin to have that on his plate. “What I’ve said to Kevin is that it’s his call in terms of who comes in. Some managers have a reputation for wanting to bring their own people in, but Kevin said he wanted to come and see what there is. He might want to work with those guys. “We’re going to leave it up to Kevin. We’re going to be guided by him and we’ll be comfortable with whatever he decides.” And it appears as though Keegan is satisfied with developments which mean he will be able to concentrate on the first team, while Wise deals with more general matters involved in the running of the football side of the club. Although increasingly resigned to the fact he will not be able to sign any new players before the close of the transfer window on Thursday night, Keegan hinted he would soon receive some help in the recruitment process. “I don’t see the need to panic,” said Keegan, who saw chief target Jonathan Woodgate complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday despite a late bid from Newcastle last week. “When we get the players back from the African Nations (Cup) we will have the sort of size of squad you need to succeed in the Premier League. We’ve got to get through to that point. “This squad is the best I’ve had and I mean that 100%. Bringing players in to better these, you have to be more selective. “We’re looking at both ends of the market, three or four certainties (who can play straight away in the Premier League) and three or four young chances. That’s what the club are trying to do and I think you’ll see that by some of the things that are being done.” Wise has been one of the most colourful characters of English football’s modern era, as well as one of its most unpopular during an illustrious playing career with Wimbledon and Chelsea. The 41-year-old has a mixed record as a manager, taking Millwall to an FA Cup Final in 2004 before losing his job as a result of poor league form in the Championship. He was appointed Swindon manager in May 2006, but left when he was given the chance to become Leeds boss just five months later. He could not save the Yorkshire club from relegation to League One last year, but has successfully established them as promotion candidates this season despite a 15-point penalty for going into administration. However, Wise is believed to have become increasingly weary of day-to-day football management and was keen to take on a different type of role. Leeds chairman Ken Bates said: “I wasn’t surprised. There had been a story a while ago which we ignored, but it mentioned the person who engineered Gus Poyet’s move (to Tottenham) from the club. “Newcastle approached us last Friday and after we got the assurances we wanted I told Dennis he could talk to them. He rang me and told me he would like to take it and in football you don’t stand in the way of people who want to better themselves. “He apologised for giving us such short notice but said it was too good an opportunity to miss. He’s leaving the club on a stronger footing than he found it when he came here.” Newcastle are also looking to recruit the former Rushden and Diamonds youth team coach Jeff Vetere as their European scout after he performed a similar role for Charlton Athletic and, most recently, Spanish giants Real Madrid. The new senior management team could also include businessman Tony Jimenez, an acquaintance of owner Mike Ashley, as Newcastle look to recruit experts in all football-related matters.
