Jonathan Woodgate's proposed transfer to Tottenham Hotspur went up in flames when the ex-Real Madrid defender snubbed the London side to join Newcastle United! Article continues below Woodgate failed to agree personal terms with Spurs, and after Boro initially turned down Newcastles's offer, Woodgate has been given permission to speak to the Magpies. Woodgate had a brief, injury-blighted spell at Newcastle before his £13.4 million transfer to Real Madrid in 2004. Middlesbrough didn't want their star player to move just up the road to Tyneside, but Woodgate wants to be part of the Keegan bandwagon that is sweeping Geordieland. Keegan: "At the moment, he is one of a number of players we have talked about. "I am not surprised others are interested. He is a great leader. He is 28 and I gave him his England debut and I know him well." Newcastle have offered £7 million and the deal will go through this weekend as long as Woodgate passes a medical. << View Previous Article | Index | View Next Article >>

If Toon Get Through - Woodgate Is NOT Cup-tied! By Nu Mad Saturday, 26th January 2008 Newcastle new signing Jonathan Woodgate missed today's FA Cup tie with Mansfield, and as he also missed the 3rd round tie with Bristol City, he could play for Newcastle in the competition this season. Article continues below Woodgate played 37 matches for the Toon during his time at the club between 2002/2004. He was tipped to be skipper of Newcastle after Alan Shearer, but he moved to Spain before Shearer retired. So it does give Kevin Keegan another option as club captain. The armband is with Michael Owen at the moment, but don't rule out Woodgate before the end of thev season.

It's essential to maybe push on from here and try and get a uefa spot. If new signings would give us a chance of that then waiting until the summer would be daft as we can attract better players if were in europe. If not we best hope the intertoto route is open for us We are WAY off the pace for a UEFA or even Intertoto place, so for me we just need to concentrate on getting the best out of the players and pushing on. Any improvement on 12th is a bonus. Not that far to be honest and 7th is certainly within reach.

Keegan reveals Shearer talksJan 25 2008 by Lee Ryder, Evening Chronicle KEVIN KEEGAN revealed today he has held lengthy discussions with Alan Shearer over the Geordie ace joining his backroom staff. "I talked to Alan for four hours last night," said Keegan, who added that another meeting is planned for Monday. The United boss added: ``We will see what happens on Monday. It will not be as number two, I will tell you that. ``It will not be, and that’s the conclusion we both came to. But it will be, if he decides to come in, a very worthwhile role." Keegan also revealed that there had been no movement in the transfer market yet. Meanwhile, the United boss has issued a rallying call ahead of the trip to Arsenal tomorrow by asking his side to play with "courage" in their FA Cup tie. Looking ahead to Arsenal, he said today: "It’s a terrific tie for us. "If you thought about the places where we could go there can’t be too many harder. "You could put Man United in there and Chelsea and Liverpool, but as far as Arsenal is concerned it’s a chance to advance. "The cup throws up shocks at times and for most people it would a shock. "But that’s what we have to try to do – cause a shock." KK started his third spell in charge with a 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers, and just like the Trotters upset the odds by holding United at St James's last week, Keegan feels Newcastle can do similar at the Emirates. He added:"We had the perfect opportunity against a side at home, and who are where we are in the Premier League. "That was the perfect starting match, but the reality of the Premier League is that all games are tough, so Arsenal is perfect. "There’s always a chance, but when you play a team twice in four days you might get a result one way or another. That’s what normally happens. "I might eat my words but the attitude of my players gives me a lot of hope. "I think they’ve enjoyed the training. "When you go to these places, you have to play. You cannot let them have the ball and see what they can do. "When you’ve got the ball, you have to have the courage to play football." Hmm no moves as of yet! Doesn't sound to promising if he thinks that midfield can cause problems!

Liverpool's £17m for Javier Mascherano EXCLUSIVE By David Maddock 25/01/2008 Sport picturesLiverpool's American owners are ready to signal their commitment to the club by funding the £17million capture of Javier Mascherano. Tom Hicks and George Gillett are confident they will today wrap up the refinancing package that will strengthen their control at Anfield, despite efforts by DIC to buy them out. And with it, the two billionaires want to offer a message of intent to fans which they hope will put behind them the tension and unrest of the past few weeks. By signing midfielder Mascherano on a permanent basis, it will offer concrete evidence to fans that there is still big money to invest in players, and they intend to spend big in their quest for a successful team. But more significantly, it will show their backing for manager Rafael Benitez. Advertisement Liverpool will have work to do to persuade the midfielder to sign, though, because last night he hinted that he could be ready to move on from England. He has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus or Barcelona. He said: "At Liverpool I have found my home. However I feel that now the time has come to move on. Maybe I would like to leave the Premier League. A move to Juventus? Well I like to travel." But there is now real determination to convince the Argentinian to stay. Hicks and Gillett were the subject of protests from supporters at recent matches, who made calls for their removal as owners of the club, and they want to ease that situation. A source at bankers RBS, who are offering the refinance package, confirmed that the £350million deal should go through today and that, contrary to fans fears, will be stacked largely against Hicks and Gillett, and not the club. Benitez is hoping to complete the sale of Momo Sissoko to Juventus for £9m over the weekend.

Bit confused with this thread title tbh! Doesn't that just mean they stay where they are? Keep em or Leave em?

Constructive and yet to the point!

God some of you need to calm down on here! My cocks bigger than your cock! Blah Blah Blah I know some spurs fans I get on with well, and some I don't. You get good and bad at any club, just if you've run into the bad ones each time you come to the narrowminded conclusion that they are all like that! Fuck me Man U fans though! every one of them are cunts. lol
